    Just want to say Thanx for this video. I just replaced the rear calipers on my wife's Accord today. I've done alot of brake work, pads, front caliper, rotor and even bending and flaring my own lines, but not without the help of a mechanic buddy of mine. This was my first set of caliper replacements solo along with bleeding (always been the pedal pumper, never really seen what happens on the other end) and your video made it seemless. I even watched and made the self bleeder bottle you suggested. Thanx a TON!!!

    Constructive criticism... if you, or someone you care about, will be working on the car again use a torque wrench. Any cheap torque wrench is better than not having one. Nice vid!

    Thank you for this video. I have this exact same problem. I tried tightening the brake line from inside the car's center console, but it didn't work. I got quoted $800 for labour and parts for this job, but looks like a simple sunday DIY 👍

    This is great. Very easy to follow.
    I have a 2015 Accord which already had 194,000+ miles on it before I just drove it from New Jersey to Nebraska. I noticed the parking break is loose. It seems to engage, but I have to pull it back quite a bit. It is extremely loose when I first begin to pull it. I was thinking it just needed adjustment (like you show at the end), but now I wonder if it is seized where it connects to one of the calipers. I will have to get in there when I am able to do it right. If I have to replace anything, I will know how. Thanks.

    I have the same problem on my Accord 2017, the driver rear, the handbrake does not engage. Just a quick question for you, can this issue also cause spongy brakes?

    • @MechanicalMalarkey
      @MechanicalMalarkey  2 месяца назад +1

      It's not a typical cause of spongy brakes in my experience.

    I’m experiencing a e brake issue. Even after adjusting the cable and pulling up the brake the car still moves. I did a complete brake job I changed the front and rear rotors and pads. I also, replaced the passenger side rear caliper. When the car was purchased at CarMax they changed out the driver rear caliper because the e brake wouldn’t engage then. I’m thinking the emergency cable is binding somehow?

  • @NeoAndersonReloaded

    My cables under the console arent equal. Also, having hot rotors in the rear 190degree vs front 140degrees

    Do you ever see any problems with the rubber brake hoses on Honda cars? When I do this to my wife's 2013 accord I think I will also replace the rubber brake lines? Thank you for the video

    • @MechanicalMalarkey
      @MechanicalMalarkey  2 года назад

      I don't recall any leaks from the hoses on any Hondas I've worked on.

    • @gregoryluther838
      @gregoryluther838 2 года назад

      @@MechanicalMalarkey Not so much leaking but I have replaced old hoses that have deteriorated on the inside which kept the brake fluid from returning after the brake pedal had been released. This may not happen anymore with today’s fluids and materials used, but if your brakes are ever stuck on and dragging and you don’t know why and your car is pretty old, could be the rubber lines. Do you have any aftermarket replacements parts that you prefer to use?

    • @MechanicalMalarkey
      @MechanicalMalarkey  2 года назад

      @@gregoryluther838 I buy most of my parts from RockAuto, I don't have a ton of brand loyalty, but for brakes I often get Centric or other brands I know the names of like Raybestos or AC Delco.
