      Thank you!
      I don't recommend the way my exhaust is set up right now... I've got 2.5 inch piping all the way back, 1 magnaflow resonator, 1 vibrant resonator, and a magnaflow muffler. Then I have a cut-out behind rear door. The reason for all the resonators is, I had an eBay header that was so raspy I was constantly trying to kill the rasp with a different resonator. Had I known, I would have bought the MEDUSA years ago and save the money trying to kill the eBay rasp.
      This video was shot with cut out OPENED- this is how I drive it 90% of the time. It gets closed when the baby goes for a ride. The car sounds great opened not too loud and full of tone. When the cutout is closed, it's almost too quiet with those resonators- but that's how I needed it with the baby.

      @@GamerGavin04 At time of this video, i had the , in order, Medusa, stock mid pipe, 2.5 inch piping all the way back, Vibrant resonator, cut out, and magnaflow muffler.
      Do whatever you want, the Medusa sounds so good, however in my opinion the vibrant resonator is the secret sauce. It killed all rasp.
      Ive since changed the exhaust to a little different set up.
      Yes lineing up the Medusa to the stock flange is a PIA. I had to do it a little backwards,,, line the stock flange up to the Medusa and get the bolts thru and the nuts on a few turns, then start installing the top nuts.
      Don’t forget the donut gasket.
      Also before you do anything spray a gallon of pb blaster on those manifold nuts.(cold engine) then wait an hour and spray again.

I cant remember if I was able to run it without the slim fans, but I got them anyways because they were a nice upgrade. I did however need the alt bracket. Only thing I dont run that ppl recommend is the alt heat shield and exhaust wrap. Havnt had issues with alt overheating once, even on real hot summer days while running it hard. One complaint though, I was even told this would happen, the welds stsrted to crack. Not too bad yet, just surface cracks. If you havnt seen yet though in the facebook groups, 2J is a trash company. They sell ebay/chinese junk with their name on it, according to an ex-employee and others with experience with their parts. Most id buy from them if I were you is that alt bracket and maybe an exhaust. Other than that, stay away from 2J.

      Sir Poopsalot man it took about 3 hours, just cause you have to fabricate and fit the slim fan into the shroud. Don’t worry about the springs that came with your kit either. I didn’t use them cause it put more stress on the zip ties than anything really. But install was fun, as long as you know what you’re doing it isn’t bad at all. And my car is lowered and I haven’t had any issues. Also got the 2.5” midpipe with no cat. I actually have some videos up of my previous set up which is a really well recommended header which was a stillen. The dusa cleans up top end nice. I finally finished installing the Medusa header this weekend (Aug 10) and it was a nightmare to complete the upgrade. I can't blame 2J Racing for my woes, but if they had provided some instructions or pictures of how the installation should proceed, especially where the low-profile fan is concerned, it would have saved me a lot of frustration. I tried to document my installation with pics of each step but it quickly became apparent that this wasn't going to be a simple install so I abandoned the documentation effort.
    1st problem: Right out the gate, the lower bolt for the alternator would not come out. It was an aftermarket Alt that the previous owner must have installed with an air gun because the threaded steel insert would spin but the bolt wasn't backing out. I found this video ruclips.net/video/hodU6maQUZk/видео.html and it worked, but only after breaking 4 drill bits and wearing out 2 Cobalt ones just to be able to drill a hole deep enough to immobilize the insert long enough to unscrew the bolt.
    2nd problem: how to install the low profile fan. I wasn't keen on installing it directly onto the radiator, so I had to devise a way to mount it to the Original Fan Assy Frame from the inside of the frame so it would still have sufficient clearance to the header but not touching the radiator fins. Also, I wanted the ability to unplug the fan in case I had to take it out later so I had to find a male/female connector and then wire it up to the harness.
    3rd problem: figuring out the Alt & new bracket bolt tightening order so the alternator was positioned correctly. I must have put in & taken it out at least 3 times before I got it right.
    4th problem: installed the header, but the bolt holes to the stock downpipe doesn't align so only one bolt would fit. I still need to grind out the 2nd hole in the downpipe to install the 2nd bolt but at least the car is road worthy again.
    The effort was worth it when I started the engine and heard that beautiful exhaust roar to life. The car feels more responsive and pulls like a Clydesdale!

    • @OMGITSAAAJ
      @OMGITSAAAJ  5 лет назад

      It definitely was a pain but man is it worth it. I like your idea of having a connector for the fan, and a mount away from the rad. I might just do that, but I've had zero issues since the install. I definitely plan to install a 2j downpipe soon. Just to add to the natural sound. And give me that much more flexibility of being able to remove for access...(I'm currently welded). I'm glad you worked it out!

      @@paulclemetson7760 What about you Sir, How do you like the Medusa header? Was it worth all the installation trouble? Any dyno numbers? Is the bottom flange that connects to the mid pipe threaded like the stock exhaust manifold, or would I need to use nuts to bolt the header and mid pipe together? Did you ever get a chance to compare it with any of the the top header brands on the market? Thanks!

    • @paulc2357
      @paulc2357 4 года назад +1

      @@nicksta16 Well it's been 8 months since I installed the Medusa header on my QR25. My short answer to your question about whether it was worth all the installation troubles is NO. I spent the extra money to have it Ceramic coated which started to peel 3 months later. Joe said to send it back and he'd have it re-coated, but what the F am I going to do during those 2 weeks waiting to get it back since its installed on my daily driver!
      Let me explain further... The bottom flange of the Medusa header does NOT have threaded coupling holes so you will either
      a) need bolts, nuts, washers and springs to devise a system to replicate the stock Nissan spring setup IF you want to have flex at the flange for when the engine flexes under acceleration.
      or
      b) install the header and take the car to an exhaust shop and have them modify / replace the flange on the stock midpipe with one that will mate to the header.
      or
      c) weld two 1/4" thick nuts to the mating side of the Medusa flange so you can screw the stock Nissan midpipe to the header. In hindsight, this is the simplest and cheapest way to install to the stock exhaust.
      However, if you are going to use a 2JR midpipe, then make sure you find a good welder that can weld stainless steel. My 2JR midpipe didn't fit worth crap, wouldn't seal properly and I ended up up scrapping the entire system and had one custom built. I've spent over $900 redoing the entire exhaust system and I won't spend another dime to dyno it just to satisfy my curiosity. I would recommend you keep the stock 2" midpipe and muffler, but if you really want to upgrade, don't go above 2.5" as it kills the performance!

      NARK NARKO butt dyno only. I felt a significant low end torque increase. It’s night and day compared to other headers I had. Qr is on stock internals for now, cams happening soon I hope. Also the qr has nearly 200000 miles on the original untouched engine and still pulling high 14s in the quarter which I’m extremely happy about. That being said, cams haven’t happened yet because they will need to be installed with a full engine rebuild/refresh to make it all worth it.

      @@OMGITSAAAJ Interesting. Are you tuned with UPREV or something? I saw that REV limit go way past stock. Thanks for all the info.

    • @OMGITSAAAJ
      @OMGITSAAAJ  4 года назад

      NARK NARKO yes I’m Uprev tuned by 2jracing. And I was making those numbers before the Medusa but I’ve also got bolt-ons. The slim fan is better than stock because is a 1speed fan so it’s always blowing high. But the drawback is it’s pretty loud at idle. For peak horsepower and better top end and quicker quarter mile times, there are better options out there as far as headers go. 2jracing sells others. Check out the long tubes he sells. But for canyon driving, engine braking, and highway passing/streetable power- the Medusa is THE BEST. It multiplies the torque the qr already had. You don’t ever NEED to downshift to pass on the highway. As far as a street race goes... 1st gear your even with the other guy. 2nd gear your creeping passed. 3rd gear you’ve passed him completely. 4th gear you’re showing off.Lol . Not that I ever street race tho😏
