On top of the brooder box build you a border fill it with contractor sand and scoop it out like a kitty litter box

I made a self filling waterer with a float device from Amazon and some PVC pipes

I bet that works great! We have a large IBC tote that I plan on making a self filling waterer with a float device and all that for our goats and pigs sometime soon!

I like this idea of being able to remove the perch easily. I would put wood chips/straw to catch the poop and then compost it later. I also got those drinking cups, I made the mistake of using them with our chickens, turkeys and ducks in one pen. The ducks would empty our 5 gal bucket everyday. Lol, our poor chickens and turkeys. Thank you for sharing! 💜

Your side roosting bars are right there next to studs so why don't you drill holes put bolts and washers through therefore you can lift it make them hook to the top of your shed and hold them up so next time you clean it would be easier to get around the roosting bars

That's a great idea! I don't think I showed it here but our side roosting bars aren't actually connected to anything, I just lean it against the wall and being nudged against the wall and the floor it holds nice! It's held that way for over a year even with all of our chickens weight on it. So whenever I go for a full coop cleanup it's easy to take it out and bring it back in. In the future when I update those bars I will do something a little more secure that I can lift up though! :)

Why did I never think of putting feed bags down under roosting bars? Duh!

I saw the idea a while back online and thought it was brilliant! I love how much easier it is to clean and it helps keep a barrier to protect the wood from soaking everything in.
