Today this song was played at my friend's memorial. She and her husband died just a few weeks after their wedding. Someone blew through a stop sign and hit them, causing them to be hit again by another oncoming car. I was doing fine until this song, and then the waterworks started. It's not what you take when you leave this world behind you, its what you leave behind you when you go. They left a legacy of love.
No its never too late to turn your life around. I had a neglected childhood, molested in a 6 yr physically mentally emotionally sexually abusive relationship which I let lead me to 15 yr drug addiction to cope which led me to low self esteem self worth prostitution and homelessness. But Gos never have up on me and with me finally reaching my bottom I turned to God. I prayed for Him to take me out of my mess amd if it was His will and His will only to send me a good, responsible man to share a new kind of life with. Now I don't know if it's a coincidence but after praying amd never losing hope and faith I took His Hand. A man came into my life offered to be there to help me get my life together. Bought me a car 3 months into our relationship so I could be motivated to get a job and get my life togther. We worked hard saved our money and bought a house and almost 8 years clean. I have a who is now a wonderful fiance, 3 beautiful furbabies. I work for myself. Have a growing relationship with the Lord and a healthy relationship with family. My mom got to see me happy and clean before she passed. I love and respect myself today. Gods Grace saved me from a continual life of misery and death. I am truly blessed and will spend wveryday of the rest of my life making God proud and working to be the woman He create me to be. Amen
There's only a few things more relaxing than driving on my truck just driving to no particular place with the windows down, listening to country music songs like this one. No obscene lyrics, no nonsense stuff, just beautiful stories like this one.
I'm not religious either, but I have faith and live by faith in Jesus Christ, that He has washed away my son by His blood, and I now live in relationship with Him.

I love how it basically talks about their legacies...like the farmer left his son with faith and love for growing things...and the teacher left wisdom for the children over the years..and the preacher left the bible which is basically giving her a second chance. And then the woman leaves her son who then leaves his knowledge of god where he preaches.I find that beautiful!
Something I think about as I grow older. Something we all should think about, those memories of who and what we were and what and who was important to us will live forever after we're gone in the memories of those we knew and whose lives we touched.

Lost a brother on a rural Wisconsin road to a drunk driver back in 1968 . He was about to graduate High School , had a sweetheart , and such a bright future . Left a void in our family that was never filled . Please , don’t drink and drive - hate for another family to go through that grief .

Thank you Lord for letting me hear this.

I get so discouraged when the media uses disparaging remarks to draw attention to someone's problems. Randy deserves to be lifted up for his accomplishments, not put down for his shortcomings; ALL of us have those!

It’s a sad song that reminds me of a tragic car accident that claimed both the lives of my parents and a truck driver. My father had a massive heart attack on Christmas morning 2001. As he drove through the intersection, an 18 wheeler hit them head on. That truck driver died the next morning in the hospital. Such a sad song, but a reminder to me each time I hear this song. God has a plan and a purpose for everything. God is good! Love him with all you got, as long as you can! We never know when a wooden cross will be put up for us! God bless all!
RIP Gary, Susan & Tiffany (Hastings, NE 2014). Justin... you're alive for a reason my brother. I hope all is well for you in Texas. I knew your sister Tiffany very well my friend. In fact, she was at my house the night before the accident happened. My son called her Aunt Tiffy. She was an Angel among us my friend. Many blessings to you. Keeping you in my prayers.
The song describes four passengers, a farmer on vacation and a teacher seeking higher education, a hooker and a preacher both of whom were "searching for lost souls", on a mid-night bus traveling from the United States to Mexico. The bus is involved in a fatal accident due to the bus driver not seeing a stop sign only to be hit by an 18-wheeler which kills three of the four passengers; because there are four people featured in the song excluding the driver of the bus and the trucker of 18-wheeler which hit it, neither of whom presumably died in the wreck, the lyrics ask why there are only three crosses and not four. The song mentions that the farmer and teacher were killed in the wreck, with the farmer leaving a harvest and a son who would follow in his footsteps, and the teacher leaving knowledge in the children she taught. It also mentions that the preacher lays his bloodstained Bible in the hands of the hooker, asking her if she could "see the Promised Land". The end of the song reveals that the story was being told by a preacher during Sunday church services. However, in a twist, it reveals that the hooker survived and had a son. The preacher telling the story is in fact the son of the hooker (holding up the bloodstained Bible as proof), who read the Bible that had been given to her by the dying preacher; in turn, her son eventually became a preacher himself. This leads to speculation that the hooker read the Bible, left prostitution, got married, and gave birth to the preacher at the end of the song.
I agree but I think she was pregnant during the accident and had her son single and never got married instead devoted herself to the lord it never mentions it but idk I just like to think that the three wooden crosses also symbolizes the three crosses at the crucifixion.
Every time I hear this song it makes me emotional. My cousin Dylan dies in a side by side accident. He was funding it around a corner and it rolled 4 times and slammed into a tree. He was the only one not wearing a seatbelt and he died with a missing limb. His brother who wore his seatbelt watched his own brother die because or a careless mistake and I’ve never been able to relate to this song more in my life.
This is a beautiful song. I just heard it for the first time last night and I almost cried so I had to hear it again. I have been questioning my faith, but when I heard this song it made me want to grow in it

I find this peculiar but in a good way. It's sort of wild that an atheist would listen to a song with this title and use the word beautiful in comment. I wasn't a believer until I turned 49. I'm blessed now to have come out of the darkness that had consumed me in this world. We have freedom of choice and I'm not here to criticize you in any way. Just know you are loved by our Father, (yep, he knew each of us before we were even in the womb), and as a believer I have the ability to love you too. I pray that you are safe and healthy and pray that God stirs in you. You'll know it when it happens cuz He's pretty amazing. You always have the freedom that he gave all of us to still say no, or yes. I pray that you say yes. It's a game changer. We truly can't know our own hearts but God does. (scriptural stuff) The heart is deceptively wicked. True dat.

Came over this this morning for the first time.. I am a teacher in my first year of teaching, we have had family losses and mountains too and often asked "Why".. The elusive question... In this beautiful song story, it asks why the 3 had to die, yet the 4th survived due to luck / life giving them a second chance to live. Made me cry... Beautiful story and song. Xx
I love this song! I am holding Randy up in prayer, I do not know what he has been going through, but I do know that he is talented, is a good man, is not perfect & does not deserve the disparaging comments that have been posted on the internet ( I am thankful I see no such comments posted on this video's thread)
I don't know how to feel about this song it brought me down to tears I lost my dad 13 years ago I'm 20 years old now that song make me feel sad, the pain not knowing if there is a better place than to be around violence
I’m very much not Christian, however the main point of this song still stands. It doesn’t matter what you took when you die, only the impact and the people you leave behind. It wasn’t the fact that the hooker read the Bible and became Christian that made the son into a preacher. But the hope & love given from the preacher in his last moments that got her out of that situation, to read that bible, have faith, and make her son become a preacher. To share the love, the hope, and to keep both of them alive in memory.
Randy Travis one of the last remaining Christian country singers, hopefully he will be back on top again 😇🇺🇸🇺🇸!
He probably won't. I read his health has deteriorated more. He's not doing so well.

Holtville accident today reminded me of this song. thirteen wooden crosses !!! Lord have mercy on their souls - R.I.P
I heard this song for the first time today and I really love it.
One of my favourite songs and I can't stop listening to it these days. What a beautiful song! Getting to know the story lines gives me a mixed feelings. Life is so uncertain.
I see the crosses every year when I go to Gettysburg
Gettysburg has too many imo. No battlefield on earth should be turned into a theme park. Andersonville and Fort Pillow have the right idea.
This song is so underated, I'd be satisfied with already 200M views.
My grandpa died in a car crash and this song always gets to me
this song is so touching I love it. I don't know what it is but something about this song just makes me feel so calm
Love this song I relate to it alot I pray everybody gets salvation n that my mistakes don't add to all the hate but works against
It is a real nice song. I have this cd. Randy was here in Montreal not too long ago. I saw him here many years ago. I believe The Gatlin brothers opened up for him.

By the grace of the Lord, another sinner gets a second chance at redemption, and finds Him. And the kingdom of God lives on. Amen!
This song was written by Kim Williams who also wrote hits for Garth, Reba, Joe Diffie and others. Kim Williams died Thursday at age 68.
This song makes me cry. Im a grown man but not afraid to say it, cause man, this song is really good.
This song makes you realize how short life is. You never know when you will take your last breath or even when you will see that person again. This song shows you how grateful to be because you never know when you, will gone. 😢 This song goes out to my sister that past away 2 years ago. I love you sissy💔😢
I'm so sorry for your loss.
😢😥😢😥
Randy Travis, you have touched my life and I am so grateful for it! God bless you brother!

Xx
I hope you're not a Woke CRT Teacher.
My uncle has just died and this is his most favourite song miss you rumbolt xx
I miss Randy's voice, he was so so good, keep praying he can come back and sing again!
Love, Three Wooden Crosses by: Randy Travis.
I LOVE this song
Hello
I love this song. It makes me think about my uncle who died. So I cry every time I listen/ hear this song. It is such a beautiful song.
WOW! I Love this song and this song is very very beautiful
crying#love you♡in Jesus Loves you!
I still love this song and I cried to the song
I’m very much not Christian, however the main point of this song still stands.
It doesn’t matter what you took when you die, only the impact and the people you leave behind.
It wasn’t the fact that the hooker read the Bible and became Christian that made the son into a preacher. But the hope & love given from the preacher in his last moments that got her out of that situation, to read that bible, have faith, and make her son become a preacher. To share the love, the hope, and to keep both of them alive in memory.
Such a good song one of my grandma favorite songs
This is a great song. Been listening to it non-stop for 3 hours. I also sing as a hobby and am learning this song.
I absolutely love songs like these that truly tell you a story. And his voice is amazing
What a wonderful song...sung by an amazing voice that is silent now. I'll be praying that Randy knows the reason for this lovely song.
Just goes to show that God has a perfect plan for each of us!!
My grandmother loved this song before she passed away 2 years ago
Wow I listened to this song alot of time when I was a kid but today is when I have just learned why there three crosses.🤯😳
