i like how he's all smiles fully knowing he is about to blow minds and melt faces
WOW this guy is an amazing jazz guitarist in addition to being able to shred it up
I have a feeling Kirk is a way better guitar player than those knocking him will ever be.
Word.
Yngwie Malmsteen
Not sure why Kirk has so many haters who have nothing better to do then find video's and talk trash. WHat a bunch of losers.
You'll never see me in a Beyondsay comment section, or Justin Beeber, or any other artists I hate. If I don't like them, I don't listen to them. WHy waste my time? These people trashing Kirk are very low IQ people. Simpletons.
Megadeth fans hate him but he is good guitar player...
@@wchurchill419 You're so off base. Sound like a little kid who has no clue. Once great band? STILL packing stadiums around the world. Still seems pretty great to me.
He has a comfort zone and specific play style. Some how you think money should make a person a better player. Money and resources right? What a concept. None of them should have made it because they were all poor when they started and became great to begin with.
You're just an idiot.
You also fail to realize how old these rockers are too. (KIRK AROUND 56)All this time and at there age... STILL PACKING STADIUMS AROUND THE WORLD.
THATS not AN AVERAGE GUITAR PLAYER BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION.
Had one of these years ago. Amazing guitar. Miss it every day, still sad it was stolen.
Frick man, that must suck, this is my dream guitar, I really want it
@@shaggymotionless4269 they're pretty cheap these days, keep an eye out
@@barnabyjones5161 ye I wil ey, and tbh they are considerably cheap new
a little mozart feeling in the middle of his shredding..awesome playing!!!!
They should give a wah pedal with this guitar... :-P
+livinthesound Just like Cliff Burton used too. Burton could not do shit, without his cry baby.
wetvent Morley wah.
livinthesound 1? 10 at least...
wetvent yeah couldn't do shit, right.
Lol that’s messed up man but it’s so true 😂😂😂😂
This guy should have his own signature guitar
The KH-2 neck is among the most comfortable necks ever made. The necks on the LTD 602s and White Zombies just aren’t the same. Also feels much better than the painted necks.
is it thinner than the "THIN U" neck on later model ESP guitars or ?
@@Rob-qr2kn What do you mean by later ESPs? Do you mean like standard ESP and ESP E-II Ms and Horizons? If so, yes. The neck on the Japanese KH-2s is thinner. It’s not the same neck as the one on the standard models.
Those necks are great too and very similar to the Jackson Soloist (SL1/SL2H) neck, but imo the KH-2 neck is one of the best I’ve ever played.
damn the action looks really high on this one
but where is the wah? It should come with the guitar
Rahul Arya Bundle package
Destroyers buy 1 guitar. Wise people buy 2 or 3. Collectors begin at buying 3 or more! We know you're a f head cause you speak about buying just 1 guitar.
Rahul Arya original comment
@@dreyn7780 lol.... I started learning guitar 4.5 months ago, and I had my 3rd guitar by the 2nd month.
I knew at that point I was going to end up with a huge collection. There are still a LOT of guitars I just have to have lol. I have about 10 sets of PU's too.
That means each model you buy, you’re buying 3 of them. At this moment in time, you’re just consuming a lot of guitars.
He's really good...
BEST GUITAR IN THE WORLD
Fell in love with the guitar at first sight.
Man how great this guitar is to me!!!
I have the same guitar but with changes which I personaly were needing. Like Ebony finger board and EMG 81X and 85X and so on!!!
I think that is set up like mine. You pointed to the neck pu as the 81, and the bridge as the 60. That is exactly what I did. Most....actually all of the examples I found on you tube of people using 81/60 put the 60 on the neck and 81 on bridge.
I tried them both in bridge position in single pu only install. The 60 seemed to geared for bridge, and the 81 seemed wrong for bridge, but perfect for neck. My set up: 85 Peavey Falcon, 60/81 pu, single vol, single tone, 3 way switch. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!
I wish I could play half this good
Thank you for getting back to me. Very informative and ended up buying the KH-2 based on your response, you were spot on.
I bought one a few weeks ago, it's awesome, 🤘 I love it !! Great for metal 🤘 Rock on 🤘
It's so amazing how he can play guitar
Very cool guitar! I love the neck thru version better, but it's much more expensive
The sweeping at 2:16 damn!
With the 18volts mod sound so killer.
hi
may I ask you a question about the bridge , should be perpendicular to the studs? and the original spring configuration? are V?
That was a really great demo! I want one :-)
ESP makes really nice guitars......
Rammstein live aus Berlin 1998
I have my original 20 year old KH-2 without the separate battery cavity and loaded with dual EMG 81s. That’s the classic version used by Kirk since he started using M-IIs and the sound of the albums and tours. The EMG 60 doesn’t belong in this guitar and definitely not the Bonebreakers now in all of his sig models. Same thing with Hetfield. If you want the real deal you need an ESP Explorer/ MX 220 or 250 with 81/60 setup.
Mine is about 25 years old now, didn't know they had some with separate battery cavities or any other config but 81/81 until I just looked at what they are selling now... And they don't even sell this style now except maybe the "LTD" ones. Found all this out while shopping for new pick ups for it, switching to the newer 81twx... just because, really. Want to keep it the same, but better?
@@frankgrimm387 Yeah, ESP started putting the battery in a separate route with a cover for easier access than having to unscrew the plate.
The 81twx basically has an actual separate single coil pickup inside in the housing along with the 81. So if you want both the classic 81 sound and real single coil tone it’s a great choice.
You simply have to install push/pull pots to be able to switch between single coil and humbucker.
@@lecorsaire2283 Yup, have them sitting here now, came with the pots. I'm not going to do it tho, I'll have the local shop do it and string it up for me. Did take EMG 23 days or so to ship them out to me.
amazing playing
wow great playing and a beast of a guitar
It only works plugged into a Kirk Hammett amp. Guitarists can now tell it’s not electricly not compatible with other brand equipment. MF is making a fool of themselves. Not us!
@@dreyn7780, What?
Ok, everything is cool, Kirk is one of my favorite guitarist! Now plz release those Kirk’s guitars with fancy paint works to the market for us to support him and ESP even more! And I mean ESP Versions not LTD’s, like people always can see Ibanez Joe Satriani or Steve Vai signature guitars, or Gibson Slash models, Fender Eric Clapton models, PRS John Mayer Silver Sky’s when they walk into a random guitar store, but you don’t normally see kirk’s ESP guitars, not even the Korean made LTD versions, and when you see it, it’s always a pure black guitar lol, black guitar is cool, but not if it’s an all time one option… is it just me that feel like the ESP has gone out of the league before it actually got in?
hi beutiful video , may i ask you if the tremolo bridge is parallel to the body or angled like some ibanez ? thanks for the beautiful video
If I want to buy a guitar with a floyd rose you/I need a better amp or doesn't matter the watts and all that stuff??
I'm torn between this or Alexi 600 signature ;/ I could pretty much get either one. Can you get any cleans from that guitar? ;D
that engl amp sound killer
Is there a 7 string model of that guitar?
I see that you get the KH-2 neck through, and a 2007 model with a bolt on neck. I have a M-II neck through, and it is a beast, but was wondering about the KH-2 with the bolt on neck? Any advice?
GOT 1 AND LOVE IT AND A KH602
Is it Indonesian made? Scarf joint by any chance?
There it is..... I knew I left it somewhere.
I own a customized KH-2 vintage bolt on neck, with Seymore's instead of EMGS and really old 90's technology, but damn this thing is an old beast, don't know how I feel about the skull inlays... This guy also should've demonstrated how beefy the lows are on this guitar.
+Dylan Garrett Why would you put S/D's in a KH2?
Why are almost all the KH2's bolt-on and not neck thru? Signature should mean same as Kirk's gtrs.
one day i will goin to have that guitar. 😎😎😎
Nice tone
Чувак какая эта клёвая гитара для меня!!!
У меня такаяже гитара но с изменениями которые мне нужны были. Как например с Чорного Дерева накладка и EMG 81X and 85X и так далее!!!
How many sig guitars does Kirk have? Like the Hetfield pups better.
He basically just plays a KH2 with different finnishes.
Guitar Whores
Thank you. Great name btw. Aren't we all LOL.
You're welcome. Yeah, we have a group of about 8,000 Guitar Whores on Facebook. This is just our YT Channel, which should be starting up this month. Come by and check it out if you're on FB.
What disortion pedal were u using?
its just the amp, the engl fireball 100
Wow that top volume knob,,,it can be an annoyance, it definitely gets in the way!
what gauge are the strings?
Mine came with 9's but I put 10's on it a couple days after getting it. This was in '98 too so it might be different now.
How much it???
WHAT SONG DID HE PLAY????? PLEASE SAY MEEEEE
i like the Guitar! :-)
If i buy this guitar, can i put on the ouija decals?
+Jimmy De Santa On the LTD KH-602 yes. But on this ESP KH-2, hhhmmm...
Emmes Both Look completely identical...
Yes, but sticker on the original ESP...?!
F*G MM you wouldn't wanna put stickers on the 602 either, such a pretty guitar
I’ve owned a KH-2 for 20 years and would never change anything. This is the kind of guitar you keep original. Mine was built before EMG came out with their easy swap system so I wouldn’t even change the dual 81s.
On a KH-602 feel free to put on a Ouija or Mummy decal. The Mummy decal would suit the 602 well since it has a black painted neck just like the real Mummy. The painted neck looks cool but actually feels and plays worse which is why Kirk keeps most his necks bare.
Sick 🙌
Killer Axe 🤘🤘
How expensive is this exact model?
My Horror FestEvil you can pick it up for about $500
Ricky Spainish maybe 5000. I've found the kh-602 for 1200
Jblooddrunk, what about the internet robots? They’re getting upset! They read your comments too.
That's an aggressive sounding guitar 🙂🎸
MF is just too cheap to buy Kirk Hammett brand amplifier. There’s no excuse not to be using KH amp.
@@dreyn7780 nah, ENGL does awesome work, Kirk used different amps on each album anyway
@@rtomas47 Richard, realise Kirk has got to a knowledge level where he’s found some sounds he likes.
Your statement implies Kirk is still learning what to do.
He’s not 16 years old anymore.
Kirk and the amp professionals 🧑🏫 gathered all his ideas together and built something that now defines something so they can sell it but it also documented something from him.
He now has created an object from sound experiments.
The Kirk Hammett amp is real and it is representative of his sound.
You’re not this unreasonable with mister Ford. He doesn’t need to drive every Ford car.
Engl doesn’t have an amp model that accepts the unique signal from Kirk Hammett pickups.
Brands aren’t your friends.
When are you going to measure voltage and current output from pickups?
Stop getting robbed by brands for once in your life.
@@dreyn7780 it's clearly stupid, that pedal was build to be used by several people, Kirk himself uses a lot of different guitars and amps he plays Les Pauls and Flying Vs with passive pickups which have different output from his signatures with active EMGs, he uses even different effects changing the output, so that pedal is made to work with every rig not just his... logically and btw most of distortion/wah/boost pedals make noise, that's what noise gate is used for
And about branding, Dunlop makes stuff that is supposed to work every brand :p you don't even know what are you talking about
@@rtomas47 the LAW exists mate.
They apply for patents and they get given permission to make the unique products.
BANG!
They get to OWN the brand name which gets applied to the products which are clearly unique and WILL NEVER FUNCTION CORRECTLY IN ANOTHER BRAND OF PRODUCT.
K H products are NOT aftermarket products designed to work with other famous brands.
Whats the song? 1:38
sounds like improvisation
i want this guitar
I never understood why Kirk wanted this high end version to have a bolt on....
William Schaffer probs for better access
Wan Ilhan a neck through is better access
Neither is better than the other. It's all about preference, and they do have different tonal characteristics. Bolt-on, like basswood just gets a bad rep because its a cheaper method of construction and is used in low price guitars, but actually there is nothing wrong with it inherently.
Not only Kirk. All of James’s signature guitars except for the JH-3 were bolt-on as well as the international market ESP Explorers back when they were sold in the ‘90s. The first neck-thru KH-2 offered in America was the original limited edition KH-2 Vintage versión before they decided to keep producing it. The original LE KH-2 Ouijas also were bolt-on. I could’ve bought the JH-2 or the Ouija back in ‘98 but they were both $300 more than the KH-2 and I had no idea that both of them would be discontinued due to lawsuits. At that time ESP was not the mainstream brand they would become in the 2000s. EMGs were also still something special and very few guitars offered them stock. The pickups of the era were the JB/‘59 combo a la Jackson. Most Ibanez were equipped with their own pickups V7/V8 except for high-end models with Dimarzios. Most Japanese made stuff came with horrible Duncan-designed pickups.
Now almost everything comes stock with good pickups but is no longer made in Japan but Indonesia, China, Vietnam and Korea. Less and less guitars are being made in Korea since even Korean labor is getting too expensive for $1k and less guitars.
All of that is irrelevant to a buyer of guitars. You're actually talking as if you're a factory making product. You've lost the plot! Buyers are concerned with how many product they can buy. What their public image will be with the product. What is the sonic future world they will be living in when they acquire all the signature artist product, etc... Oh, and what are all the different sonic sounds available from the KH brand range. There's no point buying into a universe if its only got 1 sound on offer. Kirk builds a collection of many different sounds and products.
got me this same one for 20
i got an m2 with a maple board. its the exact same thing but cheaper because it doesn't have all the signature gimmicks. also, that fretboard is crying for some oil
Sean Attard but the pickups are not the same or am I wrong? I want to buy that guitar
they were, but i changed them seymour duncan jb and 59
Sean Attar ok thanks for the quick answer and by the way you make good videos man keep it up
Mike C reasonable i guess
Signature gimmicks? The separate volume controls already make a big difference apart from the inlays. I agree that any original ESP M-II is a monster guitar bolt-on or neck-thru. It’s a shame that they’re now way out of reach for most people. I bought my custom ordered KH-2 brand new from Sam Ash for exactly $1440 with tax back in ‘98. Now you have to shell out anywhere from $3200-3500 plus tax.
the fretboard is way too light-colored for that guitar...
POINTS TO THE 60 SAYS 81. Just saying.
Goatar Tuners huh?
Oil your gotoh parts and they turn out the be far superior than original brand issue product!
Musician Friend " ? . I Would Love To Buy This Guitar Kirk Hammett Signiger Guitar Or Outher Any 🎸s ) If Musician Friend Has Calalogs Whit Guitars. ? Troy Frost / Troyster. 👍🤘🎸S Musician Friend.
Learn to spell idiot
Is this really a bolt on? xD fuck no, kirk doesnt use this guitars lol
Quit being so modest. You make me sick... in a good way!
He solos better than Kirk on hardwired, oops did I say that? Lol
I don't think there's anyone who can't solo better than KH. He's mediocre by today's standards and so are his guitars.
palonazo he's mediocre? Bitch pls..
angryheb1 but kirk doesn’t play dad blues ”licks”
Metal isn't your strong suit.
I'll take the LTD lol
it doesnt wort the money...
You’re better than Kirk Hammet lol
Aka only know the pentatonic scale and pick 3 String sweeps like a amateur
"We're gonna play some pretty CRUSHING Rythm stuff and see how it goes". I've heard more crushing Rhythm than that in an Elevator in a Hospital.
Just goes to show the fact that no matter HOW expensive or "Good" a guitar is, if you don't know how to set up a good amp and pedal sound, you can make it sound like a Fender Squier with a 10wat amp on it's distortion channel, like this guy does at the start here... like wtf... sounds AWFUL:
Calm down
Needs a little more work on technique but keep practicing !!
What the fuck?
Needs more work? ....Yeah what Mr. Taylor said.
Wtf
