    Been riding for about 23 years, owned 40+ bikes, ridden probably around 500-1000 bikes, was a professional test-driver and development engineer for the car/motorcycle industrie, and was a motocrosser growing up. And i own a World Raid. Probably the best bike ive ever ridden. Def the best bike ive ever owned. And that coming from a Honda fan. I love this bike so much that i could buy a second one, just like that, for no better reason than just having two of them.

      List 5 things why it's the best?

    • @Driftuner
      @Driftuner 7 месяцев назад +65

      @@dIsAstErTR for starters, ive always wished Honda would make a "new version" of the old 750 Africa Twin from the 90s, because to me that is easily one of the best bikes ever made. I was hoping the new Transalp would be that bike, but unfortunately it is far from it. Enters the WR. In summary, one could say the WR is a "new age" Africa Twin 750: both have about 230mm fully adjustable suspensions, both weight around 220kg, both have 23L in the tank, both make about 70ish HP, both twin cylinders, both around 700ish cc, very similar geometry, known for their reliability, etc, etc, etc. Its almost like Yamaha set themselves to re-build the old 750AT with the WR. The only thing the T7 adds to the mix, are the modern things one wishes to have: USD fork, steering damper, ABS and fuel injection. And thats it. Nothing more. It still rocks a cable throttle and cable clutch and everything is purely mechanical on this bike. No riding modes, no ride-by-wire, no auto blipper, no TC, no stability programm, no lean-angle-IMUs, no fancy adjustable cornering-headlights, no bs. Add the fact that the CP2 engine is one of the smoothest, most linear and usable engines ever made, the suspension geometrie and setup works on and offroad at the same level as the very best bikes out there, it is a lot more comfortable than it looks, the wind/weather protection from the screen but also to the lower body is excellent due to the wide tanks, even though it is heavier on paper than the regular T7, it "feels" lighter since the tanks are mounted about 20cm (!) lower into the chassis, the gearbox ratios are absolutely perfect, i easily manage to squeeze 600+ km out of one fill up, this bike is very economical, it is easy to service, easy to maintain, uses no special tools anywhere, spare parts and aftermarket parts are widely available, no electronics to go wrong, sounds great and looks killer. Only real negative is the price and taking a passenger also isnt the best. It is not a cheap bike nor is it very comfortable for 2-up operation. But, i could go on about this bike for hours...i absolutely adore it. If i could i would buy a second one

      @@lequan8766 ive never owned the AT, but ridden it a lot. And yeah sure i recommend it. The AT1100 is pretty much a "bigger T7". I traded my 2018 tracer 7 for a world raid and I put £4500 worth of extras on it out of the box so it cost me £16.500 but a Dakar style bike has always been my dream so I went all in. I had everything put on it and I have no intention of going off road as my left hand is plated due to past motorcycle injuries. But what a beautiful ride the world raid is. I'm 58 and got my dream bike. So yea £16500 well spent. Although my wife moaned a bit.

    I traded my R1200GSA for a T7 World Raid last year. Compared it to the Austrians, Italians, Brits and Swedes. Main things that swayed me over were the fuel range (because of the very low consumption plus large tank), reliability and looks. I was torn at first with the Norden 901 Expedition, but after making a test ride it just felt tiny for my 1.90 m / 6'3" length. I had to sit partly on the rear seat to be comfy. Also liked the Tiger 900 RP and all its features, but the price was just too much (5000 euros more) and I had a sense it was too much street orientated. The Tuareg was and still is a lot less popular, so besides my trauma with Italian reliability in the past, there is not a lof of aftermarket stuff to find for it in contrast to the tons of stuff available for the T7. I've customised it to my likings to get it to look more mean, be lighter and have more features. Like an aftermarket quickshifter, Kaoko throttle lock, chain oiler etc. Loving it so far.

    Brought a 2024 Standard Tenere700, my local Yamaha dealership had an offer on one brand new, 0 miles, it had just been registered to the shop first so techically im the second owner but was reduced to £8,100.00!!! Snapped it off them and it has been brilliant. Modded it myself with AS crash bars, rear rack along with barkbusters, GB Racing engine protection, AXP sump gaurd and AX41 tyres and shes amazing off road. I have a friend who brought the world raid and it just looks to big and wide to be comforatable throwing it around off road. The standard 700 in my opinion is the one to have and spend the spare money on making it your own.

    The T7 could have been much better if...
    Yamaha converted the engine to dry sump, flat bottom.
    That would lower the COG significantly.
    Like Aprilia did with their 660.
    Or KTM flat bottom 790/890.
    Yamaha engineers seem to be lazy 😅
    The laziness also showed with the first generation where the ABS could not be switched of only at the rear.

    I have ordered the Extreme to replace my CRF300 and Triumph 1200XE as I'm riding more ATC now but still wanted the ablity to ride distance on road and get off road. The only annoying part is Yamaha dont fit at least proper 50/50 tyres as standard which means I have to spend more money, the Extreme should come with them as standard.

      Yeah t7 completely doesn't make sense in current market with this pricing.
      Boomers who curse at electronics are still getting them though , so looks like Yamaha did found it's niche 😂
      It's ridiculous how much tuareg is better yet at same price as base t7.
      Here in poland tuareg is even cheaper .

      @@Angry-Lynx seems like this kove is gonna make the t660 obsolete as well, no? As well as the transalp, base 790/890 adv, cf450, himalayan… most ‘middleweight’ and many ‘lightweight’ adv bikes seem to have just been disrupted big time.

    • @Weltbummler23
      @Weltbummler23 7 месяцев назад

      @Angry-Lynx 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@Weltbummler23 I don't think it'll make Tuareg obsolete, I can still think at least few things to take it over Kove - with obviously cruise control being the main thing.
      BUT! It'll for sure be it's direct and probably main competition and steal some sales from Aprilia which isn't doing too hot with Tuareg already.
      One thing I'm absolutely sure is that Kove new unicorn proposal is extremely good news for adv market and competition.
      Let's just hope they can last those next few years which will be challenging for them but if they manage I'm sure we'll see amazing things on adv market, including much more polished 800x with CC :)

    • @Weltbummler23
      @Weltbummler23 7 месяцев назад

      @@Angry-Lynx a couple months back they announced the 800x will have cruise control. Also some european expats in china have posted that its also got very low vibrations, about as low as the t660… kove’s 450 does not have cruise, perhaps you are thinking of that one? On paper the kove 800x seems to have improved on the t660 in pretty much every spec 🤷‍♂️
