ManCrafting™ DIY YETI RAMBLER PERMANENT CUSTOMIZATION

- Опубликовано: 14 фев 2016
- Don't let your YETI grow legs. Personalize your YETI, RTIC, ORCA or other stainless tumblers. After purchasing a $40 YETI I was always concerned that I would leave it somewhere. With the popularity of the Cricut vinyl cutting printer there is a high percentage that you either have one or a good friend does. That and even an inexpensive Pot style media blaster is all you need to personalize your YETI. Watch this quick video to see how you can do this yourself. If you have even the slightest doubt about just how amazing the YETI or similar competitive stainless cups work, I can assure you it's the best cup I've ever owned. RTIC is a less expensive alternative and will soon be available in a 20oz size.

This is pretty cool. We just got yeti's and a cricut. I'll be making a couple of these. Thanks for the video.
it such professional work , good job !! . So I can not paint it unless you sandblast it first ?
Is it possible to engrave it with electrodes instead of sandblasting then painting ?
I have the same machine as you but I was wondering if you can tell me how do you cut multiple stickers at one time?
Love your videos! THANK YOU!! Have you experimented with other vinyl cutting machines? I’m in the market for one but would like to have one for powder coating tumblers and as a stencil for hand router cutting customer signs.
Jim Nottingham sorry. I’ve only owned a Cricut. I have a friend that owns a larger vinyl plotter that is able to cut over 30” wide and any length. That’s probably what I’d get if I needed something better. Especially for something like sign work. amzn.to/2BWm7zk
Great work well done👍👍
Thanks! Sorry I missed this earlier.
do you spray your decals with anything after putting them on the cups? i put one decal on my sons and it seems like little places raise up
Paula Bowen we use a low temp powder coating clear coat. We try to avoid vinyl though unless we know the product.
Can I use spray paint instead of etching? If so what kind would you recommend?
Will Addison check out my Buddy Ryan's Channel. He does a lot of spray paint customization. Ryan Fenters.
does the sand not eat away the decal that your using as a stencil?
BucketOfFun1 eventually. The metal goes first though. You have to move the nozzle around so it doesn't heat up the vinyl and make it soft.
What type/size of media blaster are you using?
Suzie Hellard it’s just a cabinet Media Balster. amzn.to/2E4qVmN I use 70 grit aluminum oxide.
Wow. Like tattoos for cups!
Exactly.
Those look amazing! What PSI do you spray at for this?
thegoodone I was generally hitting them around 80 psi. Just be sure to move around a lot so the vinyl doesn’t heat up and the glue releases.
what type of vinyl do you use ?
I hate that I missed these comments. Any vinyl made by Cricut. The Rose used to work best.
what kinda machine did you use for that or whats it called?thanx
I'm using a Cricut Explore Air. If your a hobbyist, it does everything you need and the interface is intuitive. If you are doing it full time you may want to look at something from US Cutter.
Hello, after applying the sand, apply black paint?
Arq. Daniel Jacques nope. That’s just the color that’s left after blasting with 70 grit Aluminum Oxide.
ManCraftingTM gracias
Great work and awesome video! What kind of media do you use for the blasting part? I like how dark it turns out, it really stands out. I worry that blasting it wouldn't make it very contrast from the non blasted stainless steel areas.
I'm using aluminum oxide 70 Grit. It does give a darker image than glass or other media.
+bugmanchad Sweet thank you sir!
what do you use in the sand blaster to do this
Jill Triplett 70 Grit Aluminum Oxide.
what kind of tape to you mask it off with
Jill Triplett we use this. amzn.to/2zwfSjW just make sure you move the nozzle a lot. Don’t stay on the same spot too long. Heat builds up if you do and the vinyl gets soft.
Where can I get these machines I am from Mexicali B.C México
Sorry I missed this. Do you use Amazon?
What vinyl cutter machine is that?
Stratton Foster this one Circuit Explore Air 2 amzn.to/2cHnqJG
How will this hold up washing etc
I still have the very first tumbler I ever blasted and it looks great. I’d be happy to post a short on it later today.

What type of vinyl are you cutting out?
farmNwife for media blasting we use Oracal 651 now. Oracle 651 Vinyl Starter Pack amzn.to/2dyexTU
Thank you.
What do you machine do you use to sandblast?
I bought it off Craig's List, but Northern Tools, Tractor Supply, Harbor Freight and Eastwood all have similar cabinets.
How much do the blasters typically run
And would a 100 PSI air compressor be enough? Or do you recommend something larger?
Suzie Hellard good question. It’s not just PSI. You need volume. I started with a pancake. It would cycle on continuously and I’d have to wait. Then I bought a 20 gallon. That was a lot better, but even bigger would be ideal. That said, I might prefer this amzn.to/2CkndoK it much quieter than what I have. Makes the process much less noisy which is great. Also has more horsepower than my 20 gal.
not sure if you know of or have one around you but harbor freight sells some pretty good air compressors i know some things there arent so good but their air compressors are not half bad my dad owned a 3 gal oiless 90 psi from there for at least 5 year and it still works just fine and we decided to get a 20 or 21 gallon oiled at 125 psi and i works great one down side its fairly loud but is quiet if its in a garage with the door closed and your working outside or if its in a separate room and you have a set of pipes running into your shop if that's not an option your best bet is earplugs or a quieter compressor :)
ManCraftingTM they do make bigger compressers they make 80's i think they make 100's too and you can also attach seperate tanks to the compressers to make the volume bigger say if you have an old 20 you could make your 60 gallon compressor an 80
What paint did you use for this?
Charlene Stephens I didn’t use any paint. Just a vinyl mask and then sand blasted. I do have other videos where I powdercoat using a bunch of different powders. Check them out. Super durable and they look amazing.
Ok, I will just have to watch then! This looks very cool. I really like how it turned out!
how much to make a decal
Sorry I never saw this.
Was doing this 20 years ago
john brountas thanks for letting me know.
holy friggen Loud distorted music
chaotic/Silence thanks for watching.
chaotic/Silence I notice it every time I come back to answer a question or comment. 😊 nothing I can do, but make better videos moving forward.
If you still have the video, you could make this one unlisted, then adjust your audio and re-upload. That way you don't lose your view count. It's a great video, just the audio is a little jarring. You can also download it from RUclips, then delete the audio in your favorite video editor and add the music back in at a regular level.
RIP Headphones........and my beloved ear drums.
Yea, it's bad. I wish I could remove the sound at just the first few seconds without taking the video down... If it becomes possible I'll do it.
Why did you put a turd on your mug?
Requested.
THUMBS DOWN FOR THE OPENING AND VOLUME
Skirmisher thanks. I know it’s awful. Nothing I can do about it and I’m dang sure not taking it down. Way too many views. That said, I hear you. I edited this on my phone and seriously it sounded nothing like this. Since this video I’ve done 50 videos without sound issues. I wish there was a way to fix just the beginning. Maybe someday RUclips will have a fix. If I figure out a way, or if you do, let me know. Please accept my sincerest apologies and check out some of my other videos.
FYI. I went back and listened to this in its entirety. I realized that there was no voiceover and decided to replace the entire track. I only had one option that was long enough. Let me know what you think.
Well this was a big "FU" to headphone users
Sorry. I hate that it starts that way. I actually use headphones to edit now. I would take it down and re edit it, but it's got too many views. Thanks for checking it out in spite of it's absolutely horrible start. I am definitely conscious of these things now.
@@ManCrafting first ever youtuber to apologize.... that means alot, thank you.
Subbed, other videos look interesting
George Suprenant thanks. I hope you find some interesting content.
