It just doesn't get any better than this. Not just this song, but all those songs we grew up with in the 60's, 70's and 80's ...I know every generation says it, but seriously look at the world now. We are like aliens, those of us who grew up with this music. The world is so different now. What they sing about, what they speak about -- it's mostly nothing ...it's foreign ...thank God I grew up in the 70's and 80's ...I'm lucky, I got to live through that time of innocence and beauty. No phone glued to my hand. Pinball and ten pin bowling was as hardcore as it got lol ..and the music just kept feeding the soul
60s and early to mid 70s were the best. Afterwards it went downhill with the rise of vhs people became lazy and it gave them more of an excuse to stay in the house. Once the 90s came around it got even worse with the rise of the internet although the internet was slowly making its way in the 80s. You see back in the 60s and for most of the 70s if you wanted to see a movie you’d get your ass up and go to the theatre otherwise you missed it. There was no 24 hour tv or recording devices to tape it either, we had fewer channels back then, so the odds the movie would be on tv would be slim as well unless it was really special. Timeless words of wisdom. As a management consultant who cared too much about my clients and my job, I spent far too long chasing lost causes, trying to help people who refused to listen, refused to be helped and who would never change. Like Don Quixote I tilted at too many windmills and never knew when to walk away. I wasted so much emotional energy at much cost to my health and learned so much of Kenny Rogers' advice the hard way. This song is truly an ace that you can keep. RIP KR. Thanks, dude. I wish I'd listened when I was younger.

It's interesting as well as beautiful how some of us here were introduced to this song by our fathers. My father loves country music and I find myself playing his favourites when I miss him. Music such as this beautiful piece takes me back to when I was child and we'd sit in silence together. He'd be deep in thought as he relaxed and enjoyed his music. I always wondered why. I guess the only way to find out is to ask him where his mind was the entire time we'd listen to country music together. I love you Daddy. ❤
I'm not a connoisseur of Country music, but I respect it. Kenny took U to School and entertained U at the same time. As far as country music goes, this is the G.O.A.T👊💯
Every American father should sit with their son or sons and dissect every word with them. Also no matter what path life has taken you if you take heed to the words of Kenny you can safe yourself from the predators of this world 👊💯

"The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers is a song that tells the story of a chance encounter between a young narrator and an older gambler on a train. The older man shares wisdom about life and gambling, emphasizing the importance of making wise decisions, taking calculated risks, and knowing when to walk away from a situation. The song's advice transcends gambling, serving as a metaphor for navigating life's challenges and uncertainties with wisdom and prudence.

do ask him
Back when music had a story or a lesson to tell. I do miss it.
He is a living legend and a warm voice to awake at

I miss my dad. Continue resting in peace King Sam😢
I'm not a connoisseur of Country music, but I respect it. Kenny took U to School and entertained U at the same time. As far as country music goes, this is the G.O.A.T👊💯
This song never gets old 🃏
Watching King Richard again, and I came here for this amazing song full of wisdom.

Every American father should sit with their son or sons and dissect every word with them. Also no matter what path life has taken you if you take heed to the words of Kenny you can safe yourself from the predators of this world 👊💯

The legend lives forever,😊❤
"The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers is a song that tells the story of a chance encounter between a young narrator and an older gambler on a train. The older man shares wisdom about life and gambling, emphasizing the importance of making wise decisions, taking calculated risks, and knowing when to walk away from a situation. The song's advice transcends gambling, serving as a metaphor for navigating life's challenges and uncertainties with wisdom and prudence.
His music was such courageous

With age this song has quickly become GOAT
July 2024 at 44 and vividly remembering dad playing this song in his car when i was a kid
My favourite part of this song isn’t even the famous chorus (which is indeed legendary),it’s the first 1:17 that gets me fired up
People love to think they are special for not following what's famous lmao
