    Hi there , thanks so much for showing the technique . My questions are do you find it easier to tap with your non dominant hand and move the tools more smoothly with your dominant hand and for someone who has joint problems is there a technique that works best ? I just got my first kit and I just had the hardest time controlling the tool with my joint issues . Thanks again .

    • @cheaneysaddles
      @cheaneysaddles  7 лет назад

      I tap with mu dominant hand right hand and move the tool with the left hand. The more you practice the better you will get at tooling leather.

      I know this is a late reply, but I hope you've followed through on this. My father has done leathercrafting as a hobby since before I was born. He made me my first pair of moccasins and definitely passed down the love of the craft. I have only done small projects, but the knowledge and skills passed down to me are priceless and I will always have those fond memories with him.

    • @cheaneysaddles
      @cheaneysaddles  7 лет назад +1

      Jeremy, That weight is about fifty years old it was my Dad's. I just recently found out where it came from. The weight is made from Babbit and you can get them at Oilfield supply houses they are really used fro something else but work great for holding down leather pieces while being tooled. You will have to cover the bottom with soft cowhide and you will be good to go. Thanks for asking. Bruce

    It would be nice if you would show the details that you are talking about. I looked at the B802 and B803 at Tandy today and found that they have a pattern embossed on the end. When you showed the ends of the tools I couldn't see anything on the ends and when you move the tool it appears that you are sliding it. The bevel is not shown close enough to see if it has a pattern. I would really like to get something out of your videos, but I'm tired of watching you move the bevel tool tapping with your mallet. How about some information. I have posted on your videos before, but when I try to come back I can't find the video where I posted to see if you have responded. I'll bookmark this one so that I can find it later. The last post that you did was 2 months ago.
