Beautiful adventure. Boy, those folks sure went all out on trying to prevent grave robbers! Double locks, and can't even visit the graves of those people in the courtyard. Unless you jump through the window. Wow!
This place is totally awesome! The church, the cloisters, the mausoleum, just awesome! I did make out a figure in the window. Looks like " someone " was wondering what you and GV was up to. I noticed that there were no names on the vaults in the mausoleum, or my eyesight is in worse condition than I thought. The inside of the church was beautiful. Great walking tour, thank you very much Sue and GV, and thank you for braving that heavy traffic. Have a great weekend 😀
@@SerenitySueGraveyards Hi Sue! Andy here from America! Love the old Church. I didn't quite hear, when did you say the entire place was built? Love to hear back! Thanks.
That’s so beautiful ❤. At 12:10 when you show the top window it looks like someone is looking out I think it’s just a reflection but it startled a little of me haha. It’s so beautiful there thank you for sharing
Fascinating tour of those ancient buildings and relics of times past. I can imagine how damp and cold it must be there, here I am sitting inside my place during another hot and sunny day in central Australia wishing we can get some rain to lay the red dust!
5:28 -- I saw the ghost!!!!! 😁 These places are so well preserved and there has been so much history (good and bad) soaked into these stones, that it's easy to 'feel' the presence of the occupants from the past. Thank you for making that drive and dealing with our modern traffic mess, to show us a great place like this!
It is so cool to see an intact abbey! So many have been left to fall into ruin. This abbey makes me think of Inchcolm Abbey, which is on an island in the Firth of Forth in Scotland. Inchcolm is semi-ruined, but you can climb all through it and imagine what it was like 1000 years ago. I’m so glad this abbey was preserved. Thanks for the tour!
I didn't see a ghost (unless there are talking about that blue thing floating in the air outside around 5:48), but Y'all about gave me a heart attack at 5:27 when you played the Gregorian Chant in the background. I was preparing food, and heard it, and had to play it back....
I was wandering through there around 20 years ago and it looks like it hasn’t changed a bit. Took some pictures while it was dark and caught some unusual things. It looks like the grass covered some of the other slabs in the cloister area. Should check out the abbey in the middle of the golf course nearby (pretty sure it’s still there) - that one’s pretty spooky too.
Sue…such an impressive visit! I am always fascinated by the churches and graveyards you visit. This one seemed special. I was looking at the carved seating along the walls beneath the many memorials. Just beautiful! I would do love to visit Ireland one day. God bless and have a great week. ☺️
A truly beautiful place. I watched it twice. The age and workmanship, just the feeling of it, you can indeed imagine the monks walking around there. Loved it. Thank you Sue. Keep warm, it looks cold there xx 🇦🇺❤xx Teresa
I would suggest that roof is called wattle and daub. Sticks and banches were interwoven to give shape to the structure and covered with daub. Daub was made from locally sourced soils heavy in clay.
I think the weather was a perfect backdrop for this place. What an amazing place to see. Glad you got into the church, too. Those windows were gorgeous. A wealthy family indeed. Yet how do we all end up… Well done, you two! I was transfixed watching this one! Sweet.
Beautiful area Sue and GV! Thank you! Prayers for the people in the accidents. The construction term I suspect you were thinking of is mud and waddle? Where they wove twigs and sticks into a mat and then filled it with a plaster to protect it. It was very common especially with hovels.
Great video Sue & what a beautiful church. Sorry to hear you got stuck in traffic but your dedication to your channel is awesome, without your effort we wouldn't get to see these lovely paces.×××
What a beautiful place that was. Those cloisters were stunning. Church was lovely. Lovely windows. Kuldip love to play the organ. Thanks for taking me along. Please take care
Thank you for the tour of this awesome church, the stained glass windows are just amazing, I could look at them all day. The other part with those narrow, steep stairs was a little creepy. Where would these people be buried? In the lawn that you couldn’t get to? Thanks for sharing ❤
This is a stunning abbey. Thank you monks...August inians I think I heard you say? This was well worth the traffic and issues to see this. Thank you so much!!🙏
A magnificent walk and I can't imagine how many people it took to build the church and the stone masons perfect work. Looks like a cold rainy day. Thanx for a beautiful video ❤❤😊😊
The third name of Florence Enid Quinn that you couldn't read on the wall plaque was Wyndham. Windham Thomas Wyndham -Quin, the 4th Earl of Dunraven and Mount -Earl, styled Viscount Adare. He was married to Florence. He was Under Secretary of State for the Colonies from 1885 to 1887. A big game hunter, he claimed 15,000 acres in Estes Park, Colorado, USA for a game park. He sold this land in the early 20th century as settlers were trying to encroach on his property. He had built a tourist hotel there.
If you look closely at the back wall there used to be a a passageway or doorway of some sort you can see the stone that arches so there must have been a door there of some sort
Sue at time stamped 5:28 just as you are looking up the steps, there is an image. I thought you added it, but you said nothing in the intro or ending. Your videos are outstanding 👍🏻👍🏻 . Please let me know if it was a shadow or something to expect in such a narrow stairwell.
Lol, no ghost Sue...The towers on each side of the crypt have rounded shapes on top. The angle of the light from where you were made it stand out in the window. Deb XXX
Oh, here is another treasure you have found. The cloister is a gem with little to no damage. You can almost hear the monks singing and chanting. The masoleum does look like a giant pizza oven but a very nice pizza oven at that! Lovely video Sue! PS Could there be monks in that masoleum?
Beautiful adventure. Boy, those folks sure went all out on trying to prevent grave robbers! Double locks, and can't even visit the graves of those people in the courtyard. Unless you jump through the window. Wow!
I did contemplate going over the wall but thought it was disrespectful, wondered how they cut the grass

In the Quin mausoleum you can see on the back way a bricked up archway So it used to open perhaps into the church.
