Thanks. This was shot with a DSLR. The footage and frame rate are superior to a camcorder in my opinion, but you are left with a manual zoom and focus. Run-n-gun shooting like these disc golf rounds can be less than perfect at times, but I do my best! "Bad" is such a generic term for 30 minutes of footage LOL Thanks for the feedback!
It would be great to go back and add commentary on top of this vintage footage. I can almost hear the usual crew roasting some of these shots in my head.
It's fun comparing this to how these guys play today. McBeth throws way more forehands than he used to. Ricky doesn't do nearly as many hyzer-flip forehand shots as he used to. Nikko still opts for backhanded flex shots most of the time and continues to have a love/hate relationship with putting into the middle of the chains.
@Jomezpro I wonder if Uli would ever do some throwback commentary on this. Now in 2022, Maybe the pain has diminished? Lol Having to re watch all of your videos over again. I’ve seen all the coverage you’ve put out. Love seeing how far you guys have come. Appreciate all the hard work
I would love to have had a longer zoom range, but this was shot on a DSLR camera. I feel the footage looks very clean compared to a camcorder, but sometimes you have to sacrifice long zoom range. Hopefully next shoot I'll have another lens to correct this. Thanks for watching!
I love the quality of your videos. I'm sure it's a conscious choice to leave it out, but I always appreciate knowing how long the holes are and who's in the lead. Thank you for the great footage of this awesome course!
I can agree with you there. However, the turn-around on this video was pretty quick, and this was a long round as it was so I tried to trim it down as much as possible to keep the round flowing. Thanks for the feedback!
Quality work, Jonathan. Looking forward to more DG from the Lone Star State (or wherever your "territory" may be). P.S. Surprised I didn't see more fore/backhand rollers at Selah.
Seeing this in 2021 sure is eye opening as to just how old I really am. Jomez has come a long way but lead cards have not changed much since then. Just Uli's putting. LOL
Great video! I love to watch the top guys battle it out so I can take notes for my own game. Keep posting more vids. This is quality work. Where was this tournament held?
Really liked how Nikko finally got his puts on line. The first 10 or so holes he could not buy a put, but once he got the first one to go he was spot on afterwards.
we made a badass course in the woods near our homes only 9 holes but you can only see 2 of them from the tee, and you can only play till early June after that its grown in to much to play.
The secret of sockibomb winning most of the recent tournaments is that he has improved his putting skill immensely and that's where he beats everybody. Oh! not to mention his forehand advantage where some pros couldn't either throw their best anhyzer or forehand. Lesson: Improve your putting and consistency in throw, not just the power.
I cant believe this was 7 years ago. Im sitting here commentating the round, noticing the change in playing styles. The only one using any kind of speed control is Paul. He throws 80% power. The other guys are throwing full power with more over stable discs. Dont even get me started on Nikkos anhyzer S curve haha.
All of u pros are world class and amazing disc golf players, but thank you for showing me that even the pros make mistakes, I feel a lot better about my game now seeing some of the bad throws that you guys made lol
Thanks for the good response, unlike these other fools who thumbs down'd on criticism lol. That's what separates the greats from the noobs, ability to take criticism.
Watching 2019. In some ways the old ways are better. Faster coverage, not so slick, but more earthy. It's a simple sport. Sometimes we don't need all the glam.
I actually think this is near perfect one camera work. I think it is better that you are not zooming so much. Zoom is cool but you lose the sense of depth and the don't get a good idea of where the player is trying to throw. Also, it is easy to make the viewers dizzy. Adding a one more camera man down the fairway would be awesome! Great work on this and the 2012 worlds.
Im usually not one to post bragging or insulting comments but I just couldnt resist after seeing Josh Gommert's "...out drive everyone who has posted...." comment. Not only is it impossible for him to make such a bold claim (especially boasting a 435 ft which isnt that impressive to most veteran players) But just in case he was correct, I regularly put 500+ ft drives on hole 12 at Veterans in Arlington TX. Sorry Josh, guess your not top dog. (Dont feel bad though, Im certain Im not either)
So is it just me or was Nikko throwing a lot more anhyzers vs. what he's thrown in the past in countless videos I've seen of him? I'm talking about both tee shots and approaches. I don't want to assume anything but imagine that it's related to the new selection of plastic he's throwing? Not hating here, at all. Really just looking to see if anybody else noticed this.
you should not edit out things like them walking to get there disc out of the basket, we can count there paces and get an idea of how far away they were putting from
I think Prodigy was still fairly new.. a couple years maybe? not sure.. but I know their mid selection was limited when I first got into the game some 4 years back for sure.
Wow, amazing how much insight you have.......So making the Top Card isn't "promising" anymore? - For more on this just read Chris Davies comment above.....armchair critics and haters unite.
Hater eh? Well.. if you haven't realized Ulibarri hasn't really done anything substantial since breaking on the Pro scene then i dunno what to tell you.
Poor Ulibarri. After narrowly missing that ace he just couldn't catch a break. This is one of those rare courses where OB isn't really necessary. The course punishes you all by itself.
Poor Ulibarri, was so promising as a youngster. Hasn't done too well lately. but yeah, Nikko sounds like he's just happy to be there and is very overt and open about cheering on his Prodigy teammates even though they are competing to take money away from him. No McBeth love for any shot. I sense a great divide happening at the top.
Crazy how far things have come. Thank you for covering the sport so well. The sport would be so much less without your videos.
Glad you enjoyed it! This round was played at East Metro Park in Manor, TX
9 years later and all these players are still the best in our sport!
It would be great to go back and add commentary on top of this vintage footage. I can almost hear the usual crew roasting some of these shots in my head.
oh wait, i see that this has already been done.
I'm coming back to these videos and watching all the way through after seeing some of the recent ones. I really enjoy them.
I love that youtube has recommended this to me again in 2021.
Thank you RUclips 🤝

Thank you for the great footage of this awesome course!
Fantastic video! Well done, thank you for representing disc golf so well
Ive been waiting for a texas states video! thanks for providing this!
How cool to look back. Keep up the progression!
great camera work! very much appreciated.
I can agree with you there. However, the turn-around on this video was pretty quick, and this was a long round as it was so I tried to trim it down as much as possible to keep the round flowing. Thanks for the feedback!
damn this is dope production man! thanks for uploading i can't wait to see more of your dg videos
great footage, thanks for shooting and sharing
THANKS on all accounts!!
Great camera work. Thanks for the video. Would have liked to see score updates between holes though and maybe a description of the hole being played.
Love this fast pace footage
Basically the best in the world on one card. Awesome video!
So cool to hear Ulibarri talk about himself playing this round with Ricky's 6 time and then be able to watch it.
Ricky is a boy
Quality work, Jonathan. Looking forward to more DG from the Lone Star State (or wherever your "territory" may be). P.S. Surprised I didn't see more fore/backhand rollers at Selah.
Fun to watch these four guys duke it out. All young and very talented.
Seeing this in 2021 sure is eye opening as to just how old I really am. Jomez has come a long way but lead cards have not changed much since then. Just Uli's putting. LOL
Thank you sir!
the coolest intro ive ever seen...thanks for the sweet upload...liked, fav'd and subscribed ;)
17:42 - that was a hell of a putt.
Nicko really kept his cool this round which is nice to see.
lol sorta - 12:55
I agree with whoever suggested showing what disc they're using on the screen for each shot. Like they do in ball golf.
Great video! I love to watch the top guys battle it out so I can take notes for my own game. Keep posting more vids. This is quality work. Where was this tournament held?
I would zoom in a bit more if I was you. But thanks for recording this.
McBeth and his fashion style - cover my eyes. D'oh!
Striped shirt and plaid shorts. Terrible look.
bouchercm8 more like beast look
Great Job Jonathan.
Really liked how Nikko finally got his puts on line. The first 10 or so holes he could not buy a put, but once he got the first one to go he was spot on afterwards.
Still watching in 2018
Some people who film do do this, I don't know there name but it is really nice to know.
I getting back into disc golf and what's the best distance driver. I still got an inova wrath
I wish I knew which disc they were throwing on each shot.. that would be good for our sport
next time you do this can you list the par of each hole, the distance, the shot number for each person, and theyre score?
Nikko's tips to controlling the disc:
1. FLIP!!
2. KICK RIGHT!!!
what a beautiful recovery shot 6:00
haha awsome to see ricky going for that trick put at the end with that big lead fun guys :D
LOL it was pretty damn obvius he was gona split the trees just for the crowd cause he had so many strokes on the card lol........
nice video!
Wow, prodigy had everyone back then, geez!! Wasn't the other company around?
we made a badass course in the woods near our homes only 9 holes but you can only see 2 of them from the tee, and you can only play till early June after that its grown in to much to play.
who's here in 2031 still watching

Playing here tomorrow for the first time need to scout
Just came from the showmez episode with Uli, poor guy, but funny as hell
I cant believe this was 7 years ago. Im sitting here commentating the round, noticing the change in playing styles. The only one using any kind of speed control is Paul. He throws 80% power. Anyone else pop by in 2020 just to see, and was like... “Dayummm”
I found this to check out the course before playing it for the first time today! Great condition and will punish you if you’re not in the fairway!
@ 25:20 ... does Ulibarri mimic Ricky's putt??!
That course is brutal.
what a sweet intro too.
That it's a stacked top card!!
whats the name of the course they played in this vid?
East Metro Park in Manor, TX
All of u pros are world class and amazing disc golf players, but thank you for showing me that even the pros make mistakes, I feel a lot better about my game now seeing some of the bad throws that you guys made lol

I think Uli was using their discs this round.
Watching 2019. In some ways the old ways are better. Faster coverage, not so slick, but more earthy. It's a simple sport. Sometimes we don't need all the glam.
Good video! Keep it up :D

This course reminds me a lot of Hudson Mills in Michigan.
Im usually not one to post bragging or insulting comments but I just couldnt resist after seeing Josh Gommert's "...out drive everyone who has posted...." comment. Did Uli suffer an early-round injury? Or, did he just get too psyched after his near-ace?!
Premiere Pro CS6. A simple search will give you tons of instructional videos on how to use the software :)
So is it just me or was Nikko throwing a lot more anhyzers vs. what he's thrown in the past in countless videos I've seen of him? I'm talking about both tee shots and approaches. do any of the Prodigy guys even use their company's plastic?
I watched this video about 9x now. Lol
Paul makes every putt look so easy
has Uli been scrapping? looks like he took a punch the night before
hole ten , around 14:30? etiquette... man.
Nice footage. It's great to see that even the big players have problems with that damned yellow band too. lol
That is one tough course
All of it
Hello from 2020.
7:51 Wysocki's using a KC Pro Aviar. Guess the rumors were true.
I think Prodigy was still fairly new.. a couple years maybe? not sure.. but I know their mid selection was limited when I first got into the game some 4 years back for sure.
Man, that was not Uli's round.
holy crap these guys were all just kids!
my arm gets tired just watching lol
Poor Uli - sometimes, the only thing that clicks is your disc into a tree and/or the rough
has no one noticed Paul McBeth's stripes and plaid??
Wow, amazing how much insight you have.......So making the Top Card isn't "promising" anymore? - For more on this just read Chris Davies comment above.....armchair critics and haters unite.
man, the holes look shorter, the gaps look wider and the putts look longer on this video.
That course was not kind to Uli. Tough break
Andrew Storie i've still yet to witness a single course be kind to him...
Lol, rekt^
ahahah anyone at 10:23 notice the faint AHHHHH! when Lacastro's disc veers off course
no one ever uses the hammer throw, one of my favorites
mcbeth just draining everything 12:47
dang, I gotta get my flick down like rick
Hater eh? Well.. if you haven't realized Ulibarri hasn't really done anything substantial since breaking on the Pro scene then i dunno what to tell you.
Poor Ulibarri. After narrowly missing that ace he just couldn't catch a break. This is one of those rare courses where OB isn't really necessary. The course punishes you all by itself.
Seems like trees in Texas hate disc golf discs just as much as the ones in Virginia
when we get angry nikko back his game will improve
SIDE ARM FLICK
Do you get to take relief if you land in one of those f-ing gimangous cactus'??
Poor Ulibarri, was so promising as a youngster. Hasn't done too well lately. but yeah, Nikko sounds like he's just happy to be there and is very overt and open about cheering on his Prodigy teammates even though they are competing to take money away from him. 5:24 😂
Look at these kids?
