I generally find little and often is best. Increase it as the action increases. You’ll still be surprised how much you get through. In this video I got through nearly 6 pints of maggots and casters on quite a short session!
Nice mate. Was hard to describe this way of fishing on the LIVE. Best to watch it. Spodding maggots and casters over the rigs made all the difference. Give it a try and let me know how you get on! 👍👍 Maybe check out the other tench vids and subscribe to the channel of course! 😂👍
Tench, my favourite species. Yet another great vid mate 👍 You'd be surprised how many tench I've had when spodding over their heads. The are attracted by sound.
@@Lifeonthebank yes, if they are preoccupied by food you can literally walk amongst them. A water I used to bailiff had loads of tench. When we were thinning out excess reeds, we'd have tench bumping us as the water clouded up. We could cast a bait in after and still catch. That's why raking is so effective, tench are the first to respond to noise.
Great video again, love watching them, I like how honest he is, he's been there a few times not done great, learned from them and unlocked just the right way to fish there step by step how he was thinking aswel, also "Thanks for choosing to watch this video and like and subscribe and all that" obviously doesn't like to shove it down your throat but a little nudge is ok 👌
Interesting approach to spodding I have always thought of spodding as activity that spooks fish, clearly not. I like the little an often approach as well, I never do that great tip. Helicopter worm kebab rigs are killer for tench I discovered them from the other Korum tench vids from some welsh bloke ha ha keep em rollin.
Nice one mate. Yeah, I’ve had loads of sessions where the spod actually brings on a bite, ringing the classic dinner bell! Thanks for checking out the video 👍👍👍

Yeah, still trying to get a feel for how many are actually present. They certainly don’t come out all the time but heard a rumour that one came out the other day. 🤞
@@Lifeonthebank You certainly seem to be finding the good fish! My favourite tench water is 180 miles away, but absolutely making the drive there this summer!
High Nick, boy did you have a good time or what, some absalute beauties to say the least, one thing I have noticed is, the tench of today seem to be a whole lot darker in colour than i remember them from back in the day, I remember them being a very vivid green colouration ?? The last one was a real stonker 😊. These vids are now 3 years old ?? Have you listed them before ?? Or have you been sitting them for a while ?? Great stuff mate. Cheers Les.
A very, very good point. My suggestion is to try it. If you’re plagued by nuisance fish then come off the worms and onto corn, pellets or small boilies. Worms are great for Tench in early spring before the nuisance fish wake up but then you’re forced to switch as things warm up. I hope that helps 👍👍👍
Hiya nick hows it goin. Lovely catches mate iv been on abit of a drought lately had quite afew blanks now but ill keep pluging away. i tell ya what though this rain is driving me mad atm.

I will often just use a bear lead to get a feel for ‘the drop’. This will give me an idea of depth and the type of lake bed I’m dealing with (silt, weed etc). Hope that helps 👍
If you think about it the baited rod will swing in towards you as it falls through the water (once it hits the clip). Of course the spod doesn’t fall through the water at all. Make sense? Becomes more of an issue if the water is deep. I wouldn’t worry about this if the water is less than 5ft. Hope that explains it 👍

@@Lifeonthebank yes, I’m expecting things to improve once this winter weather has gone! In the meantime I’m going to just walk around with the perch lures and keep an eye open for activity. Do you use popped up maggots on your heli rigs at all?
Yes I do. Shorter hooklength, maybe just 3 inch. A piece of red foam (maggot shaped) and 3 real maggots. Can work really well on some days when worms not getting bites.
Great Vid. A quick question regarding your heli rig, I noticed you have you rods quite high off the ground, do you worry that the angle of the line will be lifting the bait off the deck? I use the same rig and always have the tips under the water or back leads to make sure everything is pinned down.
