In defense of cousin eddy: I interpreted his entrance as not being planned by calypso. After you've beaten the stage he drives in from outside, with a bunch of extra guys, clearly breaking any rules the contest may have had. I always interpreted his boss entrance, and his career ending, as meaning that calypso did not plan for eddie to be a boss in the tournament. eddie just forces his way in as a hazard in other peoples runs of the contest, and in his own we see he's not invited. I personally liked the idea of some moron who wasnt invited coming in to wreck stuff.
That's exactly how Cousin Eddy's ending goes, Calypso berating him for crashing the tournament.
So wait is he related to Calypso or not

I never looked at the final bosses as someone appointed by Calypso. They're just the strongest people in the tournament, so naturally they outlive everyone else, thus they would be the last people you'd have to fight.
If Piecemeal and Mime both have special weapons that copy the nearest combatant, then what happens if they copy each other?

Primeval Deserved so much better. I legit still consider him as one of the BEST bosses in TM history. Would love to know more of his Lore one day

Agreed on Primevil, Cousin Eddie, and Piecemeal being missed opportunities. Especially on Primevil, man was done dirty as just being a one-off and nothing basically ever comes up regarding him ever again. Would've loved to have seen him in TM 2012.
Orbital really could've become a staple of the series even if he was pretty much Crimson Fury mixed with Two-Face, his car and special are cool and his wish to become normal again is sympathetic
Still crazy that Minion is such a core component of the series yet he hasnt been in a TM game since early 2001.
I see Minion as Other Fighting Game Franchise view Heihachi, B. Mison, or Geese.
I will always remember how terrifying and menacing fighting Primeval felt, and I rly dislike how big of a wuss they made calypso in every other game after TM2 where IMO he was his best version.
Black could've been a good rival to Minion.... Wasted potential
I wish Refs were more fleshed out in TM series. Or, rather, entire concept of the world reacting to the Calypso's tournament. In all other games excluding the first one there is no one else on the location except you and the enemies. Where is the police and the army? Where are the lynch mobs? It's interesting to compare TM with, say, Carmageddon, where police uses heavily armored monster trucks and, eventually, fields the Suppressor to hunt you down.

Primeval would make for a good "boss" in the TV show
You mention at the end that Primeval is stuck in 989 Land, but honestly I think that they aren't against pulling from the 989 games at all, seeing as numerous characters make appearances in the TV show and some play relatively significant roles. Seeing Primeval take another spin around the block and show up as either a righthand demon to Calypso or a rival to Black or possibly Minion could be cool to see for the essentially blank slate character that he currently is.
I would also throw Quatro in the mix of failed TM characters as despite his incredibly unique appearance and vehicle he was never brought back or fleshed out at all. They could have even tied it back to the box from TM1 that Crimson Fury and Warthog were competing for that apparently revealed the existence of aliens, and that Quatro was the alien recorded on the flight box
I think primeval was supposed to be like piecemeal with everyones special being fired out at random once per special use.
It's a shame that the lego-esque hunt wasnt implemented for Primeval. It would have been a feature perfect for that game.
For TM3 Primeval, I think he would have been compared to TM2 ending.
Totally agree with the idea of Cousin Eddy being a random encounter. Also maybe an optional final boss after finishing the game with him.

They also couldve taken a page from Rogue Trip in the case of Cousin Eddy since the Goliath boss in that game randomly shows up in the DC level or Area 51. It would make much more sense since Eddy is an uninvited character and having show up in the game randomly would have changed the gameplay and made it more interesting.
Piecemeal probably the reference of Primeval...
I think a giant RC Car Minion tank in Small Brawl would've been so dope.
We seriously needed more Twisted Metal(not live service hopefuly), it deserve to be back. Even if it didn't, I wish other games like Wreckfest and Gas Guzzlers had characters and plot too in the sequels.
They probably will with the TV show doing well.
I think revisiting the crazy ambition that the cancelled Twisted Metal Harbour City had where it was open world in a sense where you are able to just drive to the next area after clearing out the foes is a good start.
Heck throw in some random encounters as proposed by our guy here on Cousin Eddie on top of secret boss enounters ala Mortal Kombat or something like that where you have to do very specific actions to trigger the secret boss. Man there's so much potential in a new Twisted Metal man.
Sweet Tooth has Calypso's powers in 4, it's possible he just cant actually be killed.
The view of playing as Primeval looks badass. I never really got a good look at him or his vehicle.
Tm4 sweet tooth does not drive. Pretty sure its canonical the minions drive the vehicle.

9:30 You really want Cousin Eddy to have been like the Pursuer from Dark Souls 2? People would've (including yourself) hated it the same way they hated The Pursuer boss fights.
Honestly with how easy Twisted Metal Head On is, it would be a nice change of pace. Fitting for the character as well.

If Roadkill was in Small Brawl, then Piecemeal couldve been a Dark Tooth version of that character
this might be a lazy concept of a game idea but maybe they should put out a twisted metal all stars which is just a battle mood of all cars from twisted metal 1 to black and see if people are still interested in twisted metal
Honestly I still think about how interesting of a character Black was from twisted metal Black. I wish his narrative would have been expanded on.
About Cousin Eddy appearing at any battleground randomly, Rogue Trip Vacation 2012 kind of did that with Goliath appearing in either The Maul or Area 51, even before defeating all the regular enemies
In the original production for Twisted Metal Minion was supposed to be a secret government AI controlled tank. That's why he was the winner of the tournament before. It was supposed to be one of those "it's experimental so it's unbeatable" and wasn't really until the second game that they were like well let's just say he was a demon that was imprisoned by Calypso. Also I'd like to add that using a Gameshark to play as Primevil was ridiculously mean because of how overpowered he is lol
Twisted metal hopefully gets a new game, it has a back catalog of so many vehicles that there isn't even a need to make new ones. The only reason I can think to put some arbitrary limit on the characters is game play niches. I really think they should have new special moves with gimmicks like time freeze or something like that.
i think of the bosses of the game as calypso trying to stop you from winning the contest because youre a powerfull driver and he wants you to die so devil can get your soul
The Funny part about Cousin Eddy as a boss and playable character, of all the stupid characters in fiction Calypso could have just made his wish backfire to directly kill him off right there, but nope Calypso kinda acted like Vince McMahon for the moment and we're left in a cliffhanger seemingly the stupid one winning.
TM1 Minion is just another contestant, he's not working for Calypso. He just decided to enter his 2nd tournament after winning last year - and he's the final boss 'cause you just happen to meet him in the final round. TM1 Calypso actually granted people's wishes with no strings attached (apart from Outlaw, who tried to screw Calypso over with his wish), so Minion returned 'cause he wanted another wish granted - like Hammerhead's TM1 ending claims he plans to enter next year's tournament to get another wish granted.
Minion and Dark Tooth were NOT "put as bosses" by Calypso. Minion is just another contestant, trying to beat Calypso to regain his stolen powers from Calypso. Dark Tooth is either another contestant or he just barged into the tournament uninvited after you killed Sweet Tooth. Nothing in the game suggests either Minion nor Dark Tooth actually work for Calypso. The Yellowjacket's "drive forever" ending is NOT his official TM1 ending, as that only happened in his scrapped FMV ending, which was never part of the official TM1 release.
Calypso DIDN'T make Cousin Eddy a boss - Eddy's a boss 'cause he literally barged into the tournament uninvited and attacked you. He has *nothing* to do with Calypso.
Iirc, TM3's bosses are the only ones who are implied to work for Calypso. Most bosses in all other games are just other contestants in the tournament (with Sweet Tooth in TM4, Warhawk in TM:B and Cousin Eddy in TM:HO being the exceptions).

It makes sense that Minion is a boss if he won the previous tournament.
Maybe calypso didnt know cousin eddy was innthe tournament? He could just be a physco murder. Thats a way too look at it.
That's basically what happened, Calypso berates Eddy for crashing the tournament in his ending.
TM4 should have made the clown henchmen as the drivers of the super bosses, or at least give the car bios. Not only unlockables.
Oh and the create car, make 3 generic endings that play randomly so I should be more encouraged to repeat the tournament
Aluna w wasn’t invited to street fighter 2 and he was the final boss if criteria is met.
Atleast Head-On made the 2 Personas of Marcus Kane/Sweet Tooth THE Final Boss.
I wonder why isn't Calypso himself the Final Boss?
There are 2 ways in that Uncle makes sense as a boss:
He eighter wasn't invited and decided to force his way in. He being a boss is not necessarly something Calypso planned. Can be just Uncle deciding to attack you, even if he isn't in the tournament oficially.
Or he is not a contestant in the tournament, but Calypso thought she would be an interesting challenging, so he orders you to go kill this guy that isn't even playing.

You mean majority of the new characters 909 studios made? Cause I know single Trac made the most interesting characters within 1, 2 and since they had input with black and head on it's no wonder why majority of the newer characters within those games works well unlike the ones from tm3 and 4 that were just whacky and not so serious.
I also believe development for tm 3 was rushed which explains why darkside and primeval were locked and not much about them is mentioned in the game aside the manual. Nonetheless tm 3 and 4 are non canon. Only tm 1, 2 and head on are the games trilogy
Everyone shits on small brawl but honestly it was an awesome game, I was totally expecting it to be for kids, seeing the artwork and stuff, so I wasn't upset.

I think it's becausr his ending is the only one referenced in 2: in Outlaw 2's ending Jamie is trying to win the tournament to get her brother back from outer space.
