Occidental College plans to vote on divestment from Israel

- After nine days of encampments, Occidental College has agreed to vote on a decision to divest from Israel, concluding the protest on campus. Occidental’s Students for Justice in Palestine's encampment began about a week ago, starting with around 15 tents and growing to well over 100.
The protests have been mostly peaceful, barring some adversarial responses from individuals who approached the encampment throughout the week. This marks the second tentative agreement between a major university and protest groups in Southern California; at UC Riverside, protestors reached an agreement to end the encampment on campus after several days of demonstrations on May 3.

I'm shocked how many US institutions have been supporting (sending money to) a country called Israel thousands miles away.

No they buy index funds, stocks etc. which makes up the endowment. They want them to sell off our their assets that have anything to do with the military industrial complex.
Some endowments are so large I don’t know how feasible this is.
