@Yuri Gomes he's an introvert, he stated many times he would be selling drugs instead if it wasn't for music. too alone with his thoughts. he knows himself better. that's what he means.
@@theilluzionist3565 yea 2000s Madlib was just insane. From Quasimoto,Yesterdays New Quintet,Jaylib,Madvillainy,Monk Hughs it goes on, hes always making music
The whole aesthetic of beat making is insanely good, going around looking for crates enjoying watching great cover art from them records, picking some and then heading back home to the lab and getting down to work listening to new music and creating with them headphones and machines it's just so satisfying to me, the machines, the beat tapes, the work that it takes to make beats.. this is what sampling is about, it's about the culture.
And people still think that sampling is easy, I can assure you that Madlib level of sampling is no different than Bach level of counterpoint... Unfortunately most people are ignorant in this world but culture over everything...
X-101 I disagree, he seems more outgoing in this video than normal. He’s always been kinda reserved I think. Also the recent interview with him and Freddie Gibbs he was quite outgoing
There's gotta be a reason for all that, as people we might not possibly know, Kanye could be a prime example, still a legendary producer no doubt but compare to his old self and his self now you can see something is going on with these guys
he honestly seems similar to me. just seems like a reserved guy expressing himself in different ways depending on the situation/feeling antisocial sometimes/feeling more comfortable other times.
Its been 20 fucking years of success and fame dude. What do you expect. And no im not saying he changed in a bad way. I'm saying anyone is bound to change.
Watching this really threw me for off, mostly because I'm beginning to see the importance of paying homage in sampling. I usually find samples on youtube that are in a playlist for "Stuff to sample" but seeing cats like Madlib or Dilla, or really any legendary producer who digs through the crates, I see why it's so much better to go back to the basics, because it's that raw sound, energy, feeling, and what can really make or break a beat or song for that matter.
como é bom ser brasileiro e assistir um videos desses, que honra a nossa termos madlib aqui e produzindo essas obras primas com músicas brasileiras, da pra ver q ele gosta das nossas musica e da nossa cultura q orgulho
People talking about how reserved Madlib is now, shit. He was tight with Dilla and he passed away, his best friend. I’m sure he has kids and things just start hitting different than 20’s. Now we had DOOM pass away and I’m sure he’s had plenty of that with family as well, admire the road he’s on don’t judge it!

plus he already had a mansion in LA at this point without ever even doing a major label record. he was killing it
