- In today's vlog we head to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge for the all new Lion King prix fixe dinner menu in celebration for the Lion King movie. This dinner includes a starter, a main, a dessert and some special treats at the end, even some tea to take home. We started with a clam and bone marrow dish, which was surprisingly delicious! The entire dinner had a story that related to the Lion King that went along with each dish, it was very themed and thoughtful. Next we had our mains, Tim had the bone in ribeye and I had the seafood coconut curry dish with saffron rice. Both were excellent and had a ton of flavor. Lastly we had the Hakuna Matata dessert, which was a chocolate eclair sort of dish with flavors of caramelized orange. I loved it, but Tim not so much lol. The full pre fixe menu included 3 courses and was $65 per person. We both felt that this was a great deal for a Disney signature dining experience and would definitely recommend it and do it again. Hearing him sing circle of life....everytime I see the Broadway show (17 times and counting) it makes me fall in love with the show all over again. The opening with circle of life is simply the most stunning opening in any Broadway show I have ever seen.

I suppose they tried to open the menu up to *all* of Africa including South Africa. Helps create some menu diversity and more options, I think

I was so crazy pumped to try this meal! My 11 year old even got his own bone marrow and clams and he ate his entire giant steak! The musicians were so talented and really added to the experience. Our server was a total dud. She acted like we were a huge inconvenience to her, we had to ask for the tea, and she never did bring us our cute little gummies. It was still a fun experience! And it was really fun to watch this video with our own experience in our memory bank.

We enjoyed your review! We don't have any specific aversions to that seafood, but it was interesting to hear how they accommodated your table. We got to go on opening night for this Lion King feast, and we enjoyed both dishes a lot, especially the steak. But the seafood/shellfish dish was excellent, too. We happened to sit in the same section and got to watch the musical gents circle (of life) around us a few times. Our server and the manager were especially pleasant and on top of things. Overally, like you all said, as fancy meals go, this is a very good one.

I love themed meals like this! Btw both Jenn and Tim have that pregnancy glow.,,or maybe it was the mood lighting there but they definitely had a “glow” 🤷🏼♀️😂

Maybe its just me but why order a meal if you don't like half the ingredients then expect the restaurant to change it to something else? Why not just choose something that you do like?
I get the idea that this is a special meal that you order the entire meal. So if you want the experience, this is the meal you get.
Because I wanted to show off the special Lion King menu, plus maybe someone watching might want to order it that way.

I wonder what possessed someone to ever eat bone marrow for the first time. Hmmm, that stuff inside a bone that looks absolutely awful...I think I'll eat it😂.
LOL. Our ancestors used everything they could because to waste precious resources around that time was unthought of. I just feel bad for those pioneers who had to try the new thing and hope it wouldn't kill them.
AroundIndiana I have eaten bone marrow since I was a kid. I love it. I also like the grisly parts on the ends of chicken bones too. 😋

FYI, calamari is the little squid rings and tentacles.
When the squid is chopped up, the body ends up forming the rings, and the head obviously is the tentacles.

Jiko was the best meal we had during our past few trips. The filet mignon with mac & cheese was amazing!

Keep in mind this is a special menu for the movie. They have their regular menu to choose food from! It was expensive but I enjoyed my meal there.
Count me in! 😂 Never tried bone marrow but I'm down to try anything, plus I think it looked good. And I love all seafood so this place looks really good to me.
Well, the menu is for more refined and adventurous palettes. By the way, squid isn’t that unusual
I think for Disney that’s a great $65 meal. 3 courses and a take home brochure AND a “souvenir” of tea. That’s amazing. Even if you don’t drink the tea and literally leave it as a little display on a shelf or something.
I really enjoyed the gentleman singing. They were good. When Tim held up that menu at 4:15, I swear to God I read the Carnage of life.

I was a Cast Member at the AKL in the fall of 2011 and was given the chance to eat at Jiko several times. Fantastic restaurant in a beautiful resort. My favorite resort, but I'm biased. ;)

The only item I might have a bit of an issue about trying would be the bone marrow and served in the bone like that. Grosses me out a bit.

Did anyone else think that anytime the camera was on Jenn in the restaurant, it looked very ‘film-like’? Those shots seemed to have a very cinematic feel to them. Maybe it was the restaurant lighting or the new camera. Whatever it is, I’m diggin it! Jenn, you look beautiful 😊
Most of the shots of Jenn were filmed on our Sony while most of the shots of me were filmed on the Canon. Slight differences between the two.
