This is why Tommy Shaw has been my favorite rock star since the early 70's. Such a dynamo in a small package and I think he's just the cutest damn thing....JY magnificent as always...I will always love TS and Styx.
JY's soliloquy is beyond amazing. I mean, I already loved this song (my tape of Grand Illusion (I know, I'm dating myself with that) was so overplayed this song and Miss America wouldn't play anymore, just garbled), but that speech, it really pushed it into the stratosphere. And then Tommy's solo? Low Earth Orbit. Bloody amazing. Can't wait to see them this June!
Summer between 9th & 10th grade when this was released, had this on cassette, and played it consistently. Although this and the second side of the album didn't much airplay, this was my favorite tune from it. Loved the of the chorus, thought it was/is a beautiful melody.
"Superstars" was always one of their greatest songs...So underrated, it should have been a massive hit! Truly magical what Dennis DeYoung, Tommy Shaw, and James J'Y' Young could compose when they worked together.

It was a good performance but I can't accept Styx without DDY. I understand "the show must go on" but Grand Illusion was DDYs project. I have yet to see any good original music from the band in his absence. I saw Alice in Chains in Las Vegas a few years ago and tried to give that band a chance with their new front man. But without Layne Staley, the older music lacked the quality which once made the band what it was. AIC did play some new original music with their new front man which did get my attention.
Dennis brought this on himself, trying to tell the other members they couldn't tour without him. And taking them to federal court for ludicrous reasons...

Without Dennis it's grand illusion to call it "Styx". The harmonies are especially missing the Styx trademark sound.
