I recently found out i have deterioration in my SI joint and i can’t wait to try these out tomorrow at the gym! Also, my mom got an injury in her hip during covid shutdowns. Shes had to use a cane ever since due to atrophy. She will be doing these with me in hopes she can get strong enough to kick the cane for good.
Alex and Liz demonstrations are really clear. What's not so clear is the board with their internet addresses for people like me who are watching from our mobile phones. Make the signs a little wider and use darker ink for better readability.
To engage the glute med for side laying you need to have the top leg slightly behind the bottom leg and not so high. If you put your hand on your Gluth medius you will feel it engage better.
That was great! I love how well you explain placement, position etc. I'm going to share this with my 76 year old mom who has some minor balance issues. She's begun a fitness class and this will definitely help
Its helped me a lot. I have piriformis syndrome and when i do stretches the pain rise. And i thought that i need to make shorter my gluteus medius and it helped me.
Thank you so much for focusing on the hips! I have arthritic hips, where the left is worse than the right and really need to work them since I also sit at a desk all day at work. Doing the third exercise with the step - it's hard to keep my standing leg locked, but I know it is a beneficial rehab exercise. Thanks B&B!
Great video, I just did this and man could I feel those muscles working, you guys should do a video of an exercises routine for people to do explaining as you go, and then do a video with just the exercises and no talking for people to use that would be great.
Cool happy to help, I was thinking today it could be a series of videos like this one 10 minutes explaining legs, then 10 minutes explaining stomach then arms , back etc whatever you think is best then put them all together in one workout video. I know I'd use it😁
I was wondering what the glute medius was for exactly but didn't find out until towards the end. C'mon guys! Otherwise, I'm going to do these for sure!👍
What weight was the band at the end? My local store only had a 10 lb. and that was too much, are 5's available? Guess I have to go online. Is there a weight you'd recommend for a 69 yr. old, have had 2 surgeries on one hip, still doing my strengthening exercises. Love you guys and watch and practice along with you a lot. Thanks so very much!
hello bob and brad can you do a video on what sleeping position is good if you have nocturia (peeing like 2 tbsp for like 5 mins). I had it checked and did some test and ultrasound but didnt find anything. I followed everything stopped drinking always at 3 pm and sleep at 10:230 or 12am. My problem is finding a perfect sleeping position to help me quite hold it for a few hours to help me not to get up every 5 mins thank you
In the last couple years iv been having keeping my pants from slightly saging, even with a belt. Iv mentioned the above because im thinking these exercises will help with that?
Extra day for weaker side i guess. Coz what i understand is theres high rep low rep excercise,, so increasing rep just creating different. Just my theory/thoughs, Bitcoin, hehe
Love you guys and think your videos are the best. I don't like when you bring in other people to do the exercises as I subscribe to the podcast because I enjoy watching both of you. Also, you perpetuate the idea that exercise is not for "old" people.
Also Liz & Alex not the best demonstrators, needed corrected forms. Alex floppy, need to engage core & glutes on first 2 exercises, and need to stack hips instead of relaxing hip roll to back. They showed better form on last 2 exercises, ironicallyi considered harder.

Best video of this subject. Zero waste.
I need that blanket 🤗 You guys are hilarious but very helpful with these videos. I’ve learned so much from you both.
Alex and Liz demonstrations are really clear.

Lisa Kulp agree. They need to just edit it onto their videos instead of holding a sign.
Great idea. Thank you Lisa :)

Thanks for the exercises
Thank you for suggesting side walking with the cable/resistance, and the difference is remarkable. 🙂

Good for you for thinking of your mom in this way! We hope it helps :)
Great video! Really effective exercises. Needed this reminder!
Thanks! Glad we could help!
This set of exercises are really easy to remember and do at home.
That was the goal :)

You are welcome Jenn :)
Thank you for the video guys. This has really helped the IT band issues I had from running. Great demonstrations too, very clear and good fun!
Please do this for shoulders. I need five safe exercises for building shoulder strength that won't cause injury.
That is a good suggestion. thank you!
Thank u

Aww. These guys are s sweet!
Great exercises! Thanks so much!
Alex this is a family show!
9:04 "crab people" seems like a better name for this exercise. Thanks for the upload.
You are welcome Christoper! :)
I was wondering what the glute medius was for exactly but didn't find out until towards the end. C'mon guys! Otherwise, I'm going to do these for sure!👍
Sorry about that! We'll try to be clearer in the future!
@@BobandBrad Thanks Bob & Brad!😘
Great exercises especially for ppl who have multiple sclerosis (be safe). Seriously great channel for MS patients.
Thanks Peter!
I'm one of those 3 people 😁🤓
Love you guys you bet cha!
Oh dontcha know :)
I do the 4th one leaning against a yoga ball that rolls against a wall. Good stuff!
Glad to hear that! :)

Awesome info and their nutty Dr's 😂😂😂
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ gotta be a little Nutty :)

Guys you are awesome..
Thank you so much Pankaj!
Are any of these exercises besides the clamshell good for hip bursitis?
4:38 I'm one of "those 3 people out there" 😂 thanks! 👍
I do No 4 exercise 6 times a week.
great info. where do you get those blankies
During first excercise, besides medius gluteus, i feel a lot of burn on the sides of my calves too.... M i doing something wrong?
Love it
Good :)
In the last couple years iv been having keeping my pants from slightly saging, even with a belt.

My right glute med is weaker than my left. Should I simply do more reps on that side to compensate?
Extra day for weaker side i guess.
Coz what i understand is theres high rep low rep excercise,, so increasing rep just creating different. Just my theory/thoughs,
Bitcoin, hehe
I have same problem, left stronger glute. My PT said to do both sides equally. To progress on the clamshell, increase to 3 sets of 15 reps.
Love you guys and think your videos are the best. I don't like when you bring in other people to do the exercises as I subscribe to the podcast because I enjoy watching both of you. Also, you perpetuate the idea that exercise is not for "old" people.
Sorry, not our intention. Thank you for the feedback.

This Exercises called Big booty judy back in high school
Don't you have to stretch your leg slightly backwards so you don't work on your tensor facia lata but you do exercise your glut media?
Will that help with sciatica
They are both externally in side leg raises rotating not hitting proper muscles ( ok you fixed it )
Great to hear it got fixed!
What is '3 sets of 10'?
10 repetitions, rest a few minutes then repeat 2 more times.
@@BobandBrad Thank you doctors. I follow your videos regularly.
can this help with a glute med tear?
Love you guys
Thank you Candice :)
I usually lose my form while doing the vertical abduction😫
it's a tough one!
Love those accents
Some say that a Midwestern accent is more romantic than a french one ;)
Bummer to see the Vikings helmet covered up with the advertisement.
I need some bands !;)
Here are the ones used in this video! Hope it helps! ;)

Who is funnier Bob or Brad? 🤔😄
in the end you get Bob AND Brad :)
I think both are equally: knowledgeable, funny and adorable😍
That thumbnail...why Bob?!
"Nice to meet you big booty, Judy I am All about that life." - Alex
That into tho...
First lol
Nyc team 😂😂😂
Liz is rotating out with that first exercise! That won't work the right muscle.
I like this woman's body
Larry King she doesn’t care if you do or don’t.
No, I like it.
