@@Nat1videos I'm glad you like it! No need for contact in description, as I don't do much freelance work these days. Thanks anyways and keep up the good work!
This looks great! Only hint at improving I could give would be to apply different spots of pigments to increase the variety of the stone and make it look more natural.
I love your builds. You are an incredibly creative individual and I very much enjoy watching your create. So I add this only because you asked. One technique I like for stone was taught by our dearly departed Bard's Craft and (forgive me if I'm wrong) also Vince Venturella. While my base coat is still wet, I like to take other colors with a similar hue and dab them hither and fro slightly blending in to the base coat. Even and especially metallics but good to not overdue them. It gives it a wonderful realistic depth once the piece is overbrushed, drybrushed & washed. My go-to are Prairie Sage, Khaki, Rusted Pipe & Pewter Grey. Dull Copper, Bronze & Silver are the metallics I often use. Another thing I do is multiple hues of washes. I use green, brown, black, blue and even red/violet, then put a very light sepia over the whole thing to unify it & dull down the contrast. Sometimes I do a couple sepia washes if need be. Lastly, (my secret weapon) I very lightly dry brush with a Pearl White Metallic by Folk Art. I've tried other pearl whites and Folk Art's Metallic Pearl White is my fave. It instantly adds light and highlight so I go easy and build it up as it's easy to overdue. I'm an avid You-tube watcher so all of these techniques except the pearl white dry brush were learned from a variety of vids!! Thank you so much for taking the time to put out content. You have a relaxing, entertaining, and easy-watching way about you and I look forward to every episode. À na márië!!!
wow these are some great tips! I love that idea with the pearlised white, definitely going to get some and give it a try. Also love the idea of the different colour washes. Thanks for watching and the feedback :D
Thank you Elston! Yeah its a super simple idea, but you can carve whatever you want... Imagine the Warhammer skull logo or the wings but in massive lol
Thanks Derek!! Yeah nice to release a video... I have been action though. Feels like I have been flat out with my current build. I hope its worth the wait lol
That turned out really good man! It's nice to see you on the tubes again! I love the color variation that you got going here, it really strikes as natural rock and not something painted.. Glad that the guys from HotA are back... And with a cooler logo!
Excellent work! I love how sharp the logo turned out. Since you asked about realism, (and bearing in mind it already looks like stone, especially with good lightning!): If you wanted to max out realism you'd probably want to go for cracks that run end to end, but that would detract from the logo so I think what you did here was the right stylistic choice. To give you another example, making it more realistic would also mean doing away with the white edge highlight, but I think that makes it work better as a logo. Regarding painting, using a sponge to add the base color and then going nuts with the washes would probably give you a more realistic effect faster, BUT since you were working fast and making this for someone else, it really isn't the place to experiment with stuff you aren't already sure of. So I think it's really top notch as it is. On a side note, I'm glad the lads are back online. Have been following them since your amon sul video and really enjoy their content.
Cheers for the tips Karl! Yeah, if I had a bit more time I could have done a few experiments first. But I learned a lot on this project which was great :)
Well, fancy meeting you here, young lady. 😁 The same one who sent me here when you retweeted his Skyforge model video. 😉 Thank you so much for that. Such a lovely crafting community.
Hey Michael. I have had a lot of family stuff going on lately, so just getting to this now. I love how it came out & quickly, with the magic of editing! 😁 I can only hear Collin saying their name in my head, with the same accent as Broooken Toooood. 🤣 It knowses my luvs fer all tings Tolkeinses, it does. We have subbsed to the Broken Sword 🗡 channelses, Gollum!, thankses to youses. 😂 Can’t wait for the collab. Been looking forward to this big project you mentioned, for some time now. (It rubses it’s hands together, greedily)
Hey Lora! Thanks so much for watching ! Hahaha now you have said it I will now imagine Collin saying it in that accent every time lol Really glad you subbed to their channel, trust me they have some great stuff coming ;)
I love how this looks. If I had the skills I'd try this out! I would perhaps suggest a bit of green, paint on a sponge, moss or fake ivy to make it look older and a bit more natural and wild.
Looks great, Michael. Nice homage. The only thing I'd suggest is maybe the logo could have been (a) different colour(s) than the background, just for a bit of an accent. It already looks brill, tho, so huge grain of salt, there :)
Hey Cross, yeah I know what you mean. I could have gone for a darker wash on the background for sure, but I am hoping with some nice lighting it will cast some cool shadows and pop out a bit more ;)
Another outstanding build! I am sorry that I can not provide any constructive criticism. However, I do think it might look good with the addition of some (very lightly) added moss coloring and perhaps a couple of water marks where water has run down around the lettering. Having said this, I love it just the way it is. Great work!
Hey John, I just used regular old PVA. Along as the join is nice, you pin it and leave it for plenty of time to try it works a treat :) Thanks for watching
