Gosh this audio is so clean and just satisfying to listen to....I love this video. Thanks so much for making this video. I've been on a search for how to improve my RUclips audio. Now I can finally stop searching and apply this video's lessons.. Gosh...I cant tell you how happy i am right now.
I gotta say, when I started watching your videos, the first thing that stuck out to me is the quality of audio. It has a certain clarity that I have never seen before from other RUclipsrs. It makes the content that much more compelling where I’m less likely to click off the video like other RUclipsrs. Well done. This is the gold standard and I am going to try and replicate it.
I know this video is about audio, but I like the new lighting for you studio. Before was nice dark colors, but this one is more pleasing to the eyes. Please keep up the great work!
Thanks Clinton! Agreed on lighting. I really struggled with that too. New lighting helped, but what also made a big difference was buying an R5 and shooting in C-Log. That expanded the dynamic range and brought out more shadow detail.
I've been following your posts for a year or so, and I've always loved the audio quality--it's simply better than most of the other channels I watch. So even though I don't produce video content, I still wanted to learn how you do it. You break down the issues and the solutions in an easy-to-grasp style. Good stuff, Todd, and thank you.
Great video! This is exactly what I've been looking for. Have been hopping around to different videos trying to learn about how to do voiceovers in Premiere for this purpose and this was the best guide on it I've seen.
You are such a professional, i was about to click the like while watching and discovered i allready liked it, Thank you so much, i can see how much you invested in making these videos, both financially and talent wise, Thank you very much for this, it helped me a lot
I just wanted to say thank you for this incredible video. Your explanations are so comprehensive and in depth. I can't thank you enough, best wishes to you!
What a fantastic Video. I just wish you used Davinci Resolve but I realise everything you used can be applied to DR in Fairlight so this was super helpful and you probably just cost me some money !! 😅
Thank you 🙏 sharing your experience is more then needed for me, because I’ve just started working on different ideas for my music channel. And to actually try them I need to record my voice (not the vocals, cause for vocals I’ll probably go for some effects or use natural reverb of the room) and edit it to achieve cleanness and smoothness, so you helped a lot! Cheers!
Hey! I want to say thanks for making this video especially the effects you use for your audio, I’ve been looking for something like this for sometime and I could never find a video that hooked me like yours. I’m stoked to make the audio on my videos a lot better
I always visit this guy's channel to add to my toolkit. I scored a Zoom H2N for a song and break dance recently. I set it to voice compression and low cut filter on, went line out to line in of my camera (X-S10 Fuji) with the X/Y mic selected and it sounds every bit as good as my Mixcast 4 or H5N and way better than my H1N. I'm going to search his channel for his version of a low budget RUclips studio. I'd love to see his version and how much $ he used for it.
Hi Todd.. Thanks for this video... I finally got my Seinmheiser after watching what it can do through your channel. Looks like you partitioned your room to have a great background.. any idea on what you used in achieving that?
Thanks for such an amazing video, one question, have you ever edited and added audio plug-ins on adobe audition and then exported the audio to the premiere? I wonder if its better to start editing on audition or just start on premier from the get-go
Please make more videos talking about the MKH416, I have 2 mke600 and 1 MKH416 I use the 2 mke600 with with zoom h1 and zoom h4 pro to record stereo and my MKH416 I really don't use it because I am dumb and I think is going to get damaged or scratches.
Hi Todd, I really liked your video and I will try to apply what I saw in my next video: in my videos (I'm Italian and I speak English in my videos or something very similar 😂) I hear the noise when I have to catch my breath to prepare for the next speech, is it something that can be solved? Because in my opinion it is very bad to hear! Thank you !A big ciao from Italy, Alberto
Another great video, Todd. I'm curious about how you arrived at your choice of the MKH416. Did you compare it to other mics like the MKH50 or MKH8060, super cardioid mics that are a little more directional? I ask because I need to pick up a couple mics in this class and my application is similar to yours. Unfortunately, there is no local shop where I can go to do any kind of comparison. I'll probably just have to rent a handful of them. I'm trying to narrow down my choices.
You might want to cover 32 bit float recorders in the future, especially for those new to audio. It’s a game charger. For those that don’t know it’s like working with a RAW image file, but for audio.
@@slickhatter9812 32-bit float is not attractive because of higher quality. It is attractive because you can record signals exceeding 0 dBFS. You have so much headroom that you really don't need to set gain. Some 32-bit float recorders don't even include a gain control.
I sometimes use a wireless mic (Rode) that records internal tracks as backups, which have saved me a few times when accidentally setting my gain too hot and distorting audio. Otherwise, I don’t use a second mic.
I have one Sennheiser MKH 416 for voiceover, but I want to have a separate microphone for when I’m reading with another person. Should I buy another 416, or I want Neive TLM103, should I buy that instead? (I rather have one of each). Your thoughts.
what are you using to reccord the audio seperatly, If i understand correctly, you are reccording with your camera and picking up the normal audio the camera would get while also reccording the audio seperately, then syncing? im just trying to fully understand so i can get a better idea as im really trying to start creating videos for my real estate channel im working.
I want to do in real life videos and record from someone else’s phone but use my phone for audio and then to talk into , how can I do that ? Is there any apps or ways so that I could just get the audio and put it over the clips /footage ?
Just to let everyone know, the PlugIn Alliance SPL De-Verb Plugin Todd mentions is only 9 bucks currently, down from 49 bucks, so even cheaper than you could imagine !!
I don't know where to begin! I want only to record poetry. No visuals... yet. I forget even how to download a video! HELP!! I do have a RUclips channel but forget how to use it.
May your success always be, and your sound be abundant Interested friends can check out our Home Studio Microphone comparison videos. Stay with the music.....
Talk about a master class 😂
Most people will probably be overwhelmed by this. Audio is such a tall task
You basically made a television show all about audio!!! This is super helpful and you’re a boss for making a 21 minute video
Gosh this audio is so clean and just satisfying to listen to....I love this video.
Thanks so much for making this video. I've been on a search for how to improve my RUclips audio. Now I can finally stop searching and apply this video's lessons..

Imagine editing a video about editing video. Todd, you're a gem bro - Doing this is easy or fun for nobody.
Thank-you! I have been searching for at least a year to find this specific video! Wish it would’ve shown up in my RUclips feed.
First time I am hearing about how this Audio editing procedure, sounds good.
I know this video is about audio, but I like the new lighting for you studio. Before was nice dark colors, but this one is more pleasing to the eyes. Please keep up the great work!

Thank you so much. Your video is so informative, high quality and straight to the point. I'm glad that RUclips recommended your video.

This has to be one of the best audio videos I've seen on RUclips, well produced video there!
Real quality audio/video. I love your stuff because I learn a lot from you.
This is seriously like a master class in recording audio for video. Things I never even considered or thought about before! Thank You!
😅
Thank you very much, Todd! That's been of a huge help! I have been searching for this kind of beginner-friendly video on RUclips for quite a while!
Fabulous video on audio, like a master-class... well done
Insane quality video sir. Gives me 'Masterclass' vibes + you have a great voice haha
The best sound enhancing tutorial. Thank you
I've been using premiere for a while now, and just now today I learned that you could syncronize the audio automatically
like this...
Nicely done. I haven’t spent a lot of time on my audio with filters and such, but this makes me want to play around a little bit more.

Maybe I’m missing it, but I wish FCPX had good audio sync features. Thanks for the great tips!

very informative video. is there a way to correct monotone? My voice sounds very boring. Can I correct this through editing?
I like your makeup and lipstick - you look like a male Candice Bergen. She's great!

Great video, very helpful thanks! Do you know if there's a way to save these as a pre-set? Cheers

Someday I hope to own one! RAW-like audio is mind-bending to me.
24 bit is more than enough - it has been and always will be.

Any insight on where to get that shock mount for the 416?
I loved your video, thanks a lot for sharing all those tips. How long does it take you to do a voiceover of around 10 minutes long?
Great video! Do you use a backup recording in case anything bad happens?
I sometimes use a wireless mic (Rode) that records internal tracks as backups, which have saved me a few times when accidentally setting my gain too hot and distorting audio. Otherwise, I don’t use a second mic.
Gold
What file format do you save the videos in and what bit rate do you use for your RUclips videos?

I guess I missed it. What software do you use to record? Or where does it record to?
But what programme do you usee to actually record your voice?

Jesus... I wish this video was shorter. Blah, blah, blah.
too much talking, just go straight to the point
This good advice. I heard another way... in your closet. Its windowless and its quiet. At least mines.
