    Nice video....the best way to fight weeds is build the soil and overseeds in spring n fall...A healthy lawn will choke out the weeds....I see you use humic acid....you should also look into using sea kelp,blackstrap molasses unsulfur, fish fertilizer...your soil microbes will be happy and definitely help with weeds.

      Most definitely I don't really use too much weed killer maybe once or twice a season because once my turf grow in the weeds can't survive. Oh yea I also got some kelp in my stash lol thank you for the support

    Great to see you back. Lost track last year with all the craziness going on. Had a tough time with the weeds last year. I used Tenacity and got mixed results. I think I attacked them too late. I have a couple of suggestions. It would be great to see a progression of the Tenacity working and also a side by side progression of the lawn maybe at the peak of your lawn. What part of the country are you located? I would think methods change depending on your local weather. Also, great message on communicating with your family and friends. Keep up the videos. Excellent channel.

    Darryl, glad you're safe cause i remember your job in the hospital. We got our shots here in Philly.
    Anyway, all to you my lawn is a whole lot better than last year this time. I've got good grass coming through but I see some bald spots and that weed that has the purple top.
    Should I detract again?
    Or just heavy seed w tenacity?
    Or in too early to seed and just do my tenacity right now?
    I'm just trying to get ahead vs behind.
    Thanks again and glad to see ya.

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  3 года назад +1

      If you have bad thatch buildup you can go ahead and dethatch or if its minimum thatch you can use a skinny metal tine rack and rake out the dead grass then overseed. You want to get the best seed to soil contact as possible. This is a good time to start overseeding and definitely make sure to spray that tenacity to kill and protect your grass. Best to get a jump start. The weather seem to be in the clear from here on so it should be ok. Thank you I'm making it through this I hope all is well with you also

    I bought the same bottle of Tenacity and can’t wait to start using it. Do you know if cheap shampoo and blue food coloring will work as surfactant and market? I’ve read it will. Trying to keep my costs down where I can. Also interested in your overseed results in the corner. I can’t seem to get my seed to germinate in the spring. Thanks for the vid and spreading some love and positivity at the end. World needs more of that, too much evil going around. Be blessed!

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  3 года назад +2

      I definitely understand trying to keep the cost down. Yes a cheap shampoo will definitely work or a cheap dishwashing soap as a surfactant. I've never tried the food coloring trick but I've heard of people using it before so it may work. Spread love and positivity especially through these times. Thank you for the support.

    Finally, you're back!!! I get the onion grass too, mostly in the front of my house. I had a ton of snow mold this year and I raked it out with my thatch rake this week since it was warm, not sure if it was the smartest thing to do but I did it and the grass is looking better now...some areas with shallow roots ended up being pulled up but I will over-seed in April once the weather gets consistently water. I over-seeded with turf type tall fescue in the fall but I wonder if that has more issues with snow mold?

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  3 года назад +1

      Snow mold happens. It was beautiful outside great time to get some yard work started and some times you can definitely pull out the shallow roots raking if you're too rough but alittle overseeding will get you back and running in no time.

    • @steviem5279
      @steviem5279 3 года назад

      @@LawnAmateur Yep! I'm going to put down the Tenacity at the start of April, we're going to get some cold days toward the end of this week. After the tenacity I will wait a week then put down the starter fert and seeds and see what happens. I usually over-seed with the northeast blend, but last fall I over-seeded with Turf type tall fescue which came in well though I did have some patches can came up late so it didn't establish roots in some of the bare areas and that's what came up this past week. What I am not sure of doing is, eithr over-seed with the turf type tall fescue again or over-seed with the northeast blend and then in the fall go back to the turf type tall fescue.

    Nice! How often would you recommend reapplying tenacity to prevent the weeds from coming back? I was thinking once a month from april-september during those heavy weed germinating months.

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  3 месяца назад

      @The_El_Guapo I wouldn't use it all the time on your lawn maybe once or twice because it'll harm your lawn. Use a dedicated pre emergent to keep weeds away

    • @El_El_Guapo
      @El_El_Guapo 3 месяца назад +1

      @LawnAmateur I'm just looking for some sort of regimen with this stuff. Everything talked about online is really basic information. Label say pre emergent is good for about 1 month and allows for a maximum yearly application rate of WAY more than what I would be applying. My goal is to keep my regimen pre emergent as much as possible. I figured since it will take me 3 years to go through this bottle, might as well try and maximize its potential. Anyways l, thanks for the response 🤙

    I've had lots of problems with wild onions and wild garlic. The only way to permanently get rid of them is to just dig them up so you get rid of all the bulbs. I've tried all weed killers but they always come back because the bulbs survive. I also have tons of moss which require moss killers and lime. Now I get a ton of dead nettle which grows everywhere. The only good thing about them is that they're easy to pull out of the ground with the roots.

  • @TanyaScorpio
    @TanyaScorpio 3 года назад +1

    Darryl, double checking.. so right now since it's not really warm warm. I should only cut the grass and kill the weeds? I think I have a few weeks to seed. I can say though I have some patches my grass is very green. I'm getting there.

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  3 года назад +1

      Yea you can go ahead and attack the weeds now and depending on your weather conditions if its not going to be too cold you can go ahead reseed those thin areas.
