The writers for the movies openly stated they favored Hermione's character. They didn't do the other characters justice, often giving lines or explanations from other characters to Hermione instead. The characters I thought they changed the most was Ginny and Ron. They made Ron more of a coward and an idiot, they made him comic relief. His character WAS smart, courageous, and fiercely loyal. Ginny was all those things and more. She took no crap from anyone, was outspoken, and in the books she was described as beautiful as well. She was popular and quick to anger, talented at quidditch, and also a good friend to Harry before becoming more. It was sad we never got to see that version of Ginny, it was sad that many of the characters were flat in the films, often missing the growth their characters had in the series and turning Hermione into an info dump that even when she was being saved was instructing her less useful companions how to save her. You see it in the first film where Hermione tells Ron swish and flick to save her from the troll when in the book she was a terrified mess, scared out of her mind. Later she froze again when she forgets she's a witch and can cast fire. While Hermione was smart, Ron was the one who often kept his head in these situations and helped her. It balances their characters. The movies tried to make Hermione OP while taking away from other characters. The romance for Harry and Ginny seemed out of place in the movies and just weird.
Here’s a hot take for the first half of half blood prince I didn’t think Ginny was portrayed that badly But after the slug club meeting they fuck up ginnys character completely
The worst part, is they used Hermione to explain things that there was no way she could have known. Some things they gave her that Ron did in the books were things that were just natural to mages and there was no reason Hermione would have known.
@@kou7191 I very highly suggest reading the books, your opinion of Ron would be radically changed, about the entire Weasley family most likely. That, and you get to meet Peeves lol. Dobby is a MUCH bigger loss in the books though.
Yea the reason they didn't have the ginny we wanted is because they cut the quidditch cup from order of the phoenix. And they didn't show ron as a team member to begin with. They cut all her whitty remarks in order of the phoenix so she didn't have any backbone in the half blood prince to stand on. Because of this we didn't get readjusted with her and harry talking together after she started being able to talk around harry.
The reason is also that the directors behind the project were huge Harmoine shippers, and were trying to change the ending for the movie to appease their shipping.
@@Anti-infleuncer No no the house elf stuff was never cool at all. SPEW! But it was kinda funny. They should have used it as Hermione's comedic relief. Like something shes so serious about that everyone else thinks is stupid but she keep going to progressively desperate lengths to free the house elves.
The writers did ginny dirty but not nearly a bad as they did ron every good idea and courageous act ron had in the books was given to hermione in the movies
Personally, I actually think the character they did the dirtiest was Hermione. Many would disagree, but book Hermione was seriously flawed, and part of her charm was overcoming those flaws. In the movies she's already absolutely perfect, she has zero growth at all. By giving everything big to Hermione, they actually lessened her.
The sad thing is, the producers have admitted that they preferred Harry and Hermione together over Harry and Ginny together which is why they put so much focus on Harry and Hermione and basically NOTHING on Harry and Ginny :/
They preferred it because they didn't even read the books. Everyone who has read it knows that Ginny is the only one for Harry. She is feisty, incredibly brave, stubborn and a bada*s. She makes Harry accountable and stands up to him when he is having one of his meltdowns (he has a lot of those in the books, which makes sense since he is the Chosen One) and/or is being a jerk. They gave many Ginny's characteristics to Hermione in the films, which sucks. She is like a female version of Fred and George. Harry needed someone to call him out on his crap and to defy him, a strong and decisive personality. One of the most important scenes they had in the books was Harry playing the victim and Ginny reminding him that she also knew how it was like to be manipulated by Voldemort. It was a crucial moment since Harry felt a lot of guilt after Sirius' death. I really like Ginny. I personally am more like the Book Hermione in real life, but I wish I was more like Ginny and she is definitely one of my favourite characters with the twins and Luna.
To be fair it’s not much different the books to be fair . In the books she went from fangirling to dating a bunch of guys , to being his gf for a month and some change and him “ missing her for an entire school year” 30 minutes of screen time is more then the book honestly .
Not just what was cut, but what was left in but heavily altered. Ginny and Ron were the 2 most beloved characters in the books. they actually gave Luna a bigger role in the movies than they did Ginny, who was actually a major character in the books.
Fun fact: There was one scene filmed with Peeves, but he was distracting the kids and making them laugh too much and causing them to forget their lines, so they had to cut him out of the movie series.
@@princesssunset8362 That and they couldnt get the graphics to work properly to make him seem what he was. Would be much easier to put him in today, but back then computer graphics werent what they are now.
Yeah, I’m kinda more of a Luna and Harry shipper. I’ve always thought that Luna was a more fun and unique character. And despite how odd she was, I like how Harry eventually warmed up to her and became protective of her. 😊 However, if I had to make a choice between Book Ginny and Movie Ginny, then I’d definitely choose the former. In the book, Ginny is a much more realistic character. She’s the baby of the family, so her parents are automatically protective of her. In her first year, she develops an adorable school girl crush on Harry, which sadly doesn’t get acknowledged or well received by the object of her affections. (And that’s kinda of expected since Harry was 12 at the time.) Fast forward a couple of years and she’s grown into a pretty cool person. She’s good at Quidditch as well as dueling. She has her own friends as well as a steady rotation of boyfriends. She also proved to be brave and valuable member of Dumbledore’s Army. And she’s a bit of a spitfire. Meanwhile, Movie Ginny is a lot more water down and the only screen time that she has are the key moments when her relationship with Harry changes. And due to the lack of development for her character in the movies, that made the moments with Harry kinda meh. So, while I think that she developed well as a character in the books, I still don’t think that she was the best romantic partner for Harry. In my opinion, typically when a person has a reputation for dating around, then they strike me as the settling down type. And Ginny had a lot of boyfriends before Harry. Also, as a woman, I don’t understand other women who still pine for a guy who rejected them multiple types. I mean I get Harry reject her at age 12, but he showed absolutely no interest in her when he did start to like girls. He had crushes on girls like Cho and Fleur; Ginny wasn’t even on his radar. The only time Harry wanted Ginny was when he saw her with another guy. Jealousy shouldn’t be the trigger that starts romantic desires or attraction. A genuine interest in the person as well as mutual attraction and friendship should be the foundation for a romantic relationship. I think JK Rowling just made a Harry and Ginny a thing to make Harry an “official” member of the Weasley family.
Stopp this was so perfectly written. As a person who has only watched the movies (huge fan) I’ve always had the same question: “When did Harry ever even like Ginny?”. I remember that one scene in the movie where Harry and Ron were laying in bed and Harry said he thought Ginny was pretty. But even the way he said it struck me more as a friendly way and not a “omg I’m in love with her” way. Also, in the Half blood Prince, I don’t like oh they made it seem like Ginny threw herself at him. I say that because in the room of requirement, she kissed him, unannounced. Not the other way around
If im not mistaken, harry started to have feelings for her when they spent more time with each other (including the other 2 friends). This was also the time ginny acted more like herself. I think harry took notice of changes in her personality and thats when she got noticed. And ginny was busy with her other life activities and didnt reciprocated/or noticed harrys feelings right away even though he was her crush.
The book is quite clear that she "dated around" because Hermione suggested she sees other guys to try and get used to being around guys so she doesnt freeze up while around Harry. Harry was always the only one she ever actually loved. And to be fair, it worked. Once Ginny was able to be herself around Harry he noticed her. The only reason Harry held off on her as long as he did was because she was his best friends little sister, and he was afraid Ron would never accept it.
@@mathilda____7928 It's not that she didnt notice, its that she was following Hermione's advice and keeping a distance until she could be herself around Harry and at least be friends first. Ginny never stopped noticing anything Harry did. Once she was able to be herself around him, Harry started noticing. She had to stop being a fangirl first.
I’ve always said to do the Books justice. You would need an entire season and a TV show. I grew up going to the midnight releases for these movies and I loved them but as I get older, I just realize there’s so much they didn’t get right.
Movies sure, I'd actually agree, but not in the books. NOBODY fits Harry like Ginny in the books. She is the only one that can cut through "the boy who lived" and reach Harry Potter the boy. She brought him back down to Earth reminding him that he's just another boy like everyone else and to focus in the now. Harry doesnt succeed in his task without Ginny grounding him to reality.
People interpret what they want somehow. The relationship in the book didnt just appear out of nowhere. Ginny literally had to work at it just to be comfortable enough around Harry to just be herself. Once she was, they became close friends, and they massively bonded over Quidich. Beyond that, Ginny was the one that always stepped in and re-grounded Harry whenever he was lost in his own mental darkness. People forget how often she brought Harry back from stepping over the edge into despair. Ginny is the one that helped him when he thought he was being possessed, Ginny is the one that humbled him when he let his fame get to his head... it was always Ginny. But people ignore that.
Never liked Ginny myself lol She had more presence in the books though, but still imo she was a very secondary character 😂. Literally had to go back and read where was Harry’s interest for her coming from when I read HBP because I didn’t get it and assumed she used a love potion lmao because there was talk about love potions in this book and she had been obsessed about Harry when she was younger. I spent that book waiting for the other shoe to drop on that one and it never did 😂 I was around 16 when I read that. I miss being a “Potterhead”. 🥹
I dont think it matters. Harry Potter isn't a love story as a whole. It's action, adventure, and friendship. Not everything needs to make the romantic relationship front and center. There are plenty of other storylines out there that focus on the love interest. We aren't missing anything.
Actually it's entirely a love story. The central plot is based around every form of love, but romantic love is central. Snape/lily, lily/James, bellatrix/voldemort, Harry/cho, cho/Cedric, harry/ginny, hermione/Ron, tonks/Remus. And so on. If you've ever read the books, romantic love takes a central part of the entire story.
It’s not so much about the love thing, but rather that on-screen Harry basically fell in love with and married a character that is nearly a cameo despite being the sister of his very best friend. Like sure it’s focused on the main trio but when she comes up it’s like “oh shit look, a Ginny reference in the background!”
It's not unrealistic but that just isn't true to her character in the books. It would be like if Hermione was lazy in the movies, it just wouldn't match up or make sense
@@plainoolong More like making Hermione stupid than lazy. Or more like writing Usain Bolt run slower than a 500 pound man. Ginny was many things, but a damsel in distress was never one of them.
As Harry’s love interest she should’ve gotten way more screen time to develop her character, from just the movies it felt kinda weird almost forced. I kinda wish he got with Cho.
@@DarkEclipse23 Yh but although the run time was long it would’ve made more sense to at least at a bit more of her in to show her and Harry interacting
Ginny was Harry's mate since book 2. Only she knew what it was like to be manipulated by Lord Voldemort and the scene where she states that to Harry is one of my favourites. Only a strong, fierce and decisive personality like Ginny could make Harry own up to his craps. Harry has a lot of meltdowns and jerk moments in the books, which is normal for someone who is basically hunted during seven books, but Ginny is the only one who can stand up to him. I really like her. I am more like Book Hermione in real life, but I wish I was more like Book Ginny. She is brave, luminous, funny, strong, fiery and confident. She is the female version of Fred and George. It really annoys me that people say they preferred Harry with Hermione without having read the books. Hermione and Ron are like yin and yang: they balance each other out. Ginny makes Harry feel lighter and at the same time puts him in his place. Only someone like her could end up with the Chosen One and the hero that ended Lord Voldemort's life and brought peace to the Wizarding World.
I say this same stuff all the time. Ginny is the reason Harry was able to find the strength to do what he needed to do sometimes, and she's also the reason he was never lost in the fame of who he was. Ginny was his center, and the movies dont even try explaining that.
It wasnt suddenly after 5 years. In the books Ginny always locked up and fangirled whenever she was around Harry. It took her a couple years of dating other guys on Hermione's suggestion to loosen up and be comfortable around Harry. Once she did they actually became close friends. It took so long for anything to happen because she was Ron's little sister and Harry was afraid he wouldnt approve. Once Harry no longer cared if Ron approved or not he flat out kissed her in front of everyone and Ron just shrugged like "if you must". Harry slowly grew interest in her as they became closer friends and playing quiddich together drew them even closer.
She actually showed some of that spunk and attitude in movie 5 (just a lil bit) and BIG SHOCK that movie was written by Michael Goldenberg who actually pays attention to the source material and adapted that book beautifully (yes I know it doesn't include every single detail of the book, that's why it's a good ADAPTATION) Bonnie Wright is an attractive woman but she just doesn't have that... Fire that Ginny is supposed to have. Now to be perfectly fair, I think their relationship is undercooked as hell in the books too, in fact if there's one thing that's consistently bad in the books and movies, it's the romance.
People gotta get it through their heads that it’s not the actors fault like 97% percent of the time. If a who film crew doesn’t know how is a little girl supposed to
Later in the series, the books were already out before the movies... they easily could have fixed it, it was a choice they made. So sorry, but blame is deserving.
Well she changed radically over the years lol. This is precisely why Hermione told her to date other guys to get used to it so she could just be herself around Harry.
I don’t have a lot of hope for the HBO show. Honestly I just wish they would have done an animated show, doesn’t get more book accurate than animation where you can do anything and make someone look spot on. That would have been new and fresh and different rather than remaking these iconic movies with already questionable casting choices. But yes definitely justice for Ginny, she deserved better
It wasn’t her fault. The movie producers underestimated how important she would be to the franchise even though most of Book 2 was dedicated to getting to know Ginny as a character 🤦♀️ Massive fail on their part
the books don't have much of her either which suck because she really is an interesting character. The only girl with 6 brothers. She is brave strong and fought the diary at 11 better then Ron at 17. A prominent DA member
I honestly don’t mind the differences between book and movie Ginny, it’s pretty clear that the romance between her and Harry was an afterthought anyway and that’s really the majority of her presence (when she’s not just part of the group) in the books anyway
Ginny, Ron and Harry yes the main character himself were done major injustice in the movies. They were nothing like their quirky, witty, savage book versions.
I didn't like Ginny either. Rowling originally had Hermione end up with Harry. Unfortunately she caved to fans and made it ginny 🙄 She regretted the decision.
I liked what I saw of Ginny, for whatever that's worth. I agree she needed more screen time as Harry's romantic interest. But she seemed kind, determined, and intelligent. And she's kinda cute, despite being Ron's sister. JK - I love Rupert Grint #nohomo. I wanted to see more of her, so - to me - she wasn't completely boring.
The movies cut all side stories, a number of characters, and even some main story plot. That's what happens when you condense 700+ pages into a sub-3-hour movie. What they did to Ginny is just a drop in the bucket of Harry Potter movie justice. Luckily HBO finally realized a real opportunity here. Can't wait.
Her character is a perfect example between good and bad writing. In the books she was portrayed as a shy and meek child that grew into a strong, competent and capable character. For whatever reason be it the film writers, producers, directors or whoever was in charge completely changed or ignored her. I don't think Bonnie hates Ginny necessarily as much as she hates the way she was portrayed in the movies. That being said I see why.
She wasnt even shy and meek as a child either, she was just fangirling over Harry, with anyone else she was a spitfire. Which is why even Ron pointed out that she was acting weird every time she was around Harry.
There will always be complaints about film adaptations of books. It’s a consequence of time that we all have to accept. They could make each book into 2 movies and make them each 3 hours long but the budget for that would be so big that each movie would have to make 2 billion dollars. Then people would complain that the movies are too long and move too slow. I’m always amused how rich actors say they hated a character… welcome to the real world where at least half of us have worked a job that we hated
Its not so much things that are cut out as the things that are changed for no reason to ruin certain characters to forcefully prop up others. Book Hermione isnt nearly as loved as movie Hermione, book Ginny is adored where movie Ginny is despised. Same for Ron, movie Ron is whiny and complainy and almost seems to despise Harry, book Ron would lay his life down for Harry in a heartbeat and never think twice about it. Movie Ron is the comedy sidekick, book Ron is the best friend everyone wants.
Ginny is my favorite character in the books and there's sooo many scenes I wish made it to the movies, and even as far as "love interest" goes, the movies didn't demonstrate the depth of her relationship with harry at all. Such as her also having a past connection to Voldemort's mind, the fact that she was a worthy replacement for him when he couldn't play quidditch, she challenged him mentally and was although they loved each other she was able to stand alone and be strong. I actually think in the books they make a great couple
Wait, wait, wait . . . the "worst adaptation from book to screen?" Pray tell how many adaptations are there? Sure I would have loved to see more Ginny, but I also would have loved to see Dumbledore berate the Dursleys like he did in Book 6.
They sure do in the books... Ginny is terrifying in the books. The entire school is terrified of her. She got invited into the Slug Club because of how she hexed someone out of spite lol. The Bat Bogey curse was her specialty.
Now I know the books are done and we shouldn’t have the problem we had with GOT, but that’s not the only thing screenwriters have fucked up about book adaptations. Ginny was never that good of a character.
I hated her line in the room of requirement when they were hiding the book. I watched the movies before I read the books and I hated it even more after reading the books.
I don't think she was bad. She was just given shit to deal with. I always loved her because of her presence even despite everything else, but do hate how they completely stripped almost everything 'Ginny' away.
Imagine reading about this badass character you think you’re going to play in this book’s movie adaption only to realise how little time you’re going to get and how boring the movie writers made her
This didnt happen sadly. The books werent out far enough to make Ginny the badass that she became. Ginny only started really coming into her own about book 4.
@@dalehammers4425 Ik. But even then, Rowling couldn’t have said “oh yeah, this is who Harry’s gonna end up with so idk, make sure to give her a personality in the movies”
Hilarious that they had to make her read Hermione’s lines . Also yeah sorry to her but she does not give Ginny Weasley at all, maybe next time they’ll cast someone oozing with charisma and energy cause Bonnie just ain’t it
To be honest the entire time I was watching Harry Potter I never even realized he had a single love interest because that’s how badly they wrote Harry’s love interest. They barely said anything and seemed almost mute and had no personality in the movies.
i honestly don’t mind the fact that they made her his love interest, but the otherwise lack of personality and character presence was always so frustrating to watch
Book Ginny is confident playful and extremely beautiful to the point that even slytherine was talking about her. They didn't do justice with anything with book Ginny tbh. I think she was flirty as well and had quite a few love interests....
We can tell she didn't like her. She just couldn't act at all. She was stiff as a board and awkward as crap. She could've hated her character, but still do her job bc she did in fact make a lot money and get a lot of notoriety from the films. If there was actual chemistry between her and Dan, she would've had more time on screen.
Movie Ginny was so boring indeed! I wouldn't call her a damsel in distress though, she was brave and competent, it's just that she barely had any personality traits and wasn't as fiery and savage as she was in the books. Tbh, I don't like book Ginny either but for different reasons
Book Ginny is fun, has a great personality and sense of humour, a plethora of friends and is quite popular, as well as insanely athletic, an all around good character. Movie Ginny just makes you think “not another fuckin Weasley” 😭😭
She did fine, I think Ginny was probably a little bit more difficult to develop on screen than in the books just due to her not being of utmost importance to the end game narrative. Marrying Harry doesn’t make her special either.
She was ridiculously important to the endgame in the books. She's the one that grounded Harry and brought him back from either his darkness (which is never shown in the movies) or his ego when fame got to his head. She's the one he went to when he thought he was losing his mind and being possessed by Voldemort. She's the ONLY person that was ever willing to stand up to him and treat him like a person instead of "the boy who lived". Ginny centered Harry and allowed him to refocus on things that mattered.
I think the biggest mistake they did was making the films while Jk Rowling was still writing the books. They should have waited with the films until all the books were finished.
You dont get to tell others to hush that know the entire story when you are willfully remaining ignorant of why people are upset. If anyone should hush it should be those that dont know what they are actually talking about.
They ruined all the characters except hermoine but even then eh. They kept giving hermoine everyone’s lines from the books to make her seem more smart and worldly and with Ginny they threw her aside because even though it didn’t happen they really wanted Harry with hermoine
Actually, I think they ruined Hermione the most. All other characters have their growth and come into their own... but they made Hermione so "perfect" that she has zero growth whatsoever in the movies. Book Hermione is a seriously flawed person and she's more loveable because of it. She's also a coward, she is not brave at all. But she overcomes that.
They made those movies in the old days when the long running epic fantasy series hadn't been invented yet and they weren't yet too concered with accuracy to the source material. We still ate it up though.
Idk I just feel like they wanted Harry to be in love so bad. First to was Cho, then the random girl he meet at the coffee shop and in the same movie, he was kissing Ginny. I haven’t read the books, only saw the movies so idk if Ginny’s character is better or not. But in the movie, she strikes me as so, so boring . Like there romance was so forced that it made me not like her. Maybe I need to read the books but genuinely it mad me so upset. I feel like I could’ve liked her more if there was something to like. On screen, it was like she was nothing more than the little sister, when she could’ve been so much more. Edit: I also wanted to add that the movie didn’t even give us a “why?”. Why did Harry choose Ginny? With Cho Chang, we knew it was because she was pretty, sweet and had an obvious crush. But I felt like they kinda just threw Ginny at Harry
In the book she’s courageous and insanely powerful. Her power is barely hinted at in the movie adaption mostly in order of the phoenix. I get it’s a movie adaption but she deserved a little more time.
The entire school is utterly terrified yet in awe of her, even the twins know better than crossing her. She even makes Malfoy silently creep away when she stands up to him. Book Ginny will utterly WRECK you.

Book Ginny is a very uninteresting Mary Sue. She's pretty, smart, funny, brave, kind, popular, an athlete, becomes a star, marries her high school sweetheart who just so happens to be the hero. She has no flaws.
Movie Ginny doesn't have a personality, so that's not better.
Nothing of that is Bonnie Wright's fault, but she is just a boring, generic hero character.
@@Anonym-h3h I mean, being suseptible to Voldemort's influence is a pretty huge flaw for her. Same with having a volatile temper. As well as jumping to incorrect conclusions.
She has plenty of flaws.

Bonnie did the best she could with what she was given. The writing and directing did Ginny real dirty (Ron too).
Now that I think about it a lot of the Weasleys got done dirty, charlie was taken out entirely
Can I ask why Ron too?
I don't blame her, book Ginny and movie Ginny are two different people. Book Ginny grew from Ron's little sister to being her own strong individual but movie Ginny was just there to connect Ron and Harry. People who read the books know that Harry and Ginny have arguably the best relationship
She got paid good money playing the character Ginny so why whine about it!

Here’s a hot take for the first half of half blood prince I didn’t think Ginny was portrayed that badly
But after the slug club meeting they fuck up ginnys character completely
I never read the books, but movie Ron always felt like that one "friend" who secretly hates you.
And ruining Emma’s acting skills in the process. 😢
Bonnie Wright could've played a wonderful sassy Ginny Weasley, but she did well with what she was given.
They cut way too much out of goblet, like why cut out the house elf stuff that stuff sounded really cool
@@shaimawahab5916 hmmm those devious bastards. As if Hermione would settle on scrawny little git?
@@Anti-infleuncer No no the house elf stuff was never cool at all. SPEW! But it was kinda funny. They should have used it as Hermione's comedic relief. @rsk6929 I kept asking "Where's Winky?!" nearly the entire movie
They didn’t write the books.
Yes , and Ron suffered too
The funniest thing is jk wanted the same too.
@@Aysannnsrons character dive had nothing to do with that drama. It was more spite.
It's crazy how she only got 30 minutes of screen time and yet she's still important
Because in the books she was massively important. Arguably the most after the trio and Malfoy.
Everyone hated Ginny in the films.....she was expressionless and boring
Tbf many girls are
I didnt hate her!
Agree
To be fair it’s not much different the books to be fair . In the books she went from fangirling to dating a bunch of guys , to being his gf for a month and some change and him “ missing her for an entire school year” 30 minutes of screen time is more then the book honestly .
To be clear, I do not have any issues with how the actress played Ginny. I have an issue with how much of Ginny they cut from the story. 😡
Not just what was cut, but what was left in but heavily altered. Ginny and Ron were the 2 most beloved characters in the books. they actually gave Luna a bigger role in the movies than they did Ginny, who was actually a major character in the books.
I get it, when you cut a 700 page book to a 2 hour movie, you make some cuts. The movies also cut peeves the poltergeist which would have been fun
Honestly I felt Luna was a better fit for Harry
Absolutely
Right!?
Movies sure, I'd actually agree, but not in the books. NOBODY fits Harry like Ginny in the books. She is the only one that can cut through "the boy who lived" and reach Harry Potter the boy. She brought him back down to Earth reminding him that he's just another boy like everyone else and to focus in the now. Harry doesnt succeed in his task without Ginny grounding him to reality.

They could have given her some improved moments, though. Movie Ginny wasn't that interesting or heroic.
Obviously.
She probably doesn’t hate Ginny, she probably hates how bad the writers made the character
I liked Ginny. She should've had more screen time and a more active roll.
The Harry/Ginny pairing was set up literally from Book 2. How dense can people be to not get that? 😆
I hated her casting too. They just casted her for the red head.
Bonnie is such a gorgeous person and that’s how Ginny is SUPPOSED TO BE but did they show Bonnie’s actual beauty when playing her NOPE
Outside of the fifth movie, every movie Ginny Weasley is there, she has the personality of a plank of wood. I don't blame Bonnie Wright for this.
She was a big part of action adventure and friendship

I don't care what people say unless they read the book.
I say this same stuff all the time. Ginny is the reason Harry was able to find the strength to do what he needed to do sometimes, and she's also the reason he was never lost in the fame of who he was. Ginny was his center, and the movies dont even try explaining that.
This guy is always speed talking.
Here’s my biggest question why did Harry after five years of knowing her certainly start having a crush on her doesn’t make any sense
She's only in the books for a few pages as well.
This is outright bullshit.
Wright might have been the reason Ginny got no screen time, she was the worste actor of the bunch
never cared for Ginny in the movies. but that wasn't Bonnie Wright's fault. lazy writing is to blame for that
She actually showed some of that spunk and attitude in movie 5 (just a lil bit) and BIG SHOCK that movie was written by Michael Goldenberg who actually pays attention to the source material and adapted that book beautifully (yes I know it doesn't include every single detail of the book, that's why it's a good ADAPTATION)
Bonnie Wright is an attractive woman but she just doesn't have that... Fire that Ginny is supposed to have.
Now to be perfectly fair, I think their relationship is undercooked as hell in the books too, in fact if there's one thing that's consistently bad in the books and movies, it's the romance.
Yess, the romances could’ve been a hell lot better developed
People gotta get it through their heads that it’s not the actors fault like 97% percent of the time. If a who film crew doesn’t know how is a little girl supposed to
Later in the series, the books were already out before the movies... they easily could have fixed it, it was a choice they made. So sorry, but blame is deserving.
Ginny was a weirdly obsessed fan girl who kept a shrine to Harry. It is kinda crazy to think he would be interested in his creepy stalker.
Well she changed radically over the years lol. This is precisely why Hermione told her to date other guys to get used to it so she could just be herself around Harry.
Was a shame we didn't get to see her bat bogey hex in the films 😂
Ginny had her own things going on during all of that: I'm honestly surprised she didn't get her own couple of books.
Seriously disagree.
Ginny, Ron and Harry yes the main character himself were done major injustice in the movies. They were nothing like their quirky, witty, savage book versions.
I agree with her i wish we would have seen more of ginny. She is one of my favorite characters.
Can't wait.
I just hope they stay true to the books. I dont mind leaving things out, that has to happen, but dont change stuff that dont need changed.
Book Ginny was a strong, sassy character that you felt invested in following. Movie Ginny felt flat and was downright embarrassing in comparison.
She's beautiful!
I can understand her
Movie Ginny DID have a tiny bit of sassy moments but WAY too little 😞 I love Bonnie Wright for confessing this ❤
Every time you say her name I keep thinking I'm hearing Bonnie Rait. 😂
I firmly believe the writers HATED the Weasley family, they did all of them dirty in the movies
30 mins was more than enough. We hated Ginny too.
I actually think in the books they make a great couple
i’m not surprised, in the movies she was written completely differently from the books
They did ginny dirty in the movies
Wait, wait, wait . . . the "worst adaptation from book to screen?" Pray tell how many adaptations are there? Sure I would have loved to see more Ginny, but I also would have loved to see Dumbledore berate the Dursleys like he did in Book 6.
I don't think Ginny was a "lame damsel". They establish in Order of the Phoenix that Ginny is strangely powerful, but they don't do anything with it.
They sure do in the books... Ginny is terrifying in the books. The entire school is terrified of her. She got invited into the Slug Club because of how she hexed someone out of spite lol. The Bat Bogey curse was her specialty.
The show was called Harry Potter, not Ginny Weasley. She has unreasonable expectations.
Not really if you read the books. Ginny is Harry's foundation in many ways. She is his strength when he's weakest and most vulnerable.
@@dalehammers4425 The books are also called Harry Potter not Ginny Weasley.

Books are much different in that regard.
The movies failed Ron and Ginny.
So many of these Harry Potter actors are so rude and ungrateful for the beloved works and to JK Rowling who gave these little jerks so much.

Book Ginny is confident playful and extremely beautiful to the point that even slytherine was talking about her. They didn't do justice with anything with book Ginny tbh. I think she was flirty as well and had quite a few love interests....
Wait, she's just 33!?
Damn. She looks, like 40's.
She “hated it” still took her pay cheque though.
Actually, Warner Brothers blocked all attempts to recast Ginny.
She did the role they wrote for her. The issue was writing, not Bonnies ability to act.
I honestly never liked Ginny in the books or the movies and I felt like her being with Harry was forced.
Movie Ginny was so boring indeed! I wouldn't call her a damsel in distress though, she was brave and competent, it's just that she barely had any personality traits and wasn't as fiery and savage as she was in the books. Tbh, I don't like book Ginny either but for different reasons
The thing is Bonnie was a perfectly fine actress, my issue is with the writers, they did the character so dirty
Ginny in the book was a little spitfire for lack of better word.
Hellion works too lol.
I always wanted harry to be with hermione
I don't blame her, I hate movie Ginny too. The writers absolutely gutted her, especially in the later films.
The best actor in this franchise was the actor for peeves
She hated it so much she kept taking the role and cashing the checks
Wait til you realize that millions of people hate their jobs but continue working for the money...
Some of us don't care that the characters didn't match the book mostly cuz we didn't read the book and we don't care. The movies were good so hush.
We still ate it up though.
.... LOTR. Enough said😅
Idk I just feel like they wanted Harry to be in love so bad.
Edit:
I also wanted to add that the movie didn’t even give us a “why?”. Why did Harry choose Ginny? With Cho Chang, we knew it was because she was pretty, sweet and had an obvious crush. But I felt like they kinda just threw Ginny at Harry
Read the books and your questions will all be answered. For more than just Ginny lol.
Book Ginny and movie Ginny were two different characters. Book Ginny was one of my favorites, movie Ginny was just... There
Damsel? Only when she was 11, after that she was a beast!
The sorcerer's stone sounds so weird to anyone not from America it's the Philosopher's stone everywhere else
@@dalehammers4425 exactly I don’t understand why the movie adaption has her like this. Like weak. I would have rather that they just didn’t focus on her at all lol.
