Regrettably, she died a few years ago. She was the ripe old age of 103. A long and fulfilling life for sure. She will be sorely missed. Apparently, she had never seen herself on film until shortly before she died, even though she performed extensively.

Cool Hui Nui (Big Band) Hawaiian Swing tune @ 3:05; all good performers (no wonder HI music was so popular then!)

A mix of swing, show tunes, leg art, and jitterbugging. The Hoagy Carmichael version of Lazybones has the most star power and the best dancing. Erskine Hawkins is the best known band playing here

Adore Hoagy Carmichael! In the movie To Have and Have Not, the 1st song he does; “Am I Blue” was my first time hearing him. What a phenom!

Im looking everywhere for Soundies by Harry Ranch and his Kernals of korn.
They are from the world War 2 years(40's). I believe Warners Bros. made them. They also were regulars on two TV shows ,one on Dumont, and one on NBC. "The Village Barn"-1st live music Tv show ever. " Hotel Broadway" produced by Whelens drug stores.

I don’t get why people were so against music videos when they first became a thing in the 80s, when soundies existed

    • @GreenDragon11

Some of the best entertainment were the videos in the 80’s! Micheal Jackson was King for a reason! Still miss him!
Hell all the talent in the 80’s along with making videos were and are brilliance personified and now I find out about these incredible Soundies!
Thanks to ALL talent in our history for entertaining us and making us feel good!!!

Why was an obnoxious noise filter applied to the sound? It sounds like it's coming through running water. It's like someone called you on their cell phone from halfway around the world, and then held it up to their projector.

@@rick-pn3fq Thanks! She had a pretty face and smile, as cute as a bug! A tall, shapely, long-legged lady as well, from what I could tell. I assume she was laid to rest in Manila after she died? And her husband? Wonder if her children ever came back to the states? I'm, always curious about those people that appeared in these films. Also the dancing girls and extras that appeared with no credits. They always seem to be the ones that catch my interest. Those nameless ladies in films and videos of old. I guess most of them did like Carlyn, found someone, married and then disappeared from any sort of film entertainment appearances afterwards.
