Those are good poles I'm still impressed with Berkley rods from Walmart caught some big fish on the pole but I take the ugly stick and nice fish

I'm curious why guys fishing for catfish prefer baitcasting reels over spinning reels. I generally use spinning reels. Some of my spinning reels have right at 40lb drag while none of my baitcasters have near that amount.
Good question!
I use spinning reels when bottom bouncing and/or drifting. I like the big baitcaster reels when anchor fishing. Just my preference really.

The spawn is here, so expect it to be tough.
I do think you have a better chance on bigger fish late afternoon and into the night.
I recommend cut and live bluegill. The flatheads should still be on the prowl at night. Hope you do well!
