My oldest brother who was involved in both these operations just died of pancreatic cancer. Out of the 11 men in his flight crew 9 have died of cancer and both of the living crew members have cancer. The effect of radiation on the serviceman who were required to participate needs to be part of the records. These tests were horrible on the crews. My 78 year old brother fought pancreatic cancer for 9 years and was called 2% due to only 2% of people with pancreatic cancer live past 6 months. He surffered for 9 years, thanks to experimentation on servicemen who were in harms way.

I'd like to see some of those. I've seen the short portion of a Chinese test film at the end of the film Trinity & Beyond. That bit of heavily edited film seemed more like propaganda to show the people.

I was born in 1962. I knew little of these tests or news of them later on. What I wonder about is this: What impact did nuclear tests, and bombs, have on the oceanic and atmospheric environments? We talk about global warming and pollution, but what of these tests? The Russians and the Chinese communists were doing their own test, as well. The impacts of these tests are rarely talked about. I later read that the British and the French did their own testing, as well.

Yes, you are precisely right. Do you know of such data? In the specific case of thyroid cancer, I believe we do, but that involves iodine-131, a nuclear species that decays away within a couple of months of an explosion (or reactor accident) so radiation cannot be the culprit more than a year or two after testing/accident. I would appreciate any reliable data you know of. It has not been the case with Chernobyl victims for cancer or leukemias, nor with Japanese victims for birth defects, AFAIK.

    • @jwenting
      @jwenting 4 года назад +4

Correct, people artificially inflate the deaths caused by nuclear testing and accidents (and the nuclear bombings of Japan) by effectively claiming that every death among anyone who ever was in the associated area was caused by it, which is utter nonsense.
That said, there is a slight blip in the rate of death caused by cancer among the people involved in early nuclear testing as compared to the general population.
But as most all those people were military personel also in contact with other hazardous substances (chemicals) and there's no real data on that distribution it's impossible to tell what really causes that blip (plus it's not that much of a blip so it may be nothing more than a statistical fluke caused by a relatively small sample size).

@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 Lots of people die young unfortunately and guys in the military were exposed to a lot more than just radiation. They were being poisoned by all kinds of chemicals in fuels, explosives, asbestos fireproofing and insulation onboard ships, lead and arsenic from ammunition, they smoked and drank. Doesn't mean that these tests didn't harm them, but it's more complex than just one factor.

Dominick The Italian Christmas Donkey song - RUclips
    ruclips.net/video/nQrdxtWgHbE/видео.html
    Lyrics
Hey, chingedy ching, hee haw, hee haw
    It's Dominick, the donkey
Chingedy ching, hee haw, hee haw
    The Italian Christmas donkey
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, laeohda
Santa's got a little friend, his name is Dominick
The cutest little donkey, you never see him kick
When Santa visits his Paesans with Dominick he'll be
Because the reindeer cannot climb the hills of Italy
Hey, chingedy ching, hee haw, hee haw
    It's Dominick, the donkey
Chingedy ching, hee haw, hee haw
    The Italian Christmas donkey
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, laeohda
Jingle bells around his feet and presents on the sled
Hey, look at the mayor's derby on top of Dominick's head
A pair of shoes for Louie and a dress for Josephine
The label on the inside says they're made in Brooklyn
Hey, Chingedy ching, hee haw, hee haw
    It's Dominick, the donkey
Chingedy ching, hee haw, hee haw
    The Italian Christmas donkey
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, laeohda
Children sing and clap their hands and Dominick starts ta dance
Dey talk Italian to him and he even understands
Gumbaros and gumbaras, da de dance a dallodale
When Zepilagola comes to town and brings oh chu-cha-lil
Hey, chingedy ching, hee haw, hee haw
    It's Dominick, the donkey
Chingedy ching, hee haw, hee haw
    The Italian Christmas donkey
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
