First the unspoken series-winning overtime goal from Patrick Kane in the 2010 SCF, and then Kawhi Leonard's buzzer beater in the 2019 NBA Playoffs.

its pretty easy actually. build around a superstar that has 0 accountability and is always hurt. a big plus is when hes historically the superstar with the biggest point difference between the regular season and post season. the rest just follows.
I mean the homegrown stars weren’t taught how to win or how to be professionals that are held accountable. For all the “Ben Simmons hasn’t ever learned how to shoot” crowd. Which fair enough. But I mean Embiid is how many years into the nba and he still hasn’t learned how to handle double teams. Honestly butler was probably their best chance to compete. How to destroy a franchise? 1. Hire Elton Brand. 2. Trade for an injured injury prone 7 footer. 3. Draft 4 7 footers in a row in the lottery. Who are also injury prone btw and let a rookie PG cook as much as he want for a season so he can upgrade his trade value. 4. Trade for the first overall pick without including one your 4 7 footers. 5. Draft your Future PG and hide the fact that he had a motorcycle accident that cost him his shooting talents. Who is also prone to injury. 6. Trade for a superstar and a supermid wing. 7. Let one of your 7 footers that can't shoot play point guard. 8. Hire Doc Rivers 9. Give up on the first that you traded for. 10. Sign the the supermid player instead of the superstar. 11. Hire Daryl Morey. 12. After some early playoff exits, trade your starting PG for a strip club patriot because it's probably his fault that your superstar center can't get it done in the playoffs and your coach have terrible rotations and adjustments. Right right right? 13. Hire a nurse after firing you doctor and make false promises to the strip club patriot after taking a pay cut. And sign a defensive master who can also shoot corner threes and sometimes do nothing but cardio. 14. Now that the strip club patriot discovered that Daryl Morey lied to him try to trade him and ask too much in exchange. 15. Your injury prone superstar center who could not get in done in the playoffs and also a fake MVP is now all alone and probably wanting out and already requested a trade in secret so bet your future on Tyrese Maxey.

The pain of being a Philly fan has to be one of the worst experiences in modern NBA. There’s been so many missed drafts, terrible trades, management blunders, debilitating contracts, and the most consistent early playoff exit mentality only really comparable to the Chicago bulls. If they kept Jimmy, drafted at least one other decent draft with their multitude of opportunities, and had consistent management they could’ve been a dynasty. Now we’re looking at embiid entering his 30s with no post season success and minimal assets left from their win now trades.
The Mikal Bridges Trade was just horrible. How can you trade a player who is a local, a known fan of the franchise, the son of an employee, someone who had great success in College? Imaging the impact on the fans, the community and the city. The impact of Bridges would have been huge.
Honestly Sam Hinke did put them in a position to actually be able to win championships. Other people just mismanaged the resources he put together, sucks stinky Josh let someone take his job

19:16 onward is the best summary of why this team is absolute shit. The Sixers are dead to the city and that says something when the Flyers have stunk for the past decade. But do you wanna know the difference between these two franchises, in just this past off season alone? The Flyers cleaned out the front office and management and brought in hockey (Keith Jones, Danny Briere, John LeClair, and Patrick Sharp) and Philly people (Dan Hilferty.) The Flyers drafted a generational superstar in Michkov and have freed up some awful contracts from the previous regime. They FINALLY have people who care and understand the modern game. Meanwhile the Sixers have an owner who’s too busy getting drunk at Washington preseason games and trying to pilfer the city for a stadium that’s just going to displace Chinatown residents and cause even worse traffic problems. They have a snake oil salesmen GM who’s so deluded beyond reality that he thinks he’ll get multiple first round picks for guys like Tobias Harris and let’s not even begin with the James Harden situation. And they have an “MVP” who takes no accountability and throws his teammates under the bus. The only hope we have left is Tyrese Maxey and if he gets traded, this organization is really done for. The animosity is quite high in the Cradle of Liberty.
Gonna have to jab back on the "drafting MCW over Giannis" bit. Literally no one knew Giannis would be the guy he is today. Thats like bagging on teams for missing Jokic.
Not drafting Giannis isn't THAT bad. He was seen as super raw and with how they did with other top picks, would you have expected them to do it properly?
nobody could have predicted that bum simmons would turn out to be a bust. The other picks Jalil Okafor and Markel Fultz were the correct picks at the time. If a guy looks and plays like Michael Jordan in college but turns out to be Kwame Brown, what can you do.
Criticizing the 76ers for "not even making it past the second round" in 2019 is a bit harsh given that they took the eventual champions to a game 7 that was decided by a buzzer beater. That was easily the closest they came to a championship during this entire period
Very few have a true idea of the amount of picks, young guys, rotation players on incredible contracts, (often young guys as well) etc. that PHI accumulated in the Hinkie era. Also left them with an extremely clean cap sheet. You can go through transactions on bballref and you can see most of the moves. He left (got pushed out) RIGHT before the end of the 15-16 season, like days before iirc. It’s kinda staggering the amount of assets they squandered. I believe if Hinkie was given even just another 2 years things would’ve been infinitely different. I’m not a PHI fan, but it’s just very interesting. It’s kinda unreal, if they even battled like .200 they would be in an amazing spot. They batted like .025 though. Jimmy Butler even told them about Simmons. They had that one last out, they could’ve signed Jimmy, traded Ben, (who would’ve had big time trade value at the time, the trade package they would’ve received is massive) let Tobias walk, and went on building with a pile of cap space, assets from the Ben trade, their own picks, Joel/Jimmy etc. They did the polar opposite of that.

@@nicholaskatsikas4904in hindsight it’s easy to say that, but no one could’ve predicted that Harden would become the player he did.
@@theegreenone he still won a sixth man of the year award before leaving and even if didn’t become an MVP he could have still become extremely valuable to what OKC needed because after that trade they never could fin the right shooting guard to pair with Russ or KD which honestly was the bigger problem
And what’s weird is that they were in the same situation as Philly 5 years ago too
@@maxsowavy001imagine if if was a 5th and how drunk we'd be.
They're doing much better than Philly up top and it's nothing more to it.
that roster they had with jimmy was really it. letting him go the next season is probably the worst thing they've done
Pretty sure Jimmy wanted out and they had no chance of bringing him back.
@@barrettbrown-dc4npbecause they treated him like shit lmao

I think fultz was the only situation where the sixers were hit with bad luck. No one could have predicted that shit, he was a solid player. Everything else tho god damn
Except the celtics literally saw it and choose to let an incompetent team like Philly pay the celtics to take the worst player in the draft. There is no one to blame but Philly.
Player evaluation isn't just about watching some tape and running workouts. An interview could have clearly shed light on the players personality and mental toughness. This is probably what the Celtics did too.

The amount of talent that has left through their doors is insane. The only banner they have to show for it is a 47 point game against Nikola Jokic

the trade Maxey take is definitely aging terribly
Is it after the knicks manhandled that soft team?
You know it's gonna be a great day when Dylan uploads
Great video as usual, the editing is getting better and I love the funny images that are used here 😂
Woohoo! An upload in less than a month! For all the effort it takes to make these videos, this is a nice shorter one to watch on this Saturday morning! Keep up the good work man, looking forward to this! 😉
I love it whenever Dylan is emotionally invested in the docs. I'd like to see the process drag for a couple more years just so I can hear dylan sound disappointed lol
He’s emotionally invested because he’s super fucking salty that a black player won the MVP over a white man
You have to keep in mind if Jimmy Butler stayed on the Sixers, WHICH HE WANTED TO DO ANYWAYS, then they most likely would have at least 1 championship, but they didn’t even try, Jimmy was literally a HUGE reason why they even made it to 7 against the raptors and the fact he’s made the finals right after and not only ONCE but TWICE as the undisputed best player and leader on his team while Philly lost Ben Simmons who they favored in listening to with how to handle the butler situation over Embid who wanted Jimmy to stay and are now in the mud as far as I’m concerned, it’s self inflicted and completely deserved
And before Kawhi hit that Game winning shot it was Jimmy Butler who tied the game. I’m a Heat fan and I’m glad we have him on the team but to this day I’m still shocked they let him go when he was the perfect player to alongside Embiid.
@@DK_Vandaryn it sucks, maybe jimmy would've gotten a ring with the 76ers, maybe their culture would've changed for good, and be a true champion contender. Either way letting go of Jimmy looks even worse in retrospect than it already did at the time.
Yea, as a Raptors fan, I really think Philly had the best chance of winning it all the following year had they kept Jimmy. It was a scary team.
I was a Philly fan honestly I believed in James harden and I should have know better since he missed 27 3s Smdh this is just sad for this once great organization
Jimmy is just a baller, not a bitch, not a pushover, not a crybaby.. If Philly signed him and made him the undisputed leader.. Dont get me wrong, Embiid is superb but not leader material. He is just too much of a selfish little cunt.
Jimmy on the other hand.. Man I just love that guy.

Didn't realize how many draft picks they messed up. Like it was said in video, drafting late is up to luck a lot but to fumble THAT much... yikes. Good video as always.

I remember the Game 7 buzzer beater. Being Canadian, I was so happy when it happened. Even more impressive is that Toronto won against Golden State in the finals.
That said, I just feel bad for Philly's teams because they try so hard only to lose in a cruel twist of fate.

Bro one thing I loved about the movie "Hustle" is that even in a fiction film the 76ers front office is dumb
The FO did Adam Sandler dirty, should’ve went with Bo Cruz
I mean the homegrown stars weren’t taught how to win or how to be professionals that are held accountable. For all the “Ben Simmons hasn’t ever learned how to shoot” crowd. Which fair enough. But I mean Embiid is how many years into the nba and he still hasn’t learned how to handle double teams. Honestly butler was probably their best chance to compete. Actual leader and would hold a locker room accountable.
Al Horford really went to Philly, drained their salary cap, then dipped back to Boston and helped win a ring.
Love to see it
still find it funny that they could've had what the Nuggets accomplished in 2023. They had a MVP with a great co-star and supporting pieces. But nope. they wanted to act cocky even tho they haven't won shit. I still remember that Embiid ESPN interview where he threw shade at Jokic. How you gonna throw shade at soemone who's already accomplished more than you? Then immediately after that he misses the game in Denver.
It was such a weird interview to come out at that time, and then he didn’t even end up playing because he had the MVP locked up 🤣. Joel could learn a thing or two from Jokic and the nuggets. The real process.
@@diegochavez9286Embiid cried when he was given the MVP trophy. Jokic won the Finals MVP and immediately passed the trophy to a nuggets official to hold his daughter instead. Jokic is just a better man than Embiid
Imagine having the holy trinity of playoff chokers on the same team then hoping for a championship.
8. Hire Doc Rivers
It's insane to me how 76ers keeps making the wrong decisions after another...

Philly really messed up with their draft picks. Ben Simmons was atleast good for a few years but Markelle Fultz was just depressing.
Tbf it's not Philly's fault he developed an illness that made him literally lose his shot. By the time they reach the pros these guys have put thousands of hours into their shot, you can't come back from that.
Markelle fultz was the consensus #1 pick lol were any of y’all even old enough to understand drafts then?
Not our fault. They were 2 of the most no-brainer #1 picks we’ve ever seen. Freak injuries (Fultz) and mental issues (Ben) screwed us.

The king has returned 🎉🎉🎉
And now Harden is with the Clippers
Mikal Bridges mom also WORKED for the Sixers organization at the time of the draft……😂😂 can’t get more home town than that!!!!

nobody could have predicted that bum simmons would turn out to be a bust. The other picks Jalil Okafor and Markel Fultz were the correct picks at the time. If a guy looks and plays like Michael Jordan in college but turns out to be Kwame Brown, what can you do.

Just imagine how much more obvious their failure would be if Embiid didn't fall to third.
That Tatum game 7 was amazing to watch live
Tobias Harris getting that contract is still hilarious
You know the nail was hit when a video is basically a timeline of behaviors.
20:11 I was watching this game live and when PJ got that and-1 then immediately started cussing out Joel, it was so damn funny and the most PJ Tucker thing ever
18:40 “But they have never gone so far as to check out and give up on their team in the most important game of the season”
Lebron. 2011 NBA finals. Game 4. 8 points & 0-6 against Jason Kidd/Jason Terry. He also fell apart in the 4th quarter of multiple games that series as it went on. He mentally checked out. But don’t take my word for it. Here’s Lebron’s:
“My first year in Miami, I was down there, I wanted to prove everybody wrong. And I literally lost myself in the moment. I got all the way to the championship that year and lost. Afterward, I was like, we lost because I wasn’t even there.”
