It's good to have some more options in low pro TKL space because there really was only one choice. I also love that it's not overtly gamery, so can actually be takin into an office without the looks lol.
As we've seen, any competition is good so I'm happy to see them jump on this (though I'm frankly surprised it took this long)
Sounds pretty good too. We love to see it

I'm really hoping that Razer goes way out there and releases a new updated Razer Deathstalker Ultimate which could include a stream deck screen for the numpad and make it hot swap to boot. It would probably cost a lot of $$$ but we need innovation in this space. Great review as always!

I mean at that point you might as well get a TKL or 60% and just buy a stream deck separate. No point in combining the two together when more likely than not one is going to be subpar to other options on the market.

G915 is still going for 239.99 at my local stores. It goes on sale sometimes but prices have just been like that. I’d say the keychron is close but wireless is just bluetooth so that sucks.
Wireless tech, optical switches, nicer keycaps, usb-c charging, make it kinda hard to beat. I still like full size for work. I’m glad they added media controls to the tkl. It’s not a custom but hey it’s available.

I tried them both myself today, the Razor with its linear switches feels very high quality, and has less keycap wobble than the logitech however the Logitech with its tactile switches is still "more fun" to type on. Hard to explain, I guess everyone has to try it out himself. Apart from the microUSB plug I don't see the problem with the Logitech being 3 years old.

All the switches and stabilizers on my Huntmans V1 has been lubed with PTFE dry lube and Krytox 205, added 2mm eva foam to the base, and did a medical tape mod for the modifier stabilizer. I also don't like the battery life with the current gen of wireless keyboards, I want a wireless keyboard with at least 100 hours of battery life using a 2.4Ghz dongle and not bluetooth.

Nice to see the g915 finally have some competition.
Does this require Razer synapse to be running to store all the RGB settings and functions still? Synapse is so bloated and a resource hog. I ended up disabling it entirely (i also disabled my RGB so it wasnt a big loss).

    • @terrancecloverfield6791
      @terrancecloverfield6791 2 года назад

Probably does require the Synapse software. We have never seen that change as all 'gaming keyboards' require that, as other mechanicals that allow storing macros were always the ZMK or QMK.

You're damn right it's targeting logitech, I replaced my G915 TKL with this. Touch-feel wise the G915 TKL felt terribly cheap, I had the brown tactile switch version and the keys didnt feel good to the touch, at all. And then there is the redundant upper most row on the keyboard that shouldnt have been given a place on the keyboard because it basically makes the keyboard longer vertical wise for no good reason. The razer keyboard feels great, I have the red switch version, I'd recommend it to anyone. The only drawback is that some of the RGB effects can't be saved to the on-board memory, which isn't too big of a deal but it is nonetheless a big one considering the amount of money I spent on this. There aren't even that many RGB effects either, they really have to improve on their keyboard lighting features.

"Show oil": I thought it isn't oil, it's polish. Because ABS is soft, our fingers literally "polish" the keys we touch, flattening the texture and smooth it out, making it shine.
Back on topic, my G913 TKL served me well but the left Ctrl had a habit of sticking, had to thin down one of its stabilizer legs because that was catching on a edge. The polish on the keys also started to bother me a lot. On top of that the G913 started to develop delays for no apparent reason, even when fully charged. It had become just an expensive piece of unreliable toy for me. Now I'm using the Logitech MX Mechanical Mini as the low polling rate is more than enough for light gaming like Diablo Immortal and Stacklands.
I wonder if this Razer product is why the G913 TKL has been selling at a constant 30-40% off for months now in my country. When I noticed it earlier this year I thought that they're finally going to release a new version...
I doubt if I'd every want to try the Razer one, though. While the low profile style looks beautiful, the shorter travel on the switches is something I'm only just barely able to bear. Just doing an "asdf" on my good old Filco makes me want to dump all these low profile garbage away. But the wireless, the long battery life, and the aesthetics...

These prices make me grimace. I did a Redragon K618 Horus, with hot swappable switches for $70. It's easy to mod the thing, and it feels and sounds better to me than any of these $150+ offerings from the big companies. Follows the same form factor, also wireless, looks shockingly nice for a crap brand. I've fit some third party PBT XDA profile keys on it as well.

I owned the G915 I have never been more underwhelmed by a keyboard before in my life. If I were to sum it up in one word, it would be 'meh'.

Honestly all these oem keyboards feel like garbage to me after building my own keybord, the 915 gave me terrible finger fatigue

If this was $160 I would buy it just for productivity. $219 is still hard to justify.

Nice review! How well does this keyboard work with macOS devices? Any issues or differences with the function keys?

I think Razer was in the right for making this, I've talked to many non-keyboard enthusiast and many seem to like the G915.

Do Razer's low-profile linear switches feel spongey/squishy like the the optical linear switches in the huntsman?

@@BrawndoQC I don't need the wireless on my keyboard, I want the quiet, deep thock experience. Can't stand tinny keyboards.

@@katzicael The deep thock like you're shaking a bag of pool balls? I hate that. My Keychron K3E3 with optical tactile is very quiet. But I want wireless, we are in 2022 no wires on my desk. It's all about feel and typing speed and efficiency, not sound. Keeb enthusiasts are weird. I can do 120 wpm on a crap $15 low profile membrane from Amazon if I wanted to.

Was my first thought that is exactly the G915 just like with the Razer Basilisk mouse . Even so i dont minde Razer always refines these thing to make it better , its is a cheap way doing things from thier side like "copy my homework but make some changes" thing even so Razer makes it better and with thier software it will be even better its Logitech fault that they dont improve the hardware/software . I would even say they should just team up and go all out instead of copy-paste things would be epic .
