Hugh Laurie's two accents is like two very different people
That's right, one is Hugh Laurie and the other is a character that he plays called Gregory House.
Sorry to be so snarky. Actually I think anyone doing a generic British and generic American accent will seem like a different character. Imagine anyone American speaking with a posh British accent and then imagine anyone British speaking with a casual American accent.
@@youejtube7692
It’s not the accent, it’s more his voice tone & pitch.
It gives off the assumption that you are listening to two different Men.
As an Aussie looking from my perspective, I think Hugh really nails the American accent, and adore his very British accent when he is being himself.
What impressed me re his American accent and how good it is, was a conversation between House and Chase and House makes some smart alec comment about the "Ossie" rhyming with "possie".
I thought yes!!! That is exactly how Americans pronounce "Aussie".
The Brits (ie Hugh) pronounce it more like "Awesie" or "Awwestrayylian", much more posh sounding. So more of an Awe sound at the start for Brits, Oss sounds for Americans. And Australians would pronounce more like "Straylian" or Ozzie ('Z' sound not 'S' like Americans).
Hugh and Jesse both incredible actors and both gorgeous.
Hugh gets better and better with age too, really beautiful smile and those stunning blue eyes. Adorable😊💖
❤
"we just watch you Hugh" same.
So in character
Lol. She has a crush on and off screen.
1:21 Chase forgot to pick up his grandma at the airport.
😂LOL😂
He's not Joey.
@@cosmosestas371 ?
@@cosmosestas371 ha ha nice one
Yes I reminded it 1000 times because it was soooo funny😂😂😂
Haha..when Jesse sighs, Jennifer stops nodding her head and Hugh stops talking and they both turn at the exact same time. It makes me crack up every time. :)
This comment was 12 years ago, I just started watching house season 1 in 2021 lol 😂 I can’t believe I missed this show.
@@BReWeDKnOwLeDGe same. How late am I
14 years, hope you're doing great
1:20
Hilarious. Jesse Spencer's reaction is priceless, I couldn't stop laughing! Love Hugh Laurie, absolute legend.
As a Britisher I am very aware that Hugh has an English accent having enjoyed his comedy work since the early 80s. This has made me all the more impressed at how he carried House with a completely convincing American accent. He is one of the world's greatest actors and that has completely taken me by surprise!
"a Britisher" ??
+Derek Johnson As in someone from Britain. Didn't think anyone would actually question what it meant
I never ever heard any British person describe themselves as a Britisher
Patrick Kelly Me neither, I though that "Britisher" was supposed to be an insult and one that's no longer even being used nowadays.
Blenderdick Snickersbar I cant see how it is a insult, but it makes no sense its like calling a Spanish person a Spanisher or a Swede a Swedisher, I am old now and I have never heard a British citizen describe themselves as a Britisher.
My brain is seriously telling me that I'm seeing House but someone else's voice is dubbed over his, even though I know it's the same person.
I did that too!
On that note, good thing for me is that I've been watching (& a huge fan, ntm) Hugh's tremendous performances since late '80s in "Blackadder", "A Bit of Fry & Laurie", "Jeeves & Wooster" & sorts, I was rather baffled by his American accent. But, I wasn't shocked that he nailed it such perfectly, 'cause, well he's just a damn fine superbly talented actor.
Hugh Laurie is English.
Ok
The first time I heard Hugh Laurie speak my jaw hit the floor, I had no idea he was British
Big LOL at Jesse. He is too adorable.
That goes to Robert and Hugh as well. The are so much fun to watch. I just keep on wanting more interviews with everyone together.
That part when Jesse was like ugh was so funny
I just think it's fabulous that the producers are letting Hugh use all of his VERY BROAD range of talents on the show. THAT is being SMART.
Hugh Laurie aka genius and brilliant actor
Always when I try to be smart I think about hugh laurie what a actor
Jesse is endlessly charming 💗
1:21 THIS is the whole clip!
Amid all the talk about Hugh's accent, what strikes me here is how different Jesse Spencer's voice sounds in the real World, if I'm not mistaken he speaks with a different Australian accent too.
Definitely has a more formal accent on the show: I believe he adds some English accent to the character? A guest character noted the English accent in Season 6 ("The Tyrant")
@@bernlin2000 He lived in London more than two years.
Yes, a more posh Aussie accent, not like "Mick" from the bush (Crocodile Dundee).🇦🇺
it just a class thing. He's from Melbourne and was upper class (his family are all doctors, if I remember correctly) so he's hardly going to talk like a bogan. In NZ and Australia there was a sort of RP English crossed with AUS/NZ accent that anyone trained in the dramatic arts or radio/tv spoke, similar to the idea of a transatlantic accent, and in certain quarters it only began to dissipate as late as the early 2000's. I'm a New Zealander but because of how I was raised and my class other kiwis sometimes think I'm English, but no one from England would ever say the same. It's a bit hard to explain as these accents are still evolving, how people spoke in the 80's and the 2020's even is wildly different (in my experience, that is)
I think Jesse Spencer is describing a behaviour that came up on an episode of QI called 'echopraxia'. Stephen Fry should definitely award bonus points.
Multiverse comment
You can see what Jesse Spencer is talking about in one of the early seasons, too. It's just the two of them in a corridor.
1:22 When Spencer groans Cameron and House freeze and look at Spencer at the exact same time. I like to think they were worried ;p
If you watch the outtakes on the DVDs, Hugh NEVER comes out of House's American accent, even when he cracks up- amazing!
House was the best weekly program ever to star on tv. The props & scenes portrayed in this program were of the finest quality!
Haha, Jesse is so funny. In the middle of Hugh's sentence, he totally interrupts physically. It's so funny. He's cute when he laughs
Hugh Laurie's British accent 😍
he not just change fake his accent . he actually change his tone for the show . i love this actor !
1:20 That Jesse moment is toooo funny
2:17 It’s really so cute actually how bashful Laurie is when he’s complimented by a woman. He really is very unassuming for someone of his stature. Why can’t he be my husband? Oh yeah, he’s already married. Roger that.
he wouldn't like you
You need Lupus
It's never lupus which is House hides his stash in a lupus book.
the thirst is(was) real
Marry me, we'll be fine together.
That was such an honest and precious moment from Jesse Spencer😆💙
Great to see chase not afraid of house.
Yea
10 years later, I'm still here ❤️
I like how they were all concerned until Jessie started laughing
"Oooooh....sorry!" Oh god.... XD Jesse is so awesome :D
ahh man. "Walking down the corridor with Hugh, well he's limping and you kinda," *limping motion*
bahaha!! thats great:)
Jesse Spencer (Dr. Chase ) is so hot ofmfkfkf im honestly in love with him !!😍😍 and i love this show so much , im watching it for the first time and I'm in season 2 and it's soooooo good 😭👏🏼 hugh laurie is an amazing actor WOW
get a grip girl
wilson dies lol

The writer remembered a line about nuns:
'You know nuns, once you take the IUD out, they just bounce right back'.
(IUD being a form of contraception)
House is one of my favorite shows.
How kind of RUclips algorithm to want me to take a nostalgia trip back 12 years.
1:14 gosh i could watch Jesse's face over and over again
Hugh's embarrassment at the end is soooo sweet
Course the whole idea of the show is that the team starts to become more and more like House. So I think it would be almost accepted for the actors to pick up other habits from their colleges
For most American folks it's in reverse. Over here in Europe it's been hard to get used to HL with an American accent playing a straight role after F&L, Jeeves and Wooster and the magnificent Blackadder. Took me more than 2 years to get over that. Now I'm hooked on the show although I hope he'll return to Britain and comedy and Fry eventually.
hahaha its funny that hugh said "what was that" immediately after jesse made that xD
1:22 jesses sighing then hes like sorry! lol hilerouse!
sorry about my terrable spelling!
Hugh is incredibly charming!!!
Jesse Spencer is so cute xD
Hugh is adorable and he is so different from his character in the show. Glad that they like and admire each other.
Hugh's WTF face is epic!
@lilwafflebabex3 I believe Jennifer says, "We just watch you Hugh".
hugh's WTF face
lool
Hugh even got me limping when I binged the show
I love this cast and this show.
1:21 was hilarious... he actually does that on the show when he resents or disagrees with something lol thats prolly why hugh was like wtf? but it turned out otherwise..
I miss this show
"because he's limping...."
LOL that was ridiculously hilarious!
no matter how many times i watch it... the scene 1:15 still makes me laugh every time! =)
Aww Jesse is so cute :)
lol look at Jennifer and Hugh looking at Jesse at the same time hahaha
i love the hell out of house
Yes! Mr. Hugh Laurie is British! So of course he would have a British accent! He is an amazing actor; his American accent is amazing.
LOL... When Jesse sighs and then they just look at him and he's like **** did i really say that out loud!
Omg the comments are from so long ago and I was borned in 2010, I can't watch Doctor House without my parents. I think the world was better before 2010, I would have liked to grow up watching Dr House when it came out, It's like everything that happens matches my humor, bravo for the writers and actors that perform, such a masterpiece, and I smile when I see Hugh talk in his real voice, I wish I find a man like him that funny, "crazy" in a way, atracctive and talented. Ty for reading, take care. And remember, you can't always have what you want!
We all Love House ,Great
I LOVE Jennifer Morrison as Cameron!!!
Wherever people are from they have an accent. I am from Australia so I think that Jesse Spencer doesn't have an accent but I think that the rest of the cast does. It just depends on what you are used to hearing.
:O I think it's so true what Hugh said because I just realized that at 1:05 Omar Epps, Robert S. Leonard and Jennifer Morrison are doing the same pose. oO HAHAHAHAHHAHA
Yeah, I knew Hugh long before this show - his work that was, he usually played comedy and this was such a departure, I started watching House because of him - most folks it's in reverse and they are surprised he's British. Not me, I'm surprised he sounds so American on the show :)
this video is so funny...1.22 talk about thinkin out load! jesse spencer is very funny at hughs expression afterwards so funny! jesse makes this worth watching the funny fucker !!
Hugh's voice is so much more pleasant than House's lol
2:15 he talks in his American accent XD
well for sure Hugh is oldest actor and most
experianced of all of them there,
I watched his work since I was a kid,
in Black adder, in movies,
in show with his friend Steven Fry....
he is really great actor.
I am at season 3 and already started limping
BEST show, ever! 😎
JESSE SO FUNNY XDD
@lilwafflebabex3 i think she said "we just watch you, hugh"
I love this!!!
I like how House is acting like Hugh Laurie....
Hugh Laurie i was a little suprised i knew he was english but i had never heard him speak outside of house before so i was all O.O wtf Hugh?
but anyways i love Jesse his inturruption is pure love XD and then his demonstration of the House limp
Robert Sean Leonard: I too am in this interview 😂
Maybe that's why she asked the question! She was probably just curious because it did make sense, until you hear Laurie's explanation.
It would've been awesome if he played in Sherlock Holmes
"Cut that out!" 😂😂
i totally LOLed at that "uuughh". hahaha! :D
@Shahrouz528 In England we feel the opposite. He's been famous here since the early 1980's, mostly in comic roles playing the stereotypical posh Englishman.
@hetraceashainkek I don't understand your answer. What I was trying to say is that there is no such thing as a British or English accent, there are many different accents, even two towns minutes apart from each other may contain people with vastly different regional accents. Another example could be that one town or city could have English or British people with many different accents, A South London accent is Different from an East London accent, a posh one is different from a working class one
@Shahrouz528 I loved the episode where Hugh Laurie (British), acting as an American had to pretend to imitate a British accent - AND he pulled it off! Amazing.
The question was an opportunity for the cast to compliment one another...
@Boubala25
Jeeves and Wooster is his best work. Has one of the best vacant stares in acting. One of the programmes also includes my favourite line "Bertie's having a brainstorm!" to which his Aunt says "What with?"
Remember that! So long ago but still so funny to this day. 😁
Love the video, love the show, love house
@XHyperExplosion omg, i know! he would make a perfect Sherlock!
Does anyone know where I can watch the whole panel?
SWEET TRUE HOUSEDR GREGORY I WAITING FOR YOU , MISS ME ALLMOMENT &&&
HOLY CRAP. HUGH LAURIE'S BRITTISH.
I will never look at House the same way again. o_O
omg they sound soo much better and so normal witht heir normal accents :) go aussie go aha
@lilwafflebabex3 Hugh said " I think we can't get"
and then Jennifer said "jealous of watching you"
and Hugh said "Now cut that out"
"We just watch you Hugh...oh, cut that out"
haha..
no matter how many times i watch it... the scene 1:15 going forward still makes me laugh every time! =)
@animalchin101
Hugh laurie was a voice actor in one episode of family guy accually =)
ITS 15 YEARS AGO??
jesse is great! :D
OMG Houses accent !
