As a now 57 year old man, the Seattle Music Scene meant everything to me personally. My peer group of musicians, my genre of music, this was my Musical Camelot. Chris, Layne, Andy, Shannon, Kurt, Mark, the list is too vast to write everyones name here. They were like Dark Angels roaming the planet.... greatly missed by so many, especially this 57 year old man. God Loves Grunge
“Burden In My Hand” & “ Slaves & Bulldozers” are powerhouse performances by Chris. Also everything on His first solo album “Euphoria Morning “ are amazing.
Love your reaction. Yes, Amber, the lyrics are really powerful, and J, most people can connect with those emotions, at least to some degree. The darkness of the music and the lyrics really support each other.
One of the best bands of the 90's. A crazy voice, bad ass sounds and writing is incredible. Keep em coming. Chris wrote this song about his severe case of depression when he was a teenager and how he spent almost a year without leaving the house playing guitar and drums. Chris was clearly tormented his entire life by depression. We were fortunate to have gotten his incredible gift of song from his pain. RIP Chris!
Zero Chance, Mailman, My Wave, Limo Wreck, Outshined, Room A Thousand Years Wide, Drawing Flies, Tighter and Tighter, Slaves and Bulldozers, Jesus Christ Pose, 4th Of July, Spoonman, and Just Like Suicide are just some amazing songs by SoundGarden ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@richardhenderson9767almost all of their songs are great, only ones I can think of that aren't are from the start or end of the band's life funnily enough
Limo Wreck next please. If you need a tutorial on what the down tune sound of grunge is this song really showcases it. Also I think most know Chris as a lead vocalist but as seen here very handy with the guitar and I believe had assembled a nice guitar collection.
RIP Chris Cornell 💔 He was one of the most beautiful human beings, inside and out, such a profound lyricist, and quite possibly the best singer of the rock era. I remember hearing or reading an interview where Chris was talking about finding out how phenomenal a voice he had, and he said something about just screaming so far outside of his (at the time) range and "finding" a note out there... I don't remember what Audioslave songs you've done, but I Am the Highway, Show Me How to Live, and Cochise are definitely on the list! You guys should really check out Chris's cover of Billy Jean-- it's amazing! Ok, so now I was just looking over what grunge songs you've reacted to-- is it true that you've never reacted to Pearl Jam's Black?!?!?!?!? One of my all time favorite songs!!
Through my darkest and toughest times in the early 90's.. I experienced the loss of my two closest friends who took their lives both the same way . I fell on black days and this song helped me from joining them. Then for Chris and Chester leaving it hurt and still hurts so bad! This song will never not go with me! Thank you Chris SoundGarden and Squad for playing my list and more. Please remember the mental illnesses everyone suffers or goes through. No matter the circumstance or how different we all feel....... someone else has fell on this day! Listen and Help them! RIP Cornell! Rock On 🤘 Always! Thanks again You two!❤
6:11 You hit the nail on the head. Grunge is all about emotion. Grunge was a rejection of Eighties hair metal - music that glorified the “rock star life style.” Grunge was painful and gritty. It shined the light onto the perfect imperfections of the world and of life. It is the best genre of music ever made. What is my evidence? Every genre of music since grunge faded away has tried to recreate and recapture what made/makes grunge great.
Other Soundgarden songs you should definitely check out are, "Slaves & Bulldozers" (My personal favorite song of theirs), "Jesus Christ Pose", "Rusty Cage", "Pretty Noose", "Blow Up The Outside World" & "Spoonman" just to name a few.
Love chris cornell ❤ So many songs for you to enjoy Audioslave Temple of the dog Soundgarden Solo stuff All him all good!! Please please please do more
This is handsdown the best Soundgarden song ever in my opinion Edit: y'all need to chill, I was just trying to state my opinion, you don't to get pissed off at it
I would go with “room a thousand years wide” but this is also a great choice. This song was playing as my grandmother died… I was 22. Damn how a song can make you feel it again.
Hey, you guys. For your next Soundgarden song, I cannot recommend enough "Burden In My Hand". A great, great song with a total and complete top performance by the band. And not only is "Fell On Black Days" a great song, but it's also a great performance here because the band is doing it live. You can feel how much they are putting into their performance even though it's for a video. Chris Cornell puts so much emotion into his vocals. He was truly one of Rock's great voices.
Yes, matt cameron deserves a lot of love. If you pay attention to his drumming you will see that he add so much to the songs with little tasty fills and flourishes bit it's always to serve the song.
There's so much early-mid 90s music to explore. You still have so much Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, etc to check out, but I think you've only done one Rage Against the Machine song, and they also have an extensive catalog. Then that leads into artists like Beck, who I don't think you've reacted to at all, and that led into the early 2000s with bands like the White Stripes. The 90s/early 2000s was a diverse and wonderful time in so many ways. Lots of changes taking place in the world and the music seemed to evolve daily.
Been awhile I've been working my tail off and finally got construction project finished but I must admit I've missed all the beautiful music you bring to the table keep up the outstanding work👍
For a future Female Friday, you should remember that Norah Jones did a version of Black Hole Sun live in Detroit, just four days after Chris' death. It's a hauntingly beautiful version of an already-cool song.
Best demonstration ever of Chris's vocal ability is a song called "say hello to heaven" by Temple of the Dog, which was a tribute band that Chris put together with Eddie Vedder and himself on vocals. Chris could smoothly span four full octaves. That is really amazing in itself. His music touched so many people at the deepest place that could ever be reached inside of them that it could really be called supernatural. Say Hello to Heaven. Bet you can't listen to it without your eyes watering up. It will get right in your soul.
Chris was just an excellent rock singer whose voice had a ton of range and power. He could belt to shake the ground, and throw in enough grit for soaring screams. “Slaves And Bulldozers” is possibly his most explosive vocal performance, even in a career full of them.
I was lucky to see Chris Cornell perform with Temple of the Dog in San Francisco just a few months before he died. It was one of those performances that will always stick with me. A tremendous talent that was made transcendent by the pure honesty that came through with his lyrics
Ohh thats so amazing! I was to ready to fly from Australia to go to that, but alas I couldnt make it. Luckily i got to see SG and then CC tour solo here.. but to see TOTD.. 🖤
I got to see him in 1995 here in England at Reading Festival, travelled down to the festival and remember watching him on the main stage with the sun going down, i will never forget it one of my all time fave bands! I'm still a Grunger!!
Chris Cornell's voice gives me chills. No one sings like him anymore. I love this great band line up Chris Cornell vocals, guitar Kim Thayil, lead guitar Ben Shepherd, Bass Matt Cameron drums, also drummer for Pearl Jam
One of my favorite artists. I was lucky enough to see him twice before. His last concert in my town occurred just days before his passing. I wanted to go but didn’t buy tickets because it was just a few days after my due date. I planned on going if I weren’t in labor to ‘help induce labor’ but guess who went into labor a few hours before his concert? I never have regretted not going more. No suggestions honestly, everything he’s done is beautifully done. I will say I’d love to see some Tool, Silverchair, Sevendust or Breaking Benjamin. They are all a bit different but very nostalgic for this 90s kid
My favourite singer ever. My favourite band ever. And maybe my fave SG song ever.. I actually wrote into MTV, headbangers ball in the 90s to lady V here in the UK, to play this video.. And a few weeks later...I was made...🤟😎🤟
This is def a different, earlier, demo-like version than I'm used to. He really hits those notes more in the real version. Imagine this, but remastered & well produced. I've never even seen this video, that's cool.
This sounds just slightly different than the original album version. It's very close, but like maybe it is remastered or live... Anyways, really glad you got to this I love Chris, he's my favorite grunge era singer. I have every album he ever sang on, be it his solo stuff, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave, or as a guest on other records. ANY song you do w/him is gonna be great, I'm sure many will have suggestions. I want to advocate for bands you've never done yet like The Darkness, you need to hear their Last of Our Kind or Love is Only A Feeling.
Great song, great band! The album Superunknown was a critical and commercial success and became the band's breakthrough album. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, selling 310,000 copies in its opening week. The album was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 1995. ✌️
This is the perfect way to start a Monday. Back in 94 and 95 I played Superunknown daily. That record along with a couple of others kept me sane during my Senior year of High School.
Some more suggestions for 90s rock - Queens of the stone age - no one knows, my god is the sun, the way you used to do, the evil has landed, little sister; Everclear - wonderful, I will buy you a new life, am radio, father of mine; Garbage - stupid girl, only happy when it rains, queer, I think I’m paranoid, #1 crush, push it, special
EVERY song on Chris Cornell's band Audio Slave ....after he went out on his own from Sound Garden is an absolute MUST hear album. It absolutely ROCKS out to the nth degree....it's still my favorite music Chris Cornell ever sang. Incredible album. Check it out sometime guys. It R-O-C-K-S. You will hear Chris's emotions at their greatest height on the first Audio Slave album. ..(they only did two albums). He had many great hits off of that album as well. "Show Me How to Live", "Like A Stone", "I Am the Highway", "Gasoline", "Set It Off". To me this album is loaded with the VERY best of Chris Cornell's beautiful voice and every emotion. When you get to the track "The Last Remaining Light" put on headphones or play it on a nice quality sound system and crank.... it... up. . and close your eyes and listen to the song because it will take you to a whole other level. Excellent song to just chill out to. So enjoy!! 😊 I had the pleasure of seeing Sound Garden....Pearl Jam....Red Hot Chili Peppers.... Jane's Addiction.....Ministry....and so many more at Lollapalooza in the early 90's when they were all at their height with their greatest songs. One of THE best Lollapalooza shows ever done in its history. Lollapalooza shows were epic!! Chris Cornell was one of the best and his voice was silenced far too soon. I'm glad he left us such great music to remember him by. No matter what music i listen to when i put on my headphones.... My mantra is.... 🎶 Music On....World Off 🎶 💯
Chris Cornell also had a good solo career after Soundgarden. The solo song "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart'' is a good one to get a taste of his solo stuff.
Ironically, it was the night of the 18th of May 2017 when the great Chris Cornell fell on his own black day……..RIP Chris Cornell and thank you for sharing your great gift with us!
I looked through your Audioslave playlist and couldn't see that you've done "Cochise" yet. I know on Sundays you like having a "hype" song...my friend, that will do it! It's so hard hitting and I think you'd both love it.
Soundgardens "Burden in my Hand" is another great song to hear one of Chris's great vocal performances. Also, check out one of Chris's solo performances "When I'm Down" live at the Troubadour, you won't be disappointed.
this speaks to me on so many levels- RIP Chris Cornell you were an exceptional talent....
Love and miss Chris Cornel
And one of the greatest voices to ever grace rock and roll
The one voice of my youth that I think about all the time. Chris Cornell was my favorite voice as a young adult

You guys definitely need to check out some more Soundgarden! I'd recommend The Day I Tried To Live from them next.
J would love that one, since he loves Bass guitar. That Bass line is sick.
The Day I Tried To Live is epic. That, This, and Black Hole Sun have been my top 3 from this album since 6th grade. Hasn't changed.
The Day I Tried To Live is my fave Soundgarden song.
That and Limo Wreck are my two favorite songs by them,
Burden in My Hand or Blow Up the Outside World and of course Outshined!!
“Burden In My Hand” & “ Slaves & Bulldozers” are powerhouse performances by Chris.
Also everything on His first solo album “Euphoria Morning “ are amazing.
Yes, those two are some of my favorites from Soundgarden. Also "Blow Up The Outside World."
Euphoria Mourning is one of the most underrated albums ever
"Can't Change Me", "Flutter Girl", "Steel Rain", "Wave Goodbye" every song is killer from that album!

Next songs could be Black Rain or Spoonman. And you should check out Chris Cornell singing his cover of Billie Jean. It is amazing!
"Don't you lock up something that you wanted to see fly." That just hit me really hard.

I looked through your Audioslave playlist and couldn't see that you've done "Cochise" yet. I know on Sundays you like having a "hype" song...my friend, that will do it! It's so hard hitting and I think you'd both love it.
Nice choice my favorite Soundgarden song
Soundgardens "Burden in my Hand" is another great song to hear one of Chris's great vocal performances. Also, check out one of Chris's solo performances "When I'm Down" live at the Troubadour, you won't be disappointed.
My favorite Soundgarden song. Watch out if I'm in the car and it comes on.
I love when you react to soundgarden. Love from Brazil.
