I read that when George Washington, our first president died, he left instructions to have his body lay in rest in the parlor of his home for three days before burial. Just to make sure that he was very much dead, before burial.

Couldn't it be just a simple chain hoist to lower the coffins down into the crypt? We see the hook on the end, and an eye on the top of the coffin. So how could she pull the chain if it didn't go through the top of the coffin? Just pondering.

I keep looking and asking my self, "is the debris or are those bones?" Looks like one of the coffins was open just a little bit and bones got scattered. Back in those days, people had to contend with body snatchers, grave robbers (ancient and modern), waking up after everyone thought you were dead, and wild animals digging you up.

@@GraveVisitationsI think the OP is referring to the mausoleums that seem similar in shape. These were usually sold as a "unit" to an individual or family. The purchaser could customize their resting place accordingly.
However, a lot of families made changes to only the interiors while mostly retaining the exterior except for adding their name or family crest/signia. This was partly due to graveyard design stipulations as this estate was very expensive and they had to sell units to individuals of similar social standing.
OP, while these places may look similar they are very valuable real estate. They have also stood the test of time if you see the dates on there. They are a piece of (architectural) history, a revered site for families to pay respects to their ancestors and a reminder for us mortals - memento mori. Graveyards are interesting for their energetic imprint as well.
