    I own one. I average 17.8km/L on city traffic and 30km/L on the highway.
    It does the job if you're into fuel efficient, realiable and solid metro car.
    I chose this over the Yaris X after test driving it, this definitely feels luxurious than the YX.

    I see a lot of comment going for the Sealion. I get their point, but for a buyer like me, im paying for peace of mind. Yes the Sealion is really tempting, but some of its features (as I read from long time users abroad), are glitchy, ie collision mitigation braking suddenly because the vehicle is thinking you are ramming the vehicle ahead, esp when overtaking on provincial roads.
    The Corolla Cross hybrid has been around for quite some time already and the parts are readily available.
    Yes the Sealion price is cheap, but how sure are you with the after sales? How long will the parts come in? I’d buy the Sealion maybe in 5 yrs, after it has proven itself in the local market. For now, i’ll go with the Corolla Cross.

    There’s a reason why BYD requires expensive premium fuel and that is because of reliability concerns.
    Toyota only needs regular unleaded. And discounting the plugin charging range, Toyota’s Synergy Drive drinks LESS fuel than the BYD.
    So all in all you’re getting more value for the BYD but you’re saving more money with the Toyota. If you are buying only one car or if you drive long distances, go with the Toyota. If you’re getting a second or third car and drives short distances the BYD is the better choice.

    For people debating between this and the byd sealion. Keep in mind that toyota asked BYDs help to improve its hybrid system. Toyota had its share of hybrid hiccups. byd has the superior system, is the number 1 EV auto maker in the world surpassing tesla and has a better interior as well. A toyota is a toyota but remember that toyota was once a startup and had to build its name, every manufacturer starts from the bottom.
    A plugin hybrid vs a non plugin. 100 km all electric mileage is very beneficial for city dwellers, you practically wouldn't need to gas up for months if its purely city driving.

    • @MAP87PA
      @MAP87PA 5 месяцев назад +4

      Toyota’s only asking for the PHEV tech. Toyota’s Synergy drive is more superior without using premium fuel.
      This is literally more efficient than the sealion. The only reason why the Sealion gets more miles is because of the huge chargeable battery.

      @@MAP87PA unless you travel more than 100 kms a day or for every trip or you dont charge your battery, i dont see the cross beating the sealion since it's a plugin.
      the upcoming corolla will be using byds tech and some bevs of toyota will use byds blade tech batteries. the writing is on the wall.

    Already on the International market BYD is fast becoming a serious cause of concern for the Legacy Automakers such as Toyota and Honda as BYD is now eating steadily into their market shares. Case in point, Honda just recently decided to close down as early as 2025 its internal combustion engine auto factory in Ayutthaya , Thailand due to ferocious competition from BYD in that country. Chinese automobile manufacturers because they have established their own supply chains, are able to do away with additional cost from doing business with outside suppliers and middlemen in the production of automobiles. In contrasts, the Legacy automakers because they do not have their own supply chains are forced to outsource for most of what is needed for automobile production which is why they cannot effectively compete against the juggernaut from China known as BYD. And BYD is no longer a push over. In fact Toyota has plans on the drawing board to adapt BYD's hybrid technology for the foreseeable future of its models to come.

      A point to consider when arguing about reliability is the repairability and the availability of parts, which Toyota and the other Japanese makers already have in their favor.
      Besides, toyota has introduced hybrid tech in their vehicles as early as **checks google** 1997 on their prius.
