      A massive floor in her speech is this ... She is a Scottish Nationalist, her concerns are for Scotland alone. We in Labour care for and represent All Our Peoples and Nations within our Union, we have a sister party (S.D.L.P.) in the six counties as well ... We car for and represent All ... She only cares for Scotland.

      @@merseydave1 I genuinely don't think she does. But, she knows there's no changing Westminster, whereas with Scotland there is much more chance at making a meaningful change. And, she's had her own experiences with Labour politicians who treated her very badly, so why would she join Labour?

      @@merseydave1 Look at Scotlands voting history and you’ll quickly realise we’ve been voting to the left of England forever. Labour is ruined in Scotland, they are not the party of the people, they are neo-liberal and simply a lighter shade of Tory. Yes there are some great Labour politicians, Mhairi black even cites Tony Benn and Kier Hardie as her political idols. Scotland is done with voting for centre right “labour politicians” who offer us very little. We can start a new Labour Party when we’re independent. We’re on your side man, you’ve just not realised it yet.

      @@Shmingleshmangle You said "Labour is not the party of the people" wrong as Labour stands in every constituency in All of our Home Lands plus our sister party The S.D.L.P. stands in the North East Six Counties in Ireland, and The Irish Labour party stands on the other 26 Counties of Ireland ... that in itself proves you are wrong. Please tell me what is neo-liberal in setting up/supporting The N.H.S. Sure Start comprehensive education, The Open University, Pollytechinics, Nationalised Utilities (the massive list goes on) for all of our Home Lands
      You mention The Great Kier Hardie, the man who wanted Home Rule for Scotland ... Labour (Not the snp) put that into Reality in 1999 ! As for Tony Benn he wanted to LEAVE the E.U. for Decades ... So when Mhair Black mentions Unionist Labour Politicians that in itself Undermines her stance!
      Our Party The Labour Party was formulated from Trade Unions and socialist groups across All our Home Nations ... that is the fundamental core of what We Are its called Unity & Solidarity, Not Nationalism!.
      Let me tell you, I see you in Scotland as my brothers and sisters and the same in Wales and across England. I have no respect for The English Upper Class and I am a Full Blown Republican.
      I am a proud Socialist and a Trade Unionist ... My Unionism is a unity of peoples-home lands working together for Our Common Good.

      Always remember when it comes to any imperialist and expansionist country/power that ever used the word or term "great" to refer to the flag or country, has always involved much bloodshed. The only thing that can make a country truly great and change for the better is a united, critical thinking, well organised and well informed population willing to get off their asses to make their voices heard and so far I ain't seen much.

      Britain never has been great for the majority of the population nor will it ever be so in the future however Scotland is already proving to be a fairer country than it's neighbour south of the border.
      Scotland provides free prescriptions, no students pay tuition fees, the elderly receive free personal care, the NHS has shorter A&E waiting times & the crime figures are the lowest in more than 40yrs.
      The Scottish Government must run a balanced budget, hence it has no national debt. Scotland is a net exporter & would not have a balance of payments deficit.
      Scotland is being taken out of the EU against the majority's wishes to remain. (62/38) because of the majority vote in England & Wales to leave. Scotland needs immigration & free movement of people because it's demographic needs are greater than those elsewhere.
      The Brexit shambles & on-going austerity, along with Tory intransigence towards the Scottish National Party since then & along with a useless Labour Party in opposition at Westminster & down to their lowest position in Holyrood now means independence is becoming more inevitable by the day.
      Meantime, it is not in Scotland's interest for England & Wales to suffer economically & that is why the SNP are now supporting a second EU referendum in the hope that it will result in the UK remaining.

      Here is me thinking Independence was normal, well unless you can produce a list of Countries giving up their Independence. 140 Countries have left Westminster rule, did they all leave for hate reasons or simply believed they could govern themselves better. Countries leave Westminster rule, I have never heard of a Country applying to be ruled by the place.
      Scotland and England have been in the Union for 308 years, Westminster has had full control of Scotland's economy for 289 of those years. When Scotland was given her own parliament 17 years ago it had 6% devolved power, numerous years later this increased to 15% by the year 2017 we will have approx 25% if Scotland is in a mess that blame lies squarely at Westminster's door..
      Scotland is a country with an embarrassment of economic advantages that any small to medium-sized independent country would give their left arm for.
      Just look at similar-sized populations to Scotland
      Norway owns half the OIL in the North Sea, 30% of their GDP is reliant on OIL, when the OIL crashed our GDP dropped by 1% of course they have an OIL fund that Westminster refused for Scotland.
      Denmark would love to have a national drink that generated £120 of exports per second.
      38 bottles were shipped overseas each second.
      99 million cases (12 70cl bottles at 40% vol) were exported worldwide.
      Laid end to end they would stretch about 30,000kms - or about six times the distance between Edinburgh and New York.
      More than 10,000 are directly employed in the Scotch Whisky industry - many in economically deprived areas.
      Over 40,000 jobs across the UK are supported by the industry.
      Scotch Whisky accounts for around a quarter of UK food and drink exports.
      Scotch Whisky is sold in around 200 markets worldwide.
      Scotch Whisky sells three times its nearest rival whisky.
      Drinkers in the UK often choose to enjoy it with just a little water, but in Spain they mix it with cola. In Japan Scotch is enjoyed with lots of water and ice, and in China with cold green tea.
      More Scotch is sold in one month in France than Cognac in a year.
      Belgium would love to have such a tourist attraction as the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe, the world’s largest arts festival attracting 500,000 visitors and adding £261m to Scotland’s economy, never mind the beauty of wild Scotland or golf tourism.
      Ireland would kill to have Scotland’s online gaming industry which has grown over 600 per cent - GTA the world’s best-selling game is made in Scotland and industry experts claim the gaming sector could grow to be worth more to Scottish economy than oil ever was.
      Sweden would like to match Scotland educationally, Scotland according to the ONS states Scots are the most educated in Europe, we have 45% who have experienced university degrees and further education, Luxembourg, Finland and Ireland all fight for 2nd place with 40%
      Not forgetting we have 16% of world acclaimed Universities and they're Free
      Finland must be massively envious that Scotland possesses 25 per cent of the EU’s entire tidal and wave energy potential, a source of energy that doesn’t pollute and won’t run out.
      Scotland is rich in resources like Whisky, Renewables, Tourism, Financial Services, Food and Drink, Fishing, IT. Farming, Manufacturing, Creative Industries, Construction, Global Transport, Engineering, Medical Research, Oil and Gas.
      Scotland represents just 8.3% of the UK population. Remember that number 8.3%
      We have the following share of UK resources -
      32% Land area
      61% Sea area
      90% Surface fresh water
      65% North Sea natural gas production
      96.5% North Sea crude oil production
      47% Open cast coal production
      81% Coal reserves at sites not yet in production
      62% Timber production (green tonnes)
      46% Total forest area (hectares)
      92% Hydro electric production
      40% Wind, wave, solar production
      60% Fish Landings (total by Scottish vessels)
      55% Fish Landings (total from Scottish waters)
      30% Beef herd (breeding stock)
      20% Sheep herd (breeding flock)
      9% Dairy herd
      10% Pig herd
      15% Cereal holdings (hectares)
      20% potato holdings (hectares)
      All with 8.3% of the population!
      We also have a...
      17 billion pound construction industry
      13 billion food and drink industry
      10 billion business services industry
      9.3 billion chemical services industry
      A 9.3 billion tourism industry
      7 billion financial services industry
      5 billion aeroservice industry
      4.5 billion pound whisky exports industry
      3.1 billion pound life sciences industry
      Scotland still has 350 million pounds worth of textile exports
      Gold-- one working mine in production last month. Second mine or gold field, found by Aberdeen University, This field has been extended to 200 square miles in Aberdeenshire
      There are very few countries in the WORLD that rival Scotland's resources per head and in such rich diversity. We absolutely, unequivocally can be an extremely successful independent country.
      So the question should be, knowing some Countries survive on Tourism alone, why is Scotland doing so badly under Westminster rule and HOW QUICK CAN WE GET OUR INDEPENDENCE...

  • @monarchist1838
    @monarchist1838 7 лет назад +4

    Ack..Mhairi my local MP keeps complaining about Westminster and thinks everything wrong here in Scotland is somehow the fault of England. When she thought it was undemocratic about the Lords while the SNP could win 56 seats with just 4% of the overall vote.

    • @sicgc7658
      @sicgc7658 7 лет назад +4

      Well whilst over 3/4s of laws and regulations are dictated outwith Scotland and have little to literally no say over them, I think its fair to say that the faults do lie with Westminster. Whilst I also don't think you understand how the House of Commons works, nor how the SMPs are different from EMPs.

    • @monarchist1838
      @monarchist1838 7 лет назад +1

      To hell with you, you don't really understand anything do you?

    • @monarchist1838
      @monarchist1838 7 лет назад

      Do they really? Do you think its fair 54 SNP MPs can vote on English only matters? Do you understand a great deal of powers are now under the jurisdiction of the Scottish Parliament? Many of our non devolved powers reserved to Westminster affect the whole of the UK so are we really "dictated" by England?
      We have 59 MPs who have a great say on English matters, in the last 2 decades we have had a Scottish Prime Minister, two Chancellors, and a Justice secretary just to name a few.

    • @sicgc7658
      @sicgc7658 7 лет назад +6

      You seriously don't understand the House of Commons do you?
      Any and ALL English only matters can ONLY be voted on by English MPs. Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish MPs can sit in the debates, but they have no say over the laws and regulations proposed if they solely affect English matters. Even still, some UK matters and issues, which affect the ENTIRE UK are often treated the same as before, thus preventing Scottish, Northern Irish and Welsh voters from having a say, and having English representatives dictate their laws.
      Scottish, Northern Irish and Welsh MPs can only vote and debate on laws affecting the WHOLE UK or their OWN country - to which, sometimes English MPs have full say.
      Only around 25% of powers and laws and regulations that solely affect Scotland are actually dictated solely by the Scottish people, the bulk of this includes Education and Healthcare - around 90% of the laws and regulations that ONLY affect England are dictated SOLELY by English MPs.
      So again, please understand how the House of Commons works. Whilst if you're arguing the case of votes, yes I would agree that the system is moronic - hence why AMS is a much more accurate representation of voting and a representative collective body - But I do think its more unfair that whilst having only 36% of the vote, the Conservatives make up a majority, and Labour with 30% represent round about that. There are 59 constituents in Scotland that HAVE TO used FPTP; to which SNP won 56. If you don't like this, then be like the majority of the population that don't want FPTP - and if you think Scotland should have less constituencies, then please, by all means, neglect everything I've just explained to you about Scottish MPs.

    • @monarchist1838
      @monarchist1838 7 лет назад +1

      Come on the SNP have voted on many non Scottish matters, what about their vote on English Sunday trading laws and foxhunting. Angus Robertson even announced their policy for voting on English matters after the 2015 election

    Boy, she sounds nice, but the constant play on emotion and the hypocrisy of someone living with a devolved parliament as powerful as that of the Scottish talking about unfair representation is a bit much.
    If they want out, then they should leave, but let's not pretend that they don't have an outsized influence on British affairs, and let's not also act as if she and the SNP in general isn't entirely willing to sell out the poorest and most vulnerable in Scotland under the banner of "worker solidarity".

    • @iamshooketh9345
      @iamshooketh9345 4 года назад +3

      The Scottish Government control 25% of their own legislation, regulations etc, the rest is controlled by westminster. 50+ seats is not exactly a big majority in a house with over 500 and they CANNOT just leave because England wont let us have another ref. Independence is in favor 54% supporting.
      The SNP are “powerful” because they got the votes of the people. Because they speak for us and care about our beat interest. Just look at their policies - policies which Labor threw around like new ideas in the last election.
      They do things better.
      Westminster have shunned us and treated like second class citizens for too long. Freedom is coming.

    She has some very ideallistic views , nothing wrong with that but her and the SNP seem to have no actual way of doing things better.As soon as she starts on about Brexit and xenophobia you just think not this again.It's a tiny minority and she tarnishes even the Scottish leave voters which will get you nowhere.

    • @sicgc7658
      @sicgc7658 7 лет назад +2

      You do know the majority of leave supporters voted Conservative right? With Labour collapsing under Kezia and Jeremy, remainers have sided with SNP. Whilst she's literally stating fact, she isn't just making half-arsed claims, she's just repeating statistics, then explaining them in a way that people can fully understand, whilst illustrating how detrimental or beneficial certain things are. This has nothing to do with One's opinion, but truth backed by evidence.
