Brass switches are special because by using a,d (or lack thereof) and pressing space, you can set them remotely from a train.
Additionally, a scroll option on the brass switch allows you to configure if automatic (scheduled) trains can set the brass switch.
As long as a spy conductor is chunkloaded, you can spy through it - and it will load chunks around it if you are looking through its eyes.

You can still switch the tracks with the train-levers by firstly pressing the direction and then pressing space. Love your vids.
This is also what sets apart brass switches from andesite ones. You can change what trains are allowed to automatically pull switches using the icon on a brass switch

You are right
The vent blocks can also be right clicked with a block so that they look like that block. This means you can make a wall of normal blocks with a vent trail hidden behind it, so people wouldn't know it's there or be able to get through unless they are controlling a conductor.
You could make an INSANE puzzle map this way I just realized.

@Shalz oh, be sure to try out the suspicious caps sometime as well. Renaming a cap to start with [sus] will let you take on a new form and open up a plethora of possibilities, especially in terms of messing with friends. They also work with the custom skins, for example you could have your cap named to [sus]SpottyTheTurtle

The track switchers can be toggled with projectiles btw (arrow, snowball, egg, etc). ALSO A VERY COOL THING IS name a conductor hat to [sus] and put it on yourself

For that train factory idea you could automatically place blaze burner as part of the train and give it a train schedule by just transporting it into the train station block (it's explained a bit better if you ponder the station block or the schedule not sure which one). You could also automatically assemble it by using wrench with a deployer which is part of this mod.
what about glue? a factory with any kind good of trains per minute would need deployers not schematicannons, i don't think that they can use glue?

Loved the video @Shalz! Can't wait for the next video man! You should Totally add the Steam and Rails Add-on to the Survival Series man! With the New Ability to choose Boogies and the Create No Limits Add-on, you can Make Massive Trains with Steam Locomotives like the Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 Tender Engine or even Behemoths like the British Railways BR 2-10-0 Standard. If you'd like, I can Get the Specs for the Stanier Class 5's for you and Convert them into Metric/Blocks so you can Build it in Minecraft.
Don't forget about the Super Kiln that I mentioned in Episode 4 of the Survival Series man!

You can make a mini game where you're on a train, and you have to shoot a target to trigger the track switch and go the right way
Another thing you can do is with the Redstone link you can me a completely automated material transport system

The phantom train tracks act like barriers! If you hold it in your hand, it will show the phantom tracks but if you don't, the phantom tracks will be Invisible! Hold Shift while hovering the phantom train tracks to see if it shows the info or if not, try updating the version of the mod to "Steam 'n Rails 1.4.3 Forge 1.19.2"

Please remember that you can put slabs on the train tracks and you said that you were going to to it in your survival series!!!
PLEASE make a build battle with your friend, but you make the among us map and have the little guy as the imposter, to where the player(crew mate) has to find out the imposter like normal, but the player(imposter) can go hide somewhere and then control the robot to go vent and kill things for you!

Man i can make so many puzzles with this. Also can a remote controlled conductor place blocks, because if so then that is a game changer. Still like the idea of it having its own teleporter block so you could have a hidden room only they could access
