@@GraveVisitations Is it flooding because of the housing they built up around it ? They made the house higher and it drain towards the grave yard? If that is the case that is very sad!
As I watched I did notice the building, apartments are built up higher, so it’s going to push the water into the cemetery because it’s lower. That is very sad that the town council let this happen and didn’t figure out better drainage for them building next to the cemetery 😢
Vandeleur arrived at the gates of Heaven. He saw people, in ragged clothing, marching in line inside. Saint Peter told him he had come to the wrong place. Van was angry and asked why he couldn't enter "like the peasants". St Peter responded "these were the lovely people you evicted from their homes. I'd suggest you take that downhill road over there. It's a long hill but your place has been reserved".
What a very sad sight to see all those flooded graves. As for the opulent mausoleum, its the eternal case of those who have and those that do not, sad but still very true. Thank you guys.
Hi GV. I'm surprised no one vandalized his burial place. What a nasty man. I'm from Northumberland in England. I'm on the east coast. Loving you and Sue's videos. Keep them coming.
Another nice and respectful walk GV. I have just read about the landowners of Ireland during the famine. It's really sad what they did. Can't wait for the next video. Have a great weekend.
How old are the oldest ones in the graveyard? I love the Emerald Isle! Many of my ancestors came from Ireland and I can’t wait to visit again. I agree with your motto and I try to live my life like that! I have been known to give to people I have known, even when I couldn’t really afford it. A couple of my ancestors (Burke and Price) came over when the famine broke out! They could, luckily afford it when they sold most of their possessions and pooled their resources. I have volunteered in soup kitchens and given what I could to help others. I don’t use these gifts as tax credits and I often donate things/ resources anonymously. Not for my glory, but for His glory and my appreciation for all that I have been blessed with and given in my life. Blessings to you both and your channels are some of my very favorites on RUclips! Thanks for all you guys do!!
Hi lora the oldest would be early 1700s I'd imagine. It's great to give back when we can for sure. Thank you for watching us both and I'm glad you like the videos x

Hi GV ❤ great video sad to see some of the graves and the tombs full of water 💧 it happened here in Sydney too last year when we had all the floods such a shame some of those small crypts looked like the doors were freshly painted and named . loved the church and the bell too x all our love from Downunder ❤
Hello from Nevada USA! I have just recently subscribed to both your channel and Serenity Sue. You both do great work! These old graveyards are very interesting to see. Many people here in America have ancestors from Ireland, so Americans tend to have a special place in their hearts for anything Irish. I like that you both are brave enough to peek into the old crypts, I think many people are curious about what's inside. I find it ironic that Vandeleur had that huge mausoleum built for himself and his family, but now it remains half empty still. This watery old cemetery reminds me of New Orleans, Louisiana. There people can't be buried in the ground, because the water table is so high that the caskets would just come back up to the surface. So the cemeteries there are full of old crypts and mausoleums. They are so full that it is customary that after a long time is passed, a deceased person's remains will be taken out of what is left of their coffin, the bones are moved to the back of the vault, and the old coffin disposed of, so that space can be made for new dead people. I love your videos and those of Serenity Sue! Keep up the great work! 🧡🤍💚☘
Hi Ginny thank you for watching and subscribing to us both ❤️🙏 yes it is great for viewers in America and elsewhere who might want to locate ancestors etc. 🇮🇪
Also referred to as "The Port City”, Saint John New Brunswick Canada became a leading industrial centre in the nineteenth century, mostly due to a robust shipbuilding trade. The city quickly grew, with the largest influx of immigrants occurring during the Irish famine of the 1840s, adding "Canada’s most Irish City” to its list of names.
Hello from Western Australia. Thanks for another interesting video. It's sad to see the state of these graves. As you said, it would be nice if businesses helped to restore it.
Poor drainage is probably responsible for most of the monuments decay, what with the freeze and thaw cycles. Nice tour of the graveyard. Too bad it's in such a state though. Take care. 😊👍
Another amazing find GV such a shame its been allowed to decay hopefully your video will alert people who live in the area to try to do something about it
Thank you so much for sharing this video about those interesting gravesites that you're showing. I really enjoyed seeing the outside at the beautiful church and the grounds around that beautiful Cemetery, it is a shame about all the water problem apparently in my personal view it sounds like they never contemplated having any drainage for the cemetery. Thanks again for sharing and always enjoy your videos.
I am just so curious. Is the Church responsible?, the County?, the individual families ( if still around)?, Irish organizations?...for repairing the ground property that is so damaged? These are precious memories that should be preserved. ❤
Hi there guys from the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand. (Aotearoa). Always enjoy your videos visiting the old graveyards of Ireland. Keep them coming. :-)
Five years ago there was the same problem floods and creeping up coffins, or nearly surfacing in a small Antwerp cemetery... Great video. Tom, Belgium.
Mr. Vandeleur reminds me of George Pullman of Chgo. Invented the Pullman train car. Built a factory and industrial town for the employees to live in. At first it seemed like a good idea to the employees. But Pullman charged as much for rent as the wages the employees brought home. He kept them broke and in need of the job. By the time he died, he was so despised- his grave in Graceland Cemetery (I believe) is covered by a small dance floor sized slab, as his family feared he would be dug up and torn to bits. We must always remember that not everyone with a fancy headstone buried in a graveyard was a good person.
Fascinating! The old church is beautiful. It’s too bad someone can’t make a drainage ditch to pull the water off so it can dry out and maybe preserve the graves a bit better
New followerer here! Love watching your videos! I love how you and your wife are respectful and kind when you walk through these cemeteries. I also hold my breath a little when you both walk through some that grounds look very questionable! Blessings to you both! xo
This cemetery is in sad shape. It needs a reorganization, if the community is in agreement and surviving relatives. The church looks beautiful. Great video!
Your channel is wonderful. I always look forward to your posts and this tour was totally fascinating as usual! So sad to see the disrepair though. So much rich history there. Thanks guys!
It looks like the flooding is a decades old problem, drainage ditches may help. But where would the water drainage go? So glad I'm being cremated, does away with worry of negligent cemeteries. Thanks for another great video
Captain john Taylor, as said is remembered he died in the Crimean war 1854, I would say at seige of Sebastopol. most soldiers died of disease more than action.

Hello, just popping in to make a couple of comments on the Vandeleur mausoleum, specifically the heraldry over the door. I can't see it very well, but the bird over the escutcheon (shield) might be a Pelican In Her Piety. This is a symbol of selfless service dating back to the Middle Ages, when people though that the pelican tore her breast open to feed her heart to her brood. (In reality, she tears her feathers out to pad the nest.) As for the arms underneath (three mullets, or starts)--I cannot find any documentation by which the Vandeleurs were granted arms, but I admit I haven't searched exhaustively. The arms appear to be supported by three feathers that strongly resemble those traditionally borne by the Prince of Wales, so possibly this family was using heraldic devices to which they were not entitled. Also, in the inscription, Vandeleur is described as the son of John Ormsby and Lady Frances Vandeleur. This indicates that Ormsby married above his station and took his wife's surname, as did all of his issue. Hope this isn't too boring. I love your channel and look forward to seeing new ones come out! Stay safe!
You mentioned shrouds have no pockets. I've decided in this life "to give with a warm hand." I want to see my kids and grandkids enjoy what I give them! No reason to wait.
Another grate video! It just happens that my last name is Moore as well. I do not know if I would be related in any way, as those in my family who would know are all on the wrong side of the grass. Or better put with the Good Lord. I guess it is just a Moore or less kinda thing. :) lol
