    Big thanks for interview with devs of TM3 and especially with TM4 (TM4 is my favorite Twisted Metal game 😍). Devs have answer why Sweet Tooth don't have voice in TM4?)
    p.s: I'm always think about physics in TM4 and that feels like this game can have additional mechanics for tricks like in GTA. TM3 really have alot of cons but also have one of the best soundtrack in series.
    I like TM4 story because in this game players get answers for some interesting questions about Calypso and his power. Sweet Tooth's flaming hair also real have sense in TM4.
    Cons of TM4 is no Twister, bad optimization for 4P mode and would be cool if car editor can be a more rich. In gameplay part game is perfect, nice FX, great OST, nice graphics and more completed energy system. Only difficulty is not too high (but thats already fixed in mod).

      Im in that same boat. I played TM3 first was able to beat it multiple times. Im thinking I also enjoyed it because I enjoyed the rallycross titles and physics they hadbased it off of? I later recieved a long box copy of Twisted Metal 2 (my brother later traded it in at a gamestore like a dummy) but I liked that as well. But TM3 and 4 have that nostalgia. As well as a viper(spectre) and civic ( pizza boy)😂😂😂😂

      Still gotta disagree. While I had fun with my cousin introducing me to this game. Twisted metal 1 and 2 will always be my go to next to Black. Tm 3 lacked a lot of detail that was missing that only the first 2 games had. Besides the game was rushed. Club kid is definitely one of the reasons why I even go back to tm3. The level design is so boring and whoever picked the soundtrack, boy were they obsessed with Pitchshifter, alot...... They didn't even bother making original tracks for the levels. Tm 4 had a better variety of music compared to 3. Even to the level design.

      I've always enjoyed TM3, I never listened to the backlash it got. I rented it a few times, had a friend copy the disc to a red Memorex Cool Colors CD-R, and I still have it today. I mastered the PS1 swap trick, but after awhile I got a Gold Finger cheat cartridge, that went into the port on the back. Besides that, and the music not working (I always blasted my own music while playing), I had a very good time with TM3. :)

      @D3K018 Месяц назад

      Same here, I don't really know why tho, maybe it's because it was my first Twisted Metal game and I used to play it with my cousin and my friends, IMO the character designs and weapons were the most iconic of all ps1 games and I just had a blast with it, I didn't mind the floaty physics that much because the fun I was having pretty much made me not even notice that... I always found TM1 & 2 very rough on the edges (specially the ramming damage & physics, sometimes it was absurd), I enjoyed TM2 but not nearly as much as TM3, the locations and maps were way more iconic in TM2 but besides that I preferred everything else in TM3 (and I never got to play TM4 until a few years ago, which fixed many of the issues of the 3rd game but it's not as iconic IMO)...

    25:11 - I can confirm with some experimentation that that is exactly how the AI works in TM1 and TM2. They rely on the player being within an arc of the front or rear of their vehicles.
    The only reason the rolling demo in TM2 appears to have AI cars attacking one another is because the AI are being staged with a motionless player target hidden off-camera and tucked away close enough for the AI to fire blindly.

    I grew up playing TM3 & 4 and loved them then, still play them now. The hate they get is largely performative as TM1 & TM2's flaws are now well-known amongst the community, and there's a lot of cognitive dissonance about it lol.

    It looks like some sequels of that time were screwed because of the differences between the developers and the Big ones, the same happened to Diablo, Diablo I and II were made by Blizzard, but after differences Diablo III was made by a totally different team.
    So now we know why TM 3 is so different and looks more like Vigilante 8 than to originals Twisted Metal.

    • @sherrdreamz7232
      @sherrdreamz7232 Месяц назад

      @@JimBuckI never played rally cross which was the origin of the TM 3 physics engine but one question I have always had was, in what way was the functionality of the engine altered to accommodate a car combat style game?
      Was that a challenge early on in development in a way that kind of hampered your teams gradual vision of the game as it was finally coming together?
      I've found things like this interesting, as often times the physics engine allocated can really be a Boon or Bane to certain projects.
      One recent example is Ubisofts decision to give the F2P shooter XDefiant an engine that was specifically made for an MMORPG which has been a huge ongoing challenge for the team since release.

    I had already known about tm but my cousin had tm 3 when it came out and we would play co op. Playing it as a kid it felt fun but playing it as a adult. The level design was pretty bland. I loved the car design but the physics felt so weird compared to tm2 and 1. They removed a lot of small details such as the cars being on fire. Tm 1 the cars would actually stay, while in tm 2 the cars would explode without disappearing if you ram them or if you use freeze and machine guns. The cars then explode after a while giving the effect the cars on fire still. Tm 3 and 4 was missing this. Its still my second least favorite while Brawl is my least favorite.

      Lol TM4 has more faster and dynamic gameplay then V8. Flying power-up make your car clunky in V8, gravity is weird (like in TM:SB), cars also turning on the place like they stands on the ice.
