    Do srt4 neons have a vent on the transmission to vent out pressure ?

    Try using mobile1 high mileage oil, your transmission and synchros will thank you.

      Agreed Bud! I stopped using FM based on Ed Peters recommendation and what he says about ATF makes sense, now that I got a built DCR tranny coming in next week I'll definitely be moving away from ATF..

      Are you talking about putting engine oil in replace of tranny fluids? If so, can you see/feel a difference?

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  5 лет назад +3

      Hi Doc702! Engine oil is one option, the 10W-40 that I'm using now is for motorcycles, both this oil and the Mobil HM oil seem to work better than the original ATF that came with these cars.

    You should always remove the fill cap before the drain plug. In this case it’s not as important because the rubber plug seems easy to get off.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  4 года назад

      I think your right Christopher, It may also allow the oil to come out a little smother as the air can go in the top plug, thanks for the tip!

    you should actually "overfill" this trans as it was originally designed for a vehicle that had the trans at a slightly different angle, adding @3 qts helps cover the shaft that is exposed with less fluid in it....

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Год назад

      Hi! While there are people that fill the transmission differently I try to follow the service manual as close as possible, which as mentioned on the video it calls out for fill within 3/16" below the fill hole. Cheers!

    How much oil? And whats the best oil?

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  4 года назад +1

      Hi Troylee! it takes a little under 3 quarts. I used Mopar ATF +4 when I was on stock tranny, since I have upgraded to a DCR built tranny I'm now running Valvoline 10w40 ATV/Motorcycle Oil. Thanks for watching bud!

    Question, mopar trans fluid is expensive, is it ok if to use Castrol Transmax ATF+4 in my 1999 neon 2.0

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Год назад

      Hi Jett! I'm not familiar with the standard Neon but I would recommend sticking to the fluid recommended by the service manual (sometimes they sell non Mopar fluid that also meet the spec of the oil required at a lower price). I think of it this way, the right fluid as expensive as can be still cheaper than a failed transmission. Hope this helps, Cheers!

    this is a dumb question but where are the best jack points for the front of the car?

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  3 года назад

      Hi Nice gaming! I use the factory jacking points, there are two on the front and two in the rear. They are really the pinch weld but it has a slight fold to it, the front ones are approximately towards the front of the driver and passenger doors. The rear ones are also towards the end of the rear doors. I am working on a video covering this but hope this helps in the meantime bud!

    Automatic tranny fluid for manual transmission?

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  3 года назад

      Hi Nicholas! yep! now it is believe Dodge did that so they could save time and money when they were built on the same assembly line that produced the automatic one. Which is the reason some people use engine oil instead (typically Mobil 1 High Mileage oil) instead of the factory recommended one. Hope this helps bud and thanks for watching!

    ATF+1 can be used for standard transmission as well? I have 2001 Standard Neon.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  4 года назад +1

      Hi Jose, I would double check with the autoparts store (I use NAPA, they know their cars) but as far as I know I believe they also take ATF+4. Not sure if you have the owners manuals, if you do it show say towards the back all the types of fluids it takes, please let us know what you find and thanks for watching my friend!

      @@AlexAutoFun unfortunately I do not have the original owner manual. I downloaded one online, and it recommends 10w30 although a lot of people recommend me 10w40 due to the millage ( 150,000 km ) so .. I'm in between. I'd appreciate your opinion

    • @AlexAutoFun

      @@joseurbalejo6532 Ahh yes I would also recommend the 10w40, I ran than and the 10w30 (Mobil High Milage Oil), the 10w40 seemed to give me crispier shifts and super affordable to change, hope this helps bud!

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  5 лет назад +5

      Good question, there is no filter used by the SRT4 tranny, frequent oil changes help keep the transmission fluid clean

  • @TBZ_Productions

    Still didn’t teach me how to check it

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Год назад

      Hi ToolioBoyZooted! The SRT4 service manual uses the fill amount as the amount of oil required so that is the reason I go by fill amount for fill level. If you are leaking fluid or just want to check the level for some reason I seen people refer to no more than 3/16" from below the bottom of the fill hole and some people check the fill level by adding fluid until comes out the fill hole (keep in mind I have not seen anything official on this 2 methods, this is just what I seen in the community). There maybe a spec from NV on this but since I base my service on the SRT4 service manual, I go by fill amount. Hope this helps, Cheers!
