    For this video, a buddy of mine named Andy handed me the keys to a rather different kind of setup you don't see around here often-a turbocharged Nissan Sentra Spec V with a 50 trim turbonetics turbo. It was quite the little sleeper, and I can say it was a really fun time. Thanks for watching as always and stay awesome!

    Talking about 280 wheel HP like it's not very much? Dude I had a 3500 lb. MK3 Supra with about 230whp, and that thing was fucking insane. I guess nowadays with all the modern cars that make huge horsepower, the definition of what's considered "fast" has been steadily rising. I personally feel like 180whp in a light car is really fast. Even 150whp is quick. People are forgetting that you don't need massive numbers to have fun, especially on the street.

When you’re constantly driving a car that’s so high in power and torque cars that are in the 100’s aren’t going to be very fun lol

      to be completely honest... it is very expensive to mod this car. unless you are doing minor/bolt on upgrades. y mean the engine itself has a fair amount of well documented problems..
      >the counter balance weight locks up and breaks the timing chain.
      >VALVE COVER LEAK/ SEALS they tend to go out!!!
      >MAF Moda fociking MAF!!!
      i built mine but it was a project of love and years in order to have it make reliable power.. and honda has a more "mainstream" market and high demand, which makes it somewhat affordable.
      all and all i do not regret building my sentra!

    • @CrazyLazyDave
      @CrazyLazyDave 9 лет назад +2

      ***** it means its not a "horrible" chassis. I'm not saying its a freaking super car. It was $20k brand new. Go watch some videos of the 2j-racing sentra (the guy that tuned the car in this video) and see if you think the chassis is horrible. There's nothing inherently wrong with the car stock other than wheel hop, which is easily remedied. But yes of course the 2j car has been "tuned". But it still has the same chassis. Just go watch a video and see all the $80k cars this $20k chassis passes. This car that still has a solid rear beam rear suspension. I guess I just don't know what cars your comparing to call the Sentra chassis horrible. Certainty not a Honda or any other car in its price range.
      I'm really not intending to fight with you. And I shouldnt have made the "what you know" comment. I just wanted to point out that the chassis is no where near horrible. That car even in stock form will outrun a hole lot of cars on a back road bone stock.
      Do I think its an Awesome chassis? No. But its far from horrible. Its a very good chassis for a $20k car.

    Being a owner of one of these cars, they are just as fun N/A as they are boosted, aftermarket support is finally gaining some ground and growing so if you're looking to get one do it BUT BE WARNED....they can become money pits(as you add more parts to it) plus the stock exhaust manifold needs to be replaced ASAP with a header and the butterfly screws on the upper intake manifold need to be loctited. Add a CAI, Catback Exhaust, lightweight pulleys, motor mount inserts and lower it some and they're really fun cars.

    I have the blue one. Writing this in 2023. I used it as my daily back in the day when I would drive from Ventura to Malibu. Always took the PCH there and back. I love the car. It is still stock. On the highway, I could get about 30 mpg somewhere around 78 mph. Was awesome to have. Saved the miles on my truck. I have kept it all these years. I have a 2019 Honda R-Type.... but I still love my SE-R. I am about to boost it and I'm replacing the clutch and doing other work on it so it will last another 15 years. Unfortunately, it is made from cheap plastics and lots of the interior I am slowly replacing. Absolute love this car. I plan to drop a couple grand into it every year and just slowly build it up as a project.

    Not really a sleeper with SE-R badges all over it, everyone knew nissan ripped out the puny little 1.8 liter and shoved that massive 2.5 liter altima engine in the SE-R models, which bone stock had a massive amount of low end torque for a 4 cly and drove like a V6.But also i don't like this model, the 2002 - 2003 was way better looking with the skyline R34 inspired front end, lowered track suspension and other parts. this just looks like a regular gxe with rocker panels bigger wheels and foglights. also most people just do the V6 swaps with SE-R' sentras, don't really see too many turbos so that's pretty rare.
    The 2.5 is adequite for this light body, but those V6 are monsters in this light little car, just like the Sentra SE-R SCCA Touring car, it had a VQ engine.

      Eh, personally I've seen more turbo QR25's than VQ35 swaps. The VQ swaps are nice and they make similar power to the turbo QRs if you leave them NA, but it's pretty expensive for the swap kits at least that I've seen.

    Dose Andy still have this car. If he added 20mm spaces he can get wider tires and make it handle a lot better. There are hundreds of 50 trim turbos that tells us nothing about it. I have a Garrett gt28r70 dual ball bearing turbo with air to water intercooling on that exact car and a tial 50mm bov and it sounds way meaner than that thing.

    • @buriedunderwavs
      @buriedunderwavs 9 лет назад +4

      Th3lastsong this motor was made to replace the sr20 in the US and was used for 10 years in over a half dozen different cars with superb recognition. The man that one the road Atlanta last year was rocking the same motor. They offer a pretty wide torque curve and exceptional response to modification. if you new anything about the qr25 at all, you'd know that ignorance can kill this motor, and is probably why you dislike it. And if you eat throw-out bearings so much, it typically means you a shit driver.. but thats none of my business.

    among my journey(and for all to beware)...
    the car is fun, but if you are serious about it, check out 2j-racing, as they pretty much have everything you can and should mod on sentras,
    i sleeved the block, because i didnt trust the stock open deck design, plus i wanted more rigidity in the cylinder,
    the car is torqueeeeeee!!!!
    compared to civic, this is not exactly a cheap tuner to mod, it is still in development and infancy as far as tunning goes compared to subaru/honda/toyota etc.
    the engine has a very low RPM range because of the stroke, there is a video that explains how redline is calculated, watch it and see why this car only pushes 7k RPM
    8k is WAY to much for this car no matter how much you mod it.
    the 2.5 engine is not always the best solution, it weight a little more than the SR20 and the SR20 seems easier to boost from factory than the QR25.
    i have had to mod the the short block assembly in order t protect my performance parts.
