    I watched this video while getting ready to go to class. While we were rolling, my partner shot the Darce and I did this move and escaped. I was able to get to a dominant position and finish the round. My partner is bigger, and higher rank. Thx bro. Great instruction, love your videos. Keep it up, please.

    Don't do what I did and mix up the two defenses and go belly down when the guy is on his side applying this. It suddenly dawned on me last night, as I was rubbing my sore neck after tapping, "whoops, wrong darce defense." I used the belly down instead of the put em on their back method. Learned that one that hard way.

    I just competed in my first jiujitsu tournament this past weekend and got darce choked in that EXACT single leg position you were describing. The defense you talked about and switching your head to the other side for the double leg is absolute gold! Wish I had seen this a few days before the tournament but I'm excited to get back in the gym and start drilling it. Thanks for the great info!

    THANK YOU BRIAN! Just tonight I was put in a d'arce by a purple(I'm a blue) which is a move I rarely get put in, I guess at my gym we don't do it much, and instinctively and stupidly I started locking legs with him as if I could get more control and quickly realized that's what he wants, so I scrambled my legs out and walked them away then started frantically thinking 'what was Brian showing (me) in the vid last night' and I remembered getting back on my knees but forgot the little details but it got me safe, then he rolled me back and I kept playing the reel in my head as best as my memory could provide and I saw you bridge on him, mid roll, you over him facing up, so I did it and instinctively used my other hand to block his lower body. Stopped him, and me, meanwhile choked arm I remembered you using it to hook his arm so I did something like that. Anyway, buzzer went off but I stopped him and felt in control thanks to you. BTW I got you on patreon l, the equivalent of two subway $5 foot longs +tax for the year lol, but it's gonna change so long as you're ghost coaching me like this. Thanks man! Best grappling channel on RUclips, in the universe
    .... Ah, he never let his arms go, and while on top I forgot about the double leg. Not next time!

    When you come to your knees and he switches to the vice grip and you defend by squeezing his arm are you not just basically giving him a Peruvian necktie setup?

    • @TeachMeGrappling
      @TeachMeGrappling  6 лет назад +8

      No... first, you shouldn’t go to your knees. Go to your belly. After that you keep the arm tight so a Peruvian is not possible. There may be an occasional Gumby you run into that can still put their leg over your head. There shouldn’t be much pressure because of the arm control and it’s very hard to put the other leg over. Only a circus freak could do it.

After watching his vids last few months I've got him on my shoulder like an angel coach and it's been paying off. If you can pay your coach $100+ a month, anything you can bring to the mat from these awesome vids is worth it. Actually, if patreon makes it easy, every time I execute a new move of his successfully, I'll throw him a few bones. So worth it
