Awesome result. I want this for my ve.
Good job, you’re inspiring me to drop the 6.0 out of my VE SS and strip it down. It’s losing hot oil pressure so I need to sort that out and might as well do some upgrades as well. I’ve built windsors, clevelands, big block Fords and a Pontiac but have never done a late motor with efi. I hope the LS is pretty much the same with the exception of tuning. That’s probably my biggest issue as I live in a very small town. Anyway boys- love ya work.
If you have built old school V8's you will love the LS. Very simple and a pleasure to work on, it will pretty much fall together for you compared to SBF. They are architectually very similar to a Windsor, GM pretty much copied fords homework and changed it to alluminium...
@@BoostGumps thanks mate, that’s encouraging to say the least, the most daunting part for me is the engine removal. I’m putting in a two post hoist soon but looking under the bonnet of a VE makes my brain sweat. My other cars are big enough that I can sit in the engine bay while I work on the engine but this is a whole different animal. I’m hoping that as I get into it it will all become obvious. Thanks for your reply.
Riding that front dyno roller hard.
Exactly how it's supposed to
Nice work fellas. Sounds great on the dyno at full noise 💪👌
far out 495hp at the wheels, that's a lot of power.
It's because the car isn't strapped down properly so is rolling forwards and manipulating some weight for power on the rollers, it's probably worth about 50-5tkw at that power
Nice work fellas 👍🇦🇺
Great video 🤙🍻
how many klms on the engine? I am planning on doing my heads and cam soon on my ve ssv. Great video once again
Cant remember exactly but pretty sure it was arround 200k. These LS's are pretty good, we have done plenty of high KM's engines. Long as they have been regularly serviced and run on good fuel you generally wont have issues. Cam bearings will look absolutely cooked, but they all do, even the 40k kms old ones...
Great vid , I’ve always thought dyno figures are hit and miss as you mention 👌
I think / thought diff gearing had a lot to do with it , eg
411s dyno figure higher than
Same car with 300s
What do you think ?
In our experiance the taller the gearing the more power it will show. The shorter gearing seems to tax more power, I guess the parasitic loss is amplified by how many extra times the pinion has to rotate vs a wheel rotation would be the best explenation.
isn't a 1287 over 600 lift?
What histall needed in an auto for this cam and do you get good auto result's with it
Well done boe
Another good one .
How much did you mill from the heads on this one ?
30 thou, pretty much 30 thou on everything. Can go 40 if needed, any more and you start to effect the integrity of the head by making the deck too thin, as well as issues fitting intake manifolds etc.
How much was it to get exactly what you guys done to this VE?
It depends what modifications you already have and if you need a clutch etc etc. If you're starting from a bone stock vehicle and need to do everything, it's roughly $15k
A couple of years ago 400-420hp was the norm? What’s changed ?
Cam and Port development mostly. The lobe profiles we are using these days are very different to cams of 10 years ago for exaple. Much more lift through transition areas between 50" and peak lift.
I need to do this same rebuild to my VE SS. Does anyone know how much I should budget? I already have the exhaust and intake.
Depends how far you want/need to go, clutch? I would say budget $11k, but feel free to shoot us an email and we can help you out.
@@BoostGumpsCool, thanks for that. Clutch is done already too.
I was quoted 9k for cam with supporting mods and ported heads
@@stiopicmyosick cool, thanks for your reply.
Ever have any issue with the ls7 lifters?
