Not sure why, but most fishing videos have reels with the clicker still switched on. I never leave my clicker on when I'm in process of winding on as it's just another distraction I don't need
I've lost so many fish because I'd have to many rods going. I'd be running back and forth, setting hook on one rod then other rod would go down, or one fish would get me rapped up in other rods. Now I only use 2 maximum. If fish are slow it's a good idea though. Nice video.
Found the same to be true on Lake Meade in Las Vegas, that was back in the mid 70s to mid 80s, it's just about all dried up now, sadly. Used to catch some of the nicest Channel Cats out of that lake.
When I was a kid, I use to sit on the bank of one of our local creeks and catch large mud cats using earthworms and a cane pole. My grandfather taught me how to fish like this, he grew up in Texas. In the early 1900's it was more about survival than fun. How times have changed.
Hey bud, new subscriber - great videos! Im brand new to fishing, can you answer two basic questions for me? I notice you use a spinning reel sometimes and more recently bait cast reels - any significant difference on when to use those or juts personal preference? Also, I notice your usual go-to rig has some type of neon floaty looking object on the line. Can you tell me what type of rig that is and what that object is? do you just have it sitting on top of a swivel and then leader line with your circle hook? thanks
Welcome Jim. Personal preference really. I think the round reels give me more control on my casts, a little more finesse. That’s a Santee Cooper rig. It’s a 3” peg float with a versa rattle. It spins in current and rattles. On top of the swivel is a sinker slide, clips to your sinker and slides up and down your main line. Hope that helps.
@@PalmettoCats Awesome. Also if you have time - If im sticking to smaller lakes for now with less current - can I still use a peg float and versa rattle or are they less necessary/effective than just a base rig? And is it ok if I use just a standard inline lead over a sinker slide for the same reason? Really appreciate you Kevin
As its name suggests, red blotch disease is characterized by bloody sores on the skin, particularly along the belly. Sometimes the sores are relatively clean, but more often they're associated with dead white skin and nasty looking blisters

Here in Colorado you have to pay for an extra rod stamp to fish two rods and that's the limit!
In SC we can fish as many as we want from the boat.

That's pretty cool that you are able to use that many rods, in the state of Ohio we can only use 2 rods per angler.

Same here in Michigan.
