Shadow! TM2 lol my personal fav overall anyways. these lists will always be contested by people, because of how they feel about the levels, & their play styles.
This franchise has such a niche audience nowadays, given that we haven't gotten a new entry in over a decade, so thanks a bunch for giving this series the attention it deserves.
It's sad to read this. The first game was seen as something of a Playstation system-seller and everyone was talking about the sequel, it was the hottest thing around for a while. With Small Brawl, the PSP game (and the PS2 port of it) it seemed like the series was thriving with all kinds of side games and system releases. I guess the ill-advised PS3 game sort of killed everything.
@@MiketheratguyMultimedia The PS3 game seemed fine, but the servers for multi-player were a joke. I've had better luck at slot machines than I ever did trying to find a match. The few I got into were great, especially since I had a friend to coordinate with. It was just that >90% of the time I'd just get a connection error whenever I tried to play.
@@Mirthful_Midori Was it always like that even right after launch? I never played the PS3 game because everyone was saying that it just didn't feel like Twisted Metal. I know that I was really taken aback by the fact that they removed most of the characters.
@@MiketheratguyMultimedia The single player was weird, since you only had three characters. It's been too long since I played, but I would've sworn you could at least change vehicles. The multiplayer was the best part, when it worked. Unfortunately, that was virtually never. Multiplayer had a really good selection of vehicles.
@@Mirthful_Midori I think you're right, my memory is reading that you could switch vehicles. In that way I suppose gameplay diversity was addressed, which to be fair IS more important than having many unique characters behind the wheel. I just remember wondering why they got rid of what was, to me at least, one of the most compelling aspects of any Twisted Metal games - the crazy characters and their lore.
Good video, happily surprised to see Small Brawl levels making it to #3. Piecemeal was an incomplete boss, we ran out of time to finish him or the level as designed. This is evident by the fact he can't use Sweet tooth's special.
To add a cherry on top of Paris in TM2, I always liked the addition of the emergency siren to the soundtrack. It conjures images to my mind of somewhere in the distance, another group of Twisted Metal contestants just caused a horrendous accident of some kind. The only indication on your end being the distant, echoing sirens of the Paris police and EMTs rushing to the scene. Honestly, gives me chills as much as it rocks my socks.
I would love to see a vehicle ranking, basing it on their stats, specials, and how well their characters fit their vehicles and the game they're in. Always great to see new content from you though, I'd be happy with anything!
I will never get tired of hearing about Twisted Metal. I grew up with it. It was part of my childhood and it's something I hold very near and dear to me. To hear it still gets talked about makes me smile. I miss Twisted metal so much. I didn't know this but the creator of Twisted Metal, David Jaffe is the creator of God of War. I wish Sony would bring back twisted metal.
Agree. Or a sequel to Small Brawl with all the original cut content that was intended. A sequel to Head On would be nice too. Have Roadkill win the tournament and escape from the nightmare, back into a normal life. It'd be a great way to end off the franchise. Then they can focus on doing remasters or something.
@@wallaceshawn-zk8iw Dave's too woke for me. I respect you're preference if you truly like him, but I feel Scott Campbell's team (the guys behind Head On, Small Brawl and Cars vs. Bosses) would do a better job of handling a new TM game. Always loved Thrills and Spills in Twisted Metal 2012, so much to explore and destroy!! You can wreck the Ferris wheel much like the suburbs in Twisted Metal Black
I think what made Amazon Fire Walk a perfect level was that it had all the elements of what a good twisted metal level and blended it in a way that feels like the benchmark of what twisted metal levels should do. Space that isn't too big, the right amount of weapon drops and opponents, good secrets sprinkled around, a gimmick that enhances the level, and, if you want to put a boss in it, a boss that puts your skills to the test without it being frustrating.
But it's horrible! The lava part giving damage over time, the overexposed colors burning your eyes out, the horrible OP boss fight where you run out of lives, it's easily the absolutely most hated level to play by anyone I know... what's wrong with you people? XD
Twisted metal and jet moto were two of my most played games as a kid! I definitely remember that level on jet Moto but never knew it was on twisted metal

So, on the Sweet Tooth boss fight from Twisted Metal 4- what killed him was actually two of Sweet Tooth’s Special attack. The blue clown face has that tether that hold you in place while the green one hits you with power or fire rockets and the red flamethrowers you. Then in the order they show up, they explode. You can see in the footage, the blue face blows up first. But less than a second later Sweet Tooth releases a second special. Finishing the player. But you can counter it some what with two moves. The less recommended is throwing up your shield. The special attack last long than the shield does but I believe you can wait out the blue face tether and boost away once it blows. The second and preferred method is to teleport away. The location you teleport to is random but it’s always a good distance away from where you were. The special attack will still follow you so you’ll need to drive away but you shouldn’t be caught by the same special attack twice. But I believe Sweet Tooth spawns in with two ready to go. My person strategy for beating him- I like to toy with by boss kills when I can. Using remote bomb on Neon City after the helicopter ride. So when Moon Buggy (boss name I believe) takes the same ride, I blow him up just as he lands and knocks him down to the street before I set up a second and do it again. For Sweet Tooth, in the haunted mansion part, there a long tunnel the leads to the roller coaster. With proximity mine you can lay two right on top of each other and safely drive before they arm and blow you up instead (I believe you can lay three and teleport away as well but the timing is much tighter). But in that hall way I lay three groups of two mines each, each far enough away so the first group can chain explode the next in line. At the end of the hall way before the coaster tracks, I lay a remote bomb and a freezing bomb. Then I pull off to the side and wait. The path finding will drive him straight into the proximity mine one right after the other, when he gets to the remote mine I detonate sending him back into the hallway a bit, and then once in range, I trigger the freezing bomb. From the I unload with the machine gun, what ever weapon I think might hurt him the most at the time, and just before he un freezes, I use the heavy turbo attack.
Love this. The TM series growing up was the most fun I ever had playing a video game. Im sure you made the connection between Amazonia 3000 BC in TM4 and TM2. The platform you teleport to has the same sweet tooth head carved into the stone… thats an interesting easter egg that I think strengthens the argument of calypso being an inter dimensional being. Cant wait to see more!
I was watching this video again and a memory came flashing back at me. I thought that i played Twisted Metal when i was younger on the N64 but it turns out it was a game called Vigilante 8, this means that the first Twisted Metal game i played was Twisted Metal Black.
Love all these twisted metal videos, you could try making some content on vigilante 8 maybe, for me these 2 series always go together(i played these 2 A LOT on my old ps1 lol)
Actually, speaking of "weird music associations," I got one for ya that might take the cake. I was playing the very first Dead Space with a buddy of mine. And it got to the part where you're in the hospital, the lights go out, and the necromorphs swarm you. The baddies start rushing me, I pull out the flamethrower, start roasting some space-zombies, and start singing "I'm a Love Machine" by The Miracles. In my half-drunken state, I actually meant to sing "Disco Inferno" for obvious reasons. But I accidentally picked the wrong song and just kinda rolled with it. I even bobbed the camera to me singing the song. After the scene ends and the necromorphs are all dead and the lights go back on, my buddy slowly turns to me with a half-terrified, half-laughing and just says. "You're fucking insane" and we both laugh it off. It was totally priceless. Now whenever I play or see Dead Space, it's very hard not to think of that song. Which yeah, that's gotta be one of the weirder songs you could associate with the series, but there ya go. Anyways, great channel. Keep up the good work. Cheers!
When I first played Twisted Metal Black, Abandoned Skyscrapers stressed me out SO MUCH. It was a terrifying level and other than warhawk, that was the hardest one, bar none. It was immaculate
Dude the whole point of Twisted Metal 4s levels was to provide you a challenge in fighting in different ways. For starters, you have a map. It isn't like its hard to find enemies. In minions maze, its supposed to be more trench warfare unless you abuse the remote shield jumps and know how to navigate with the turbo. If you know how TM4 is meant to be played, its a whole other beast. People just don't casually go from a grounded game to having aerial mobility(long as you have turbo). Even with 3 enemies,I can get to them and kill them when the match starts in 20 seconds at most. Maybe it wasn't the best choice to make the game have newer maneuvering mechanics(kinda like when CoD went to Advanced Warfare), but all you have to do is practice. You can do some sick things and get the best kills I have ever seen in a Twisted Metal game. Twisted Metal 4 is a damn good game. Others are entitled to there opinion as well, but most opinions are based on a lack of understanding. The maps, legendary to say the least
Look, all im saying is like how could you put old piece of literal garbage Holland or Moscow ABOVE actual levels? Like I liked TM2 other than the trash AI spam and those two levels, but I'm not gonna put those garbage levels above levels that aren't a pancake or toilet bowl with little to nothing in them. Cmon, man. There not even fun at that point
Germany. It's 2006, we are visiting family and my cousin calls me into his room because he borrowed a game from his older friend. After convincing our parents to let me spend the weekend with them, we locked ourselves in the room with food and drink and started playing the first level. No intro, no movies, no texts in the loading screen. After about 1.5 days we somehow managed to finish all 8 levels. We were disappointed. What a lousy game. Somehow we were scared at every level, as well as the oppressive feeling as if something would happen while we were playing but we just don't get it and the whole game is actually something much bigger than it should be. Now put yourselves in the position of a 23 year old who has dealt with the game very deeply through RUclips videos and the general series and only learned through the Internet that the whole story was removed from the game that otherwise the game would not be allowed in Germany. I can't believe to this day that he and I were right about our gut feelings and knew there was something about this game.
55:19 ... what. No. No, there isn't. No, I didn't fucking struggle with that boss having only three lives and fucking fighting like the entirety of the cast for no reason. That didn't happen. No fucking way, I'm a goddamn dumbass.
Keep em coming man! lovin all these Twisted Metal videos. Introducing my boy to the game now that he's old enouf. Not Twisted Metal Black yet though, or Twisted Metal 2012.
Small brawl was, and still is my favorite twisted metal game. Many hours spent around the ps1 with my brother and cousin. Days i would give anything to go back to
Always interesting to see how someone else sees the levels. I do remember, one time while playing Twisted Metal 3, during Calypso's Blimp, I managed to get every enemy killed without destroying the generators, which I think was managed to mostly make them fall into the pit in rapid succession, causing me to have to deal with EVERY ENEMY including Primeval, and it was just the most chaotic experience I had on that level.
this is the first time ive seen that Jet Moto map my mind is blown and i know my kid self would have had told just about everybody because i had the first game and had so much fun playing Jet Moto great contentas always im always keeping an eye on that bell and you community posts for the next upload
I enjoyed the video, I hope you do one God of War weapons; Like how fun they are to use, implication the story how goofy or cool they look. I think it be a fun little video
One of my favorite things about your worst to best lists is how they go from shitting on things (entertaining) to praising and explaining great things (also entertaining). Love it, man!
I guess the next ranking video would be best drivers. Of course, Needles would probably be number one, but it would be interesting to hear your takes on all the one-off characters and what could be done to improve them
I just found your channel and I gotta say, apart from your insightful inspection on the TM series, I absolutely love and appreciate your connection with Iron Maiden (the band). They're also my favorite group of all time, seen them 4x. Love to see them mentioned multiple times on your channel!
Tbh Always preferred long battles on big maps than short battles on small maps, more to explore is always appreciated. Great vid 👍 I picked snowy roads every time 😅
so I'm not the only one who likes to be a gremlin on Meat your Maker. Me personally, I used to LOVE throwing people into the grinder with Mr.Slam's Special.
For me, finding out that Iron Maiden is Bacon's favorite band of all time was the single best part of the video. You see, they are also my favorite band of all time.

1:21:01 ABANDONED SKYSCRAPERS (TM:B): This level is a nice callback to TM1 and TM2's rooftop levels and it's hard for me to place which one I like the best. 1:22:40 (AMAZONIA, TM2): Is it the best level in the series? Ehh...no. I think I'd still place TM2's Hong Kong Crunch at the top followed by TM:B's Suburbia, TM4's Neon City, TM:Lost's Dark Carnival and Minion's Maze above it for various reasons. That said, it's a toss-up between whether Antarctica or New York makes my #2 spot for TM2's levels with Hong Kong Crunch at the top. Similar to Antarctica, TM2 Amazonia is a level where you can win without firing a single shot just by driving around long enough and avoiding combat as the A.I. will slowly melt itself to death in the lava chasing after you. This is good because it offers the faster vehicles in the game an out against Minion, who, as mentioned, is not messing around. He will spam his OP-AF Special attack at you constantly and usually follow up with his tank's unique crushing-ram attack. An utter menace and a worthy opponent; Minion absolutely was at the top of his game in TM2. My final "hot take" (puns, hurr) on Amazonia: Fire Walk I think Amazonia 3000 BC in TM4 is a narrowly better level, but for one peculiar reason: the movement tech potential. See, TM4 has this thing where you can move forward horizontally in the air while turbo-boosting, and you can change which way your car is pointing while airborne IF you initiate a jump via the ability, a jump pad, or a steep enough incline to bypass the momentum check. This gives the player a TREMENDOUS degree of control over their vehicle that even TM2 doesn't offer, and one reason among many why I find TM4 to be wrongly maligned, at least from a gameplay mechanics standpoint. (the aethetics and awful character design on the whole? Yeah, no argument there. Trash Man, Goggle Eyes, Pizza Boy and Drag Queen made me lose brain cells playing their endings.)
Love these Twisted Metal rankings vids! That being said, gotta hard disagree on placing Assault on Cyburbia from TM1 and Transylvania from Head On so low. They're both top favorite levels for me in the series, so seeing that stung a bit and surprised me. Small Brawl getting several high ranks also surprised me, as it's one of my least favorite games. And TM2 Moscow ranking so high when that level is such a pain so early in that game, Holland ranking high, and Drive-In Theater over Snowy Roads in Black all threw me off. Otherwise, a respectable list overall and always fun to see others' opinions! My fave games in the series are TM 1, 2, Black, and Head On.
Might as well rank every twisted metal character/vehicle from worst to best
Maybe focus on the vehicles
More content do both people then cars

The platform you teleport to has the same sweet tooth head carved into the stone… thats an interesting easter egg that I think strengthens the argument of calypso being an inter dimensional being. Cant wait to see more!
I was watching this video again and a memory came flashing back at me. I thought that i played Twisted Metal when i was younger on the N64 but it turns out it was a game called Vigilante 8, this means that the first Twisted Metal game i played was Twisted Metal Black.
I think at least construction yard gets a +3 on it's placing just for the dragula remix. That can't be slept on and the song is a bop.
A Twisted Metal wish list! What to add, characters, level designs, endings. Basically what do you want if you could do whatever you like!
Love all these twisted metal videos, you could try making some content on vigilante 8 maybe, for me these 2 series always go together(i played these 2 A LOT on my old ps1 lol)
Check Real Down Under for lots of V8 content!
Cheers!
Awesome video, I love Twisted Metal content. Great channel.
wasn't expecting to hear TISM get a shout out in this video but that was neat!
While it would be a copyright nightmare, ranking stage music would be fun.
I remember putting in a code for unlimited ricochets as a kid. That made DC a very funny level.
I appreciate that quote from Iron Maiden's "The Mercenary," which fittingly is one of my favorite albums by them!
When I first played Twisted Metal Black, Abandoned Skyscrapers stressed me out SO MUCH. It was a terrifying level and other than warhawk, that was the hardest one, bar none. It was immaculate
Would like to see your ranking of the 18 Pokemon types and 12 TemTem typings
I'm so glad someone is giving small brawl it's due. Game has amazing game play and levels and just constantly gets shat upon.
This was thorough ranking video. I prefer Snowy Roads over Drive-In, but I love both.
who needs easter when i have a new twisted metal video from tbp
My strategy when i was a kid for TM4 Sweet tooth was to either hug the roller coaster and out run his special, or use the Teleport cheat to escape it.
The moment you mentioned bosses affecting the ranking I knew exactly what #1 was going to be.
55:19
... what.
1:13:49 :) Nice "The Mercenary" reference. Good to see lesser-known Maiden songs getting some love!
Small brawl was, and still is my favorite twisted metal game. Many hours spent around the ps1 with my brother and cousin. Days i would give anything to go back to
I want a Twisted Metal Collection ASAP!
Great vid, this must have taken forever to make but it brought back so many great memories. Please keep ‘em coming!
69: London Bridge ain’t be falling down, London Bridge be going down. Know what I’m saying?
I guess the next ranking video would be best drivers. Of course, Needles would probably be number one, but it would be interesting to hear your takes on all the one-off characters and what could be done to improve them
Your next video could be about which TM has the best music!
I just found your channel and I gotta say, apart from your insightful inspection on the TM series, I absolutely love and appreciate your connection with Iron Maiden (the band). They're also my favorite group of all time, seen them 4x. Love to see them mentioned multiple times on your channel!
Roman Ruins acknowledges the Tribal Chief ☝️
Thanks for this! I've got such great memories of a lot of these levels.
"I acknowledge these Roman Ruins", I see what you did there.
Every twisted metal ranked Boss battle ranked worst to best
Tbh Always preferred long battles on big maps than short battles on small maps, more to explore is always appreciated. Great vid 👍 I picked snowy roads every time 😅
You have good taste since my favorite level of all time is number 4 :p
so I'm not the only one who likes to be a gremlin on Meat your Maker.
Me personally, I used to LOVE throwing people into the grinder with Mr.Slam's Special.
Wow that ruins of los angeles track brought a hardcore nostalgia trip
13:37 omg 🤣 “That was one attack” bro I laughed so hard I hear I snorted with is probably the first time that’s ever happened.
Keep up the amazing content, man. Your work is always entertaining to watch!!
For me, finding out that Iron Maiden is Bacon's favorite band of all time was the single best part of the video. You see, they are also my favorite band of all time.
Infinity-billion! My new favorite word.
TM Community, please find an action replay code for the multiplayer levels asap!
Great video, by the way!
Heyyyyyy TB!!!! I love you're content so much, ur one of the only youtubers I currently click immediately no matter the upload because ik ur commentary is always a banger 😁 keep up the good work my guy, 60k is not a milestone to sleep on n I feel like soon ur effort will pay off with u sitting on a comfy 100k 👍
Great video btw n P.S can you please consider doing a ranking video on every single mortal kombat tower ending, I'd def watch that baby no matter the run time ♥
P.P.S if you can network to 4thSnake I'm sure you two would make banger MK collabs
My final "hot take" (puns, hurr) on Amazonia: Fire Walk
I think Amazonia 3000 BC in TM4 is a narrowly better level, but for one peculiar reason: the movement tech potential.
The fire walk is perfection, I agree. Ever since I played it as a kid it has stuck out in my mind as a memorable level.
"its ambitious but boring" sums up 4 pretty well as a whole
In tm4 when sweet uses his special use up up down down, to teleport away and keep your distance till the special dissapears
Great video man I agree to most of these picks
Now do the vehicles 0_o
Great job! I can tell that a TON of work went into this video.
Suggestion, best looking/most badass vehicles
