I bought the parts to assemble a similar watch with the only differences are that I used a black dial and a black day ring. It cost me 96€ (cost of the parts) and I assembled it with my tools. This isn't an homage watch neither a "real Seiko". It's called a Seiko Mod and it's made with the same movement as a Seiko (4R35 for Seiko) -> HN35 for the build (same as 4R35). It's made made by people that Mod watches and this one is based on a AP Royal Oak. It's not sold neither as a original Seiko neither as a homage or a rep of the AP. There can be mods for almost all watches that exists, depends just on what you like and what parts are available in the market. For 500$ you where just straight up robbed. This is just informative. By any means, the video is good, keep up the good work my friend.
Lego 911 is just a lower res version of the real 911. If it's big enough you won't see the difference. What's your point? Nothing is being copied correctly by this fake a** watch.
Personally I feel like the content of channels like this reflects the downturn in the luxury watch market (specifically the secondary market). The channels want to keep growing but are running out of topics so we see even more videos like “great alternatives to Rolex”
made this watch for 85€ the one thing i hate about ordering chinese parts is that they don't mention the word seiko on the dial and photoshop it out of the preview pictures. but for the rest its perfect for a daily driver.
This is 50+% of the AP watch for 3% of the price. For this alone i like it, because it sends a clear message to the big boys in Switzerland, up your game or cut your prices!
I agree but would say closer to 80%. Imagine what they could do with $1000? $1500? I think you’d get close to 98%. The high end Rolex clones (which is a funny concept to say) are insanely close to the real deal these days.
This Seikoak will have +/- 5 min a day and your arm hair and the mineral glass will shave each other in the hope that you do not see the movement out of shame. I despise AP as much as I despise fake watches and fake people who have no dignity.
This kind of mod has been realised in asian market almost 5 years now. There has daytona, oyster, bell & ross seiko also.People just purchased it because it has a look & durability without broke a bank
It's not a Seiko but it says Seiko on the dail. Well.. Of course modding watches is awesome, but don't try to trick people that these are original (either Seiko or AP). That's just not okay.
Alot of people commenting on here do not own a Royal Oak...So you might as well get the mod version. I hate watch snobs who never own the original anyting..
I personally find it to be the smarter purchase. In my opinion there is NO REASON to spend 20k - 100k on a watch. I find the majority of people interested in the actual Royal oak are only interested in it for clout or attention ( generally a younger demographic) At it foundation it's not really about it being an Audemars Piguet it's the design take away the brand name put the Ap silhouette and build on a 2,500-5k watch equally as desired if not more. Granted the upper echelon of society is drawn to the Ap for the status associated with owning one, Seeing how the access to a Audemars Piguet is relatively exclusive and in some cases invite only. My opinion could be tented though, as to your Ferrari comment another thing I would never buy and can afford. This I find is to be a more since able approach seeing how "value" both in concept and understanding is subjective and always has been. Not discrediting anyone that chooses to spend 40k on a watch or more but. To each their own spend the money you earn as you please. :)
I like the Seiko brand but have recently broken two at work where I literally brake rocks. To vaudeville against more movement failure I bought a Casioak G Shock , stands up to punishment better, although I do miss the sweeping hand of an auto movement. There is a place for all watches and if I were to get a dress watch to replace the broken Seiko’s this would be it as my budget will not stretch to the real thing. But if you want to break rocks and keep accurate time with the Royal Oak look get a Casio.
3 of my 4 Seiko watches have failed before the two year mark, and the harshest conditions they’ve ever seen were my desk at Uni or chilling in the subway home. Ridiculous. Workhorse movements my ass, they’re lazy donkeys at best.
@@PocketUau I don't believe you. Have had many Seikos over the years and not a single one has failed. I find it extremely hard to believe that 3 out of 4 of your Seikos failed just like that.
I've got the Maurice lacroix aikon with a grey dial, it's a a really nice watch with a stainless steel bracelet and a silicone rubber strap. It's a No from me. I just dont like fake watches...saying that I'm wearing a Seiko Automatic right now,...but it's a real Seiko..😊
It’s a seiko movement in a AP case. It’s not hiding it’s a seiko on the dial which for me is fine. It’s not there to deceive anyone (or yourself). It’s an iconic design and if it allows you to enjoy it when you haven’t got the several thousands for the original; with a fake it’s about deception and this isn’t the same in my eyes. To be honest I love it
Since the real Royal Oak is probably the most over priced watch ever made I have no problem with people doing this. Imagine the amazing watch collection you could have for just the price of a single AP
Replica mod kits like these powered by the Seiko Instruments NH35 on the dial make me think about Ford GT replica kit cars powered by attainable high-performance 289/302 5.0L Ford Mustang engines. Casuals see a Ford GT from a distance. But nobody in the know would actually be fooled to believe it’s a real Ford GT. Yet there is some pedigree with the engine powering it and the overall cool factor of seeing one on the road, even if you know it’s a kit. No problem with it if you ask me but completely understand that it’s up for massive debate.
I've never got the Royal Oak. But thats just a personal taste thing.I rarely spend more than 500$ on a watch. My thing is buying really cheap but nice watches.( no servicing, just throwing away) Timex Ironman is my day to day go to. I don't worry about wrecking it. Really enjoy your show. I would enjoy it more if you didn't have such a unevenly lit back drop. I like the uncluttered back ground but your lighting is unsettling. Keep up the good work.
Watches are an aspirational buy for me so I’d never long to buy a “cheap” watch that completely copies another. I’d be looking for something unique! But if someone brought this to a watch meet up I’d deff be interested and happy they own it haha 😊
I like Seiko mods and building watches with Seiko movements. I've modified a lot of Seikos, and I've built watches with Seiko movements and everything else aftermarket. It's a fun hobby and they make great gifts for friends. What I never do is actually put a Seiko marked dial on a watch I built from parts. There's a difference between an homage and a fake. Fake Seikos are still fake. If a person doesn't feel right wearing a fake Rolex, they should feel the same way about wearing a fake Seiko. It's a great looking watch that would be better if it had no markings on the dial.
This knockoff mod, excuse me "homage", of a Royal Oak is like a guy putting a poster of his favorite swimsuit model on his wall. Its the closest he is going to get to the real thing, and while he knows its not the real thing, it makes dreaming about the unattainable just slightly easier.
Seen this watch already online and registered last year to be informed when new batches are available. Could never afford a AP and love the look of these but I decided in the meantime I don’t want to wear a fake Seiko, pretending to be an AP but I get some people will.
A mass of manufacturers have tried to "steal" some RO money at all prices so why not a modding company. Not sure how relaxed Seiko will be with this however so if you want one I'd buy now before the lawyers appear.
I’m all for it. I’d take the Seikoak over a PRX any day! But would take a CW Twelve over both. This mod (sold by Seikoak NOT an official Seiko as the video leads you to believe) is for the other 99% that are not in AP’s rarified air.
Id say if your getting an homage, stick to a colour the original has never been just to add a layer of distinction. I'm also torn on whether this is above board enough
Noooo Watchfinder. Don't platform Frankensteins. It isn't a Seiko just because it contains a Seiko movement and has a really suspect aftermarket branding applied on the dial.
To anyone who didn't bother to watch the video: No, it's not even a real Seiko, it's all aftermarket parts including the dial. The only Seiko is the movement.
@@robertposteschild2353 So it s not a Seiko ad And4ew slipped into the middle and amplified in the comments. So how did the company use Seiko's name without getting sued for Trademark violation?
Seiko is correct. The mistake is the APs price. The basic AP should cost 1k usd. We are not far from almost perfect replicas for 1/100th of the original price. With next gen AI and 3d printing, the quartz crisis will be nothing
Not that I have yet bought a mod, I have enquired. But I'm all for them. I love watches, and £500 is around my budget at anytime, unless I'm going for several years with finance package, which is how I managed to purchase a Tudor, and they're not truly expensive now are they?
I just bought a "Seiko" GMT MASTER 2 clone but with purple dial and purple and black bezel. It's a color combo I love and Rolex doesn't offer. It was less than $300. Now I don't ever have to buy a Rolex.
If I understand correctly, not even the dial is genuine Seiko. If that’s the case, this isn’t a Seiko ‘mod’, it’s just illegal use of the Seiko branding. If AP wasn’t able to trademark the case design as stated in the content here, technically there is no violation in that regard. If an individual is going to put these together and sell them, the least they can do is put their own logo on the dial. It’s not hard to get a manufacturer to make you some custom dials with your own branding and it’s a lot cheaper than you might think. Much cheaper to buy them from the manufacturer than a distributor.
I'm against, but only because I hate the pointless slotted hex screws of the original Royal Oak. The hex-shaped head of the screw is locked into a hex-shaped socket and cannot turn, so why put a slot in it?
How is this thing different from a Pagani Design homage or clomage? At least the PD is not faking his way like this one, with the seiko branding, and is a hell of a lot cheaper.
Instead of this watch, I would get a Cadisen homage with meteorite dial. It also looks similar to Royal Oak, has another producer's name on the dial, features sapphire glass and 100 m water resistance and has the very same NH35 movement. But it's not identical to Royal Oak thanks to different dial and costs one fourth of the price.
I'm not a fan of the Royal Oak, so not a fan of this either. It may be considered a classic but it's old and tired, like Rolex bringing out the exact same watch every year with a microscope tweak. I just get the feeling these days that most of these expensive brands are just Daniel Wellington on steroids. Fashion watches with no soul and overpriced.
As a business owner, I challenge competitors to copy what my company does. That type of competition is good for innovation. Ultimately, if something is so easily (or relatively easily) duplicated / copied, the original brand should probably keep innovating and find a way to do better and better. I’m a watch enthusiast, but this watch industry can be so, so silly…

If this is so easily being copied. AP needs to up their game and make their watch not being easily copied.
Lego 911 is just a lower res version of the real 911. If it's big enough you won't see the difference. What's your point? Nothing is being copied correctly by this fake a** watch.
How
Personally I feel like the content of channels like this reflects the downturn in the luxury watch market (specifically the secondary market).
The channels want to keep growing but are running out of topics so we see even more videos like “great alternatives to Rolex”
every video feels the same on this channel
made this watch for 85€ the one thing i hate about ordering chinese parts is that they don't mention the word seiko on the dial and photoshop it out of the preview pictures. but for the rest its perfect for a daily driver.
This feels like an April Fools joke.
I have a "homage" Royal Oak too, even has Audemar Piquet written on it 😂
How do I get one?
It's not a Seiko but it says Seiko on the dail. Well.. Of course modding watches is awesome, but don't try to trick people that these are original (either Seiko or AP). That's just not okay.
It's not a trick, it is well known that these are Seiko MODS
Alot of people commenting on here do not own a Royal Oak...So you might as well get the mod version. I hate watch snobs who never own the original anyting..
I'm for it --- those luxury brands will be forever out of reach; anything that sticks it to their margins is a good thing
Maybe one would get richer if he didn't use phrases like "sticks it to their margins" 🤷

I personally find it to be the smarter purchase. In my opinion there is NO REASON to spend 20k - 100k on a watch.
I find the majority of people interested in the actual Royal oak are only interested in it for clout or attention ( generally a younger demographic)
At it foundation it's not really about it being an Audemars Piguet it's the design take away the brand name put the Ap silhouette and build on a 2,500-5k watch equally as desired if not more.
How big is bracelet/ length ?
Ayo this specific one looks nice I haven’t seen anything else yet, so far so good
Seiko movement? Seiko logo? Even if it's a mod watch that Seiko doesn't make, it's a homage, NOT a fake. You cannot lose here.
I mean where does Seikoak get the case and bracelet? My money is from the same factories in Shenzhen that also produce parts for replicas aka fakes.
Absolutely!
NH35 movement is 30 bucks. Why am I paying 470 for the case?
The case is ~$50, so I guess you're paying $420 for a very very special fake Seiko dial.
All the parts on ali are around 150 usd :-) aaa... And 20 usd worth of tools :-)
My only issue with this is that people are paying $500 for it when with very little research you could build you own for $100 give or take
More water resistant than the Royal Oak...
But why put Seiko on the Dial? Because of the movement?
Because the seller is trying to piggyback off the history, heritage, and brand recognition of Seiko
To be honest I love it
It's not a Seiko though. Seiko didn't make that dial, nor did they receive any of the profit from the sale of that dial.
Since the real Royal Oak is probably the most over priced watch ever made I have no problem with people doing this. Imagine the amazing watch collection you could have for just the price of a single AP
PRX - Yes please
Seikoak - Not for me (unless you own AP)
Fakes - No thanks
This“Seikoak” is a fake.
Oh my dear Lord.
The purple dial is astonishing. Will buy
Thank you for the wonderful video!
Where in the uk can I buy one? There not on the Seiko uk website.
Next watch: San Martin. They deserve a review from you!
It's a Seiko mod. This isn't an OEM watch. Probably should bring that up earlier in the video
I agree, that should have been disclaimed at the start
The AP crowd is becoming as obnoxious as the Hublot crowd. The Royal Oak has jumped the shark.
Where to buy this ?
I'm so confused. It's not an ap it's not a seiko but it looks like both? Who makes this? And if it's not seiko how do they have their movement in it?
Audemars Piguet trying to claim the hexagon shape as their own is so funny :))) What's next, the circle?
Where to get one?
A mass of manufacturers have tried to "steal" some RO money at all prices so why not a modding company. Not sure how relaxed Seiko will be with this however so if you want one I'd buy now before the lawyers appear.
What's funnier than a Watch Snob in general? A Watch Snob that's so ignorant they assume Seiko is manufacturing this watch.
Over 30 in this comment section so far lmao
I’m all for it. I’d take the Seikoak over a PRX any day! But would take a CW Twelve over both. This mod (sold by Seikoak NOT an official Seiko as the video leads you to believe) is for the other 99% that are not in AP’s rarified air.
I am against fake watches….but a mod is different I think….
Fake. The Seiko logo is counterfeit. And the AP clone is straight from a replica factory
Looks like a good watch . Tells the time.
Honestly a $20 casio can do that ;)
Since the Royal Oak does absolutely nothing for me, then the feiko doesn't either.
Nice Seiko, the series should be called Feiko
Id say if your getting an homage, stick to a colour the original has never been just to add a layer of distinction. I'm also torn on whether this is above board enough
Noooo Watchfinder. Don't platform Frankensteins. It isn't a Seiko just because it contains a Seiko movement and has a really suspect aftermarket branding applied on the dial.
To anyone who didn't bother to watch the video:
No, it's not even a real Seiko, it's all aftermarket parts including the dial. The only Seiko is the movement.
...... duh.
@ViolentReactorso many people didn’t watch the video based on the comments 😂
@@ajmarionI have counted over 30 who clearly didn’t watch it before writing a comment.
Haha this comment section really does prove people don’t bother watching videos before typing their feelings and outrage.
Feiko. Ah shit, he said it why I was typing.
This model is called the Royal Broke.
The real question is if Seiko is making an homage to the AP Royal Oak, OR copying the Tissot PRX?
This is not a Seiko watch
The real question is, did you even watch the video?
@@robertposteschild2353 So it s not a Seiko ad And4ew slipped into the middle and amplified in the comments. So how did the company use Seiko's name without getting sued for Trademark violation?
What's this color called?
So the AP logo and the lettering are all that the wearers of this watch can do without?
Seiko is correct. The mistake is the APs price. The basic AP should cost 1k usd. We are not far from almost perfect replicas for 1/100th of the original price. With next gen AI and 3d printing, the quartz crisis will be nothing
Since I won’t spend over $500 fora watch I totally support what Seiko is doing.
Seiko isn't doing this, it's a mod..
"Is that an AP?"
Nope!
"Is that a Seiko?"
Well not really...
Yeah I'm not having that conversation.
I have no problem with modified Seikos but when I mod something I want it to be customized specifically for me and no one else having it
I got the same movement in my oyster prepetual "inspired" seiko for £260. But this is a full-blown fakeo. Never go full-blown fakeo
im waiting for the san martin version. a homage built with quality unlike seiko
why didn't they just make the logo say "seikoak" in the style and font of a seiko logo?
This hurt my eyes
If I understand correctly, not even the dial is genuine Seiko. If that’s the case, this isn’t a Seiko ‘mod’, it’s just illegal use of the Seiko branding. If AP wasn’t able to trademark the case design as stated in the content here, technically there is no violation in that regard. If an individual is going to put these together and sell them, the least they can do is put their own logo on the dial. It’s not hard to get a manufacturer to make you some custom dials with your own branding and it’s a lot cheaper than you might think. Much cheaper to buy them from the manufacturer than a distributor.
Trademark infringement is an easy line to draw and this crosses it. Seiko should be going after whoever makes these.
So we now have a budget version of the budget version ( ML Aikon)
As a business owner, I challenge competitors to copy what my company does. That type of competition is good for innovation. Ultimately, if something is so easily (or relatively easily) duplicated / copied, the original brand should probably keep innovating and find a way to do better and better. I’m a watch enthusiast, but this watch industry can be so, so silly…
The Tissot PRX has sort of the same effect.
