  • Was out testing prop height and hit some rollers from a wakeboard boat that I never saw until I was in them... Lucky I didn't hook it

      Maybe.. I'm pretty green to pad v performance boats.... I didn't chop the throttle but I didn't hold it WOT either. Maybe 3/4 throttle. Didn't have much time to think and dont have my instincts fully developed yet 😁 .... I'm just glad I didn't hook it and get thrown through the rod locker!

    You handled it well. I’m not sure what I would do in that situation. Some say stay in the throttle, I’d probably let some (but not all) out.

      @@kemicalx17 That’s pretty much what I did. You just want to try to keep the bow from dropping and hooking.. It’s hard to make yourself stay in the throttle when it’s happening. Especially the first few times, but it is your best bet.

      You know how to keep the dreaded left-turn flip out from happening.
      I almost learned a hard lesson.
      Glad to see the correct advice on FB

    Bass boats have trolling motors...

      See the little white block on the bow? Quick disconnect.. can install and uninstall the troller in 2 minutes. No need in having it on there unless I’m actually bass fishing

    It's no fun to hook one. Did it for the first time last week. haha

      @aj06bolt12r  3 года назад

      Man I saw that! That was pretty serious... Really good presence of mind to grab the wheel from the floor and steer away from those boats on the bank at the last second! After all that work making the boat beautiful again... that would have been terrible. Did you go down with the PTP or are you keeping it there?

      @TNels 3 года назад

      @@aj06bolt12r Yeah that was a ride haha. Really glad there was no damage, would've been terrible, just getting the garage clean agin. PTP?

      @@TNels PTP = Prop to Pad. Was wondering if you lowered the engine any after that hook experience?

    • @TNels
      @TNels 3 года назад

      @@aj06bolt12r Oh gotcha. Nope everything the same. Just trying different props. The hook happened with a 30 cleaver, it rides pretty loose with a cleaver. I have a 28 chopper, 28 ET, and 30 chopper left to try. Propshaft is 1/2" above the pad. I have a hydraulic plate so I can adjust on the fly. But with the plate maxed I'm 1/2 above.
