I watched your “...Catfish Special” review. Do you know if the white blank and the orange/yellow blanks are the same materials...or are the “Specials” higher end? I would be disappointed if they were the same material blanks, just a new color and a fancier grip.
They are a way better quality hands down ! Super sensitive and bends like you wouldn’t believe but has the back bone to reel in the monsters with out a doubt if you can find one get it I have a feeling these will be one of those rare rods to have!!
@@mikewolfe789 you mean the catfish special (orange) are better? By the way I coupled my catfish special's with two of the Abu Garcia 6501 C3 reels. They are sweet! But I recently ordered two of the one in this video. 7 ft version just for fishing from a boat. Both are 2-piece baitcasting rods.
Update since 2 years have passed. I've ditched using the 8 ft catfish specials. I'm finding that I like the white ones better. Much stiffer tip for throwing two and three oz sinkers. And I prefer the 7 ft baitcasting rods as opposed to the 8 ft. Much easier to cast and you can get them in a two-piece which is easier to break down to put in your car.
I've had both. It's a different rod blank material. Too bad they couldn't take both rods and make a better rod. If they were to give the catfish special a stiffer top like the white rods but slim down the handle light the white rods and then add the shrink wrap rubber gripping, then you would have a world class rod. Between the two I think the white ones are better in real time scenarios. But only if you get the 7 ft version with an Ambassadeur reel. The catfish specials were okay. But two years later and about 55 rods I've gone through trying to find a better balance on the top and the bottom, I'm done with those and sticking with the white ones.
For the price it's fkin worth it especially being 1 piece.... got myself 2 paired with shimano 4000 reels and salt striker reel.. what reels is the you have there? my local Walmart has plenty.. up north here mofos dont catfish alot..they missing out
