I do the same thing. A lot of it probably comes from watching SSL ranked videos where flips or flip cancels are needed to powerful clears, shots and flicks as well as on kickoff. But it is hard not to overuse these mechanics when they're not appropriate for the situation

It is in her already it just needs to come out.

I remember trying to play this game in 2016 and not knowing how awful the standard camera setting were. It felt unplayable and everyone played like a bronze. Once I started watching tutorials and higher level game play in 2018 I started to actually enjoy the game. So you're 100% correct that misinformation or lack of information causes bad habits. Also this game is played so quickly that you are forced to make hundreds of split second judgments each game and rely on your muscle memory and pattern recognition.

I 'm so excited to learn from this series and follow along with your journey. I put in the work, but struggle so much without having specific goals in mind (thanks ADHD). The tips you gave Emmie for learning to aerial were helpful, and I know for certain I flip without purpose as well. I also have the over-driving tendency you corrected in Emmie, so I am already massively thankful for this series. I can't wait to see what's in store for Emmie (and myself). I plan to save some game replays along the way in my journey as well to track my progress and learn from my mistakes. Thank you for taking the time to help people who really desire to get better at this game. To me, I see RL as an infinite sandbox, with SO much potential to learn and grow, so I don't mind spending hours in creative mode, so long as I have a specific goal to achieve. Best of luck you two!

You don't have to rush to be fast, you need to make sure everything's happening smoothly. Flipping is very committal which means if you mess up it'll take a looong time to recover.
Don't flip if you don't need to.

Great vid man, I can probably give a few suggestions on how you can train her aerials, as this helped my aerial mechs drastically
    1. Go from goal to goal with only full directional air roll
    2. In freeplay, fly in a circle around the ball while facing it
    3. Going to the map Pillars and have her fly around the map on a 8 figure

Emmie is awesome. To all these haters who mock her that she is stuck in plat for 7 years: you guys need to get a life. Being stuck for 7 years and still not giving up and being determined to fight and improve every day with no results is an amazing trait of character. Nobody cares how quickly you got to champ. Literally nobody ever thought "I'm glad I have my friend Jacob, he progresses so fast in rocket league" but when you have friends like Emmie and you're going through tough times and she is there with you not giving up even though there is barely any hope you will understand what a fucking treasure she is. I wish I had people like Emmie in my life, she can achieve everything and she is such a good sport. People flexing on their rank and mocking everyone who is worse at the game will be forgotten.

That tip on single jumping may be game changing for me. I don't flip as much as Emmie does but there are definitely some times when I have slower recoveries because of flipping. It might even help me get out of d1 in 1s. It's tough down there as everyone is more like high champ but this tip might just help a lot to gaining much quicker and more efficient gameplay. Thanks CBell!
