I told my Facebook group about this little gem a few weeks ago and you are 100% correct, this version is a game changer. Also having played with the A7RC and its extension, I would wait for SmallRig extension. Great video and too the point. I love that your videos aren't filled with B-Roll, and just focus on the info... Well done!

Can't tell you how much I appreciate this recommendation. I bought an A7 IV last year about a week before Sony launched the A6700. If the A6700 had already been out or I knew that it was coming, I probably would have bought that one. I'm an amateur photographer and shoot mostly while traveling but also some local wildlife, nature and landscape. Size and weight of the body and LENSES (wow that FF glass can be heavy) are big factors for me. The pinky going below the body of the A6700 was going to be a comfort issue so I was happy to see that SmallRig had a solution. My rental A6700 and Sony 18-200 just arrived this morning and I put the SmallRig bottom plate on it. What a world of difference in the ergonomics!!

Got one for my a6700. Feels so much better in hand now and barely adds any weight

Thanks for the tips. Have been thinking about a smallrig cage for the a7 Iv for some time. Mostly as an extra protection and not having to use the hot shoe all the time.
However being able to lay the camera flat that amazing.
    👍
