[TF2] War Paint Stereotypes! Episode 1: The Only One
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 окт 2023
- Ever seen a person’s weapon skin and assumed something about how they play? Well, you’re not alone. In fact, most hats, weapons, or other cosmetics in TF2 hold a certain stereotype. This series of videos aims to go over some of the most well-known war paint stereotypes in TF2.
Please keep in mind that I’m not saying that anyone who uses a certain war paint is a certain type of person. These videos are made out of spite at this point. Sorry if I hurt your feelings or something.
This episode is sponsored by The Monkey's Paw™. Shoutout to everyone who once thought, "I sure wish SoundSmith would go back to making Stereotypes like he used to!" This is what you wanted, right?

Excellently done. You can hear the spite dripping from every syllable.
The fact Soundsmith went back to his old stereotype videos shows that although he hates them, he understands what makes them funny. Mad respect

As someone who's had to dig through the old stereotype videos to find where the hell some old references rattling around my brain came from (zooped by tim allan specifically). The delivery in this video made my brain melt out of my ears even more than the old ones, good job.
It's actually really heartwarming that you snuck an A Mann's Guide preview at the end. Really goes to show how much you like your new content over all of the old stuff you used to put out!

This video is like that one episode of adventure time where they need to sing a song about how they're feeling to open a magical door, except the door can tell when they're putting up an act and don't actually mean it so they keep singing songs to one another, fucking it up, and never getting anywhere, until Finn sings a song about how much this entire experience sucks and the door opens

this is so perfect. the white noise in the background, the default white text popping on screen as "side notes", the pngs staying on screen for a frame extra and clipping 😭
This was a lovely blast from the past. Thanks for doing this even if it was painful!
I tell you what, the audio mixing is fantastic in this one! The perfectly balanced audio levels almost cover up the clicking of a revolver’s hammer being pulled back as the barrel is pointed at the back of SoundSmith’s head :)
The detail of changing the microphone quality is actually really impressive, it’s a great detail that must’ve taken a bit to implement.
My partner's mom actually had an old usb blue yeti lying around collecting dust, and she graciously let me borrow it so I could get the authentic "guy who thinks he knows shit about audio but clearly doesn't" sound

Im not gonna lie, I watched this series at the start and loved it. Continued watching you and just got adapted with your progress as a content creator. When you uploaded this after watching all your newer content, this is the biggest whiplash EVER, i love it
I'm guilty of being one of those people who got introduced to the channel because of the Stereotype vids, but every video you've made after that has been just as enjoyable!

Not tryna discredit soundsmith's editing or be a smartass but it was just a greenscreen, you could totally replicate that.
For REAL.
Kinda frustrates me by how well it works. It’s just so GOOD. I also love how it juxtaposes itself with the rest of the video. Real great.
Started with you with the stereotype videos, stayed with you for the genuine laughs and content. Glad to see how much you've improved over the years, and looking forward to seeing where you go!
I genuinely missed these videos. It was nice to see another, even if it was just out of spite/laughs. Also top quality Crawling rip you picked there.
You absolutely nailed the weird awkward pauses throughout
The sad part is that this is still probably gonna get three times more views than the average Soundsmith Hitman video
Very true, it saddens me but as the saying goes “What happens will happen”
I love Himbo man. But actually I find myself imitating their hitman voice and narration when I play Hitman. No, not doing a 47 impression, doing an impression of someone else's 47 impression.
The stereotype videos are what introduced me to your channel and ultimately what got me interested in tf2. Even though i agree that those videos should remain firmly in the past, i still appreciate them for sparking that interest.
Gotta say, I started off watching your stereotypes series and loved it. but damn you're newer videos are so good, way better and far more entertaining! keep up the good work, and I cannot wait for the next Mann's Guide!
You can just, _hear_ ,the repressed emotion behind his voice doing this. I feel bad that you felt that you had to do this again.
Edit: The fact that this video got on to _trending_ says enough
5:23 I actually might have an explanation for this one! Plaid Potshotter Mk.II was like- the nicest skin you could get out the ConTracker, so you could completely coat your loadout in a decent looking skin without spending a cent!
Aside from what you spent on the ticket?
I did this for medic can confirm
@ Genuinely forgot that the ticket costed money.
that and, weirdly, its the one that 90% of war paint mods go over. maybe its how its set up, idk, but ive had instances where i wanted to get a cool warpaint mod but it wasnt for civic duty (my fav paint + the one i have at least one strange of on every class) so i had to manually figure out all the texture names and where to put what texture
Love the return back to funny hahahas. Though your stereotypes series though it might not be that good it always gave me a laugh so for the time you did good. Cant wait for the mans guide
Okay, I'll admit I originally came to your channel for the stereotypes, and just kept watching as I waited for whenever you'd do a new stereotypes series. But as time went on, I've grown to like your other stuff more. At this point, I'm genuinely enjoying your other stuff more than the stereotypes series.
Dude, he genuinely sounds like he's being held at gunpoint...
...Are you okay SoundSmith? Are you... safe?

Definitely a good ol' soundsmith series.
I think the people holding the gun...is us...at least those who pressure him into making videos like this...
The Pyro Mains from How It Feels To Play Pyro got to him
@Rubiktor012 Of course here's safe. He has those super nice pyros with shotguns escorting him to his computer.
I can even see his ... smile as he waved back.
You know... I've never really noticed the gradual increase in quality in your videos over the years until this one-
You've come really dang far, and I'm glad to still be here after all these years.
unironically i was recommended an early stereotypes vid a few months ago when i got back into tf2 and liked it fine but didnt keep seeking your content out but this instantly sold me, good shit!
This was one of the videos at all time! But now im really lookin forward to the next mann's guide :D
The level of pure malice in this is genuinely impressive. The mic cutting off at completely random intervals after a segment was driving me insane.
And with that, the curse is lifted and Ethan can finally return unburdened to his true calling of finding new and exciting uses for the common household shovel.
Just gotta make sure it's a duped one.
I wasnt expecting the return of this but im happy that its here
first video of you ive watches in years. they'll always be your best.
Not only did they point a gun at Ethan’s head. They also forced him to use a snowball mic to destroy his sound based OCD.
DON’T RELAPSE ETHAN!

Honestly, as a new-er viewer(and TF2 player thanks to you), I’ve really enjoyed watching your stereotypes series. I understand it’s all in good fun and I’m sorry it has become something you resent.

This was a nice trip down memory lane. I particularly enjoyed how viciously you acted. It was inspiring.
I've watched your content from when you started stereotypes, not only has there been an improvement but I really really enjoy your recent content and will watch it on repeat occasionally
I'm glad you realized that the reason we watch you is for your wonderfully hilarious writing, and not (necessarily) the quality of the editing or sound. (please continue to make wonderful videos like Mann's guide though, my body needs it)
I can actually hear his soul slowly getting stuffed into a gift wrapped black box by Darren as he speaks.
Don't lie, he has no soul.
I gotta love Soundsmith's ability to imitate (or having access to) his old setup and editing
I can’t wait for part 2!! Keep it up!

Also the background noise is just perfect
I was expecting Soundsmith's pained screams and sound of nails on chalkboards but this'll do just fine
Happy to see this return for 1 more time. Love it
Absolutely in love with the fan running in the background for the whole episode to show the quality difference
I always liked the stereotypes because for me it was like "hey, let's see if my favourite cosmetic is there and what kind of stereotype i am"
Good times
Honestly, Soundsmith committing to the bit no matter what is the absolute best, and love the *Old Video with a fan in the background* audio, very classic!
You know i actually started on your channel from the original stereotypes. And i stuck around because of the goofy hi jinx man. Keep up the good work and you got this sound.
wow this video was nearly unwatchable, which is something ive come to expect from a soundsmith stereotypes video! well done!
NGL, Stereotype vids are what introduced me to the channel and have their own dry humor to them, but your live commentary and Mann's Guides are so much better. Definitely an improvement!
Hey SoundSmith, I really appreciate you doing the bit out of spite. That's even more funnier 10:27 then every time you done that joke.
It’s actually really telling that this is how Ethan _perceives_ his early work.
As someone with insomnia, I’ve listened to Stereotypes an ungodly amount of times, and nothing he’s made, at least since that series started, sounded like this.
But that’s normal.
All creators tend to view their earlier works- especially works that superseded their own individual popularity- with regret.
If you’re butthurt about SoundSmith making this video as a joke, you deserve to be butthurt.
Oh, ok then.
I can't really say I blame him either all things considered.
While Stereotypes is the series that effectively boosted his channel into the mainstream and exploded in popularity leading to his channel growth it also had it's negative effects, like people taking said stereotypes seriously despite his disclaimer bit at the beginning.
I honestly get the feeling Soundsmith regrets this series more in the way of how it changed the perspectives many held on certain cosmetics and weapons than he regrets it as a past product of work. (Though it's likely both, it's probably more the former than latter.)
Overall I actually think the contrast between Stereotypes then and the current content he produces shows how much he's evolved as a content creator over the years, and I honestly respect him for that.
I agree people should be butthurt over it, Soundsmith gave this shit up ages ago and with good reason, so let the poor man do what he wants to instead of begging for more.
SoundSmith never fails to make me violently eject my eyeballs into my monitor

Funny thing is your stereotype series is what introduced me and got me hooked to your channel.
I forgot which stereotype video it was that I saw, but I remember it was the first video of yours that I saw.
I thought it was dumb but at the same time also hilarious. So I decided to watch the other stereotype videos and had great time. At some point I decided to watch the other videos you made and ever since I’ve been a big fan of your channel.
Thanks for all the funny memories.

I honestly remember when your videos were first recommended to me back in 2018. I was working at Chipotle at the time and would always have your video on after work while I ate my free meal. It was honestly something I get nostalgia about to this day despite literally destroying my body for that job for little return. Whenever I get Chipotle now and one of your old stereotypes videos comes up in my recommended videos I click on it immediately. They were my intro to TF2 and I don't think I'd be the player I am without them. I got to know all the weapons and what they do even before I opened the game. It made my life easier for sure. Thank you Ethan for introducing me to this wild ride of a game.
