Awesome awesome awesome!!!! One of my favorite builds of yours. The driver figure is absolutely spot on!! Really blurs the line between static model and RC.
Superb job Glenn. As a military Land Rover restorer as well as a Tamiya RC fan, I can say that is one of your best jobs. Looks amazing. Top bollocks. 😉👍🏻
Spot on with your comment on being a model first and foremost and also a RC car 👊 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 I think thats why the sand scorcher was also such an epic milestone for tamiya as it crossed over so beautifully between fun hobby and how much detail and skill you wanted to invest in the iconic bodywork - probobly why there is so much you tube content on this one kit - Great work Glenn 🤗
Defo go back for the sliver buckles; I do think they'll look good. Probably worth a few more silver touches on the visor, steering wheel and gear knob linkage. Some coats of clear coat could help to protect although you'd need to take it apart again but then you'd be able to run it...
Paint just the shaft of gear shift silver leaving the knob and the skirt of it black. I think it was stand out a little better.but great job. Keep up the good work
Nice car mate, glad you done a part 3 to this series, I agree with you that these cars are models more than rc cars. I think this is because back when this car was made Tamiya were big on there scale military models and still breaking into the rc scene so models like the FAV and XR311 were glorified scale models. In my opinion it was these cars that got a lot of people young and old into the hobby and helped make it what it is today. Nice job and keep up the good work.
Glenn.... That turned out to be INCREDIBLE!!! 😎👌👍👍 Right, even the Driver Figger came out fantastic! I agree, the paintwork was spot on and crisp. Even though I can't possibly afford it, now you've made me want a FAV!!! 😳😎😞 The Wild One will always top me list, but I love your FAV. Cheers 🍻🍻 Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Tamiya make an abs resin glue. Super glue etc is too brittle. This abs resin stuff is rock solid. Congratulations on a beautiful FAV. As Bud Voss says in this promo video “it’s almost too realistic”.
That's sweet. Great job. I think that with all of the tamiya cars from the late 70s till the end of the 80s had a realistic model look to them, the super shot had this gnarly realistic look to it saying don't mess with me. I'm feeling all nostalgic
Looks really great Glenn. I certainly ran mine loads in the 80's but it's a shelfer now. It is a practical runner but paint does chip off the roll bars. Also the drivers arm falls off. I really wish I'd bought the re-release of this when it came out so I could have a runner. I think that you may be wise to keep yours on the shelf as it's just too nice!
Rc aircraft stainless clevises and threaded bar would be a quick solution to the steering components that are missing as its ten times easier to cut a bar to correct length, add turnbuckle and clevis, without also additional effort of adding a dogleg at the servo saver end
hey that turned out amazing! If you decide to bother with the belt buckles, a silver paint pen with a fine tip would be the easiest way to spruce up that driver. Great build!
Really good job, don’t run it , keep it in mint condition. You will kick yourself if you damage it & you have so many other cars to run . Get a rere if you really want to run one , it’s a lovely thing 👌🏻👍🏼
I now have watched all three videos and thanks great job. But would love to see a running video on grass so the bottom paint will not take a beating. Was unsure on what to do for paint on mine. But now I have a better idea.
That come out supper very good job and the thing of it is with that vehicle it's like the wild Willy Jeep the original with the guys in it it's what makes the vehicle you know cuz it's a good size and then funky looking inside it's the actual shape of it that makes that whole thing connect but like I said I want some job my friend I don't blame you for not wanting about it
@@TAMIYALegendsits a pleasure. Actually, with your knowledge and experience do you have any idea as to where I might be able to buy Egress decals from? re release or originals.
Superb work Glenn, looks fantastic. Out of interest, what was more work - this or the Subaru brat? I'm guessig the latter but this is pretty involved from a paint p.o.v!
Looks really good mate. I want one! You’re not giving it away as a prize for the gobby’est subscriber are you? By the way, as a plastic modeller, I would avoid hand painted gloss paints like the plague. It almost never works and takes ages to dry. Paint Matte, clear gloss.
Alan Morris Lol no unfortunately not 😂👊🏻 Yes in hindsight, given what I know now I would’ve definitely done a clear matt finish 😬 Thanks as always my friend
The cornering on the FAV was absolutely terrible! I had to add weight to the nose for the front wheels to get enough traction to go round corners 😕 also what are belk buttles ? 😂🤪

Lol 😂. Oh boy doe’s that arm fall off, I must of glued it at least three times 😂👊🏻
@@TAMIYALegends what I did with the arm was to fill it with Abro Steel and then tap a screw into it from inside the body. Didn't fall off then!
Looks awesome! I know what you mean when you say it's almost like a model rather than an RC, it is like that. Looks great! 👌😎
RC Hobby Shed
Yeah it’s definitely one buggy I’d rather look at than run lol 😂
It looks amazing but these cars were built to be driven. I agree with the other comments clear coat it and get out and have some fun .

This one is done with now, but hopefully I’ll come across a re-re to run in the future 🤞🏻

When I painted mine long ago I sealed the paint , it made a big difference but I never ran it hard

Would it help spraying it with clear coat to help the green from coming off? Or would it be to shinny
