I want to make this using an exposed lace zipper. I think I can figure it out, but if you have any tips I’d greatly appreciate hearing them. Lovely tutorial, btw.🧵🪡
Wow, such a great video! I've been wanting to make a pouch with French seams, and your video gives me the exact instructions that I need to make it! Thanks so much for creating this video.
This will be perfect for a beginner sewing class I help to run. Thank you for the very clear instructions and for proving a good project to practice French seams.
I agree that enclosing raw edges makes for a nicer finish. I generally do the outside pull through the inside lining opening and then do a final close on the lining which keeps the bulk down. Great demo.
Your camera is not in the right place when you’re sewing. I can’t see anything except the machine. No action. Just thought you might not realize it. Your instructions are very clear. Thank you so much.
I may be having a blank moment, but how did you fully open the zipper since the pull was in the middle with the zipper closed on both sides of the pull? ?
So happy to see this! Been wanting to do this, but needed affirmation. Thank you for your video and all your pins I have saved over the years. 😊
You are so welcome.

Yes but you will want to make the bag bigger because boxing the corners will reduce its size.

I'm using upholstery fabric for exterior and silk interior. Must I use fusible fleece?
No need
So if I want it to be a 7x4 what would be the cutting size?
Make that 7 x 5
Add 3/8" to the measurements of each piece to accommodate the French seam and the zipper and that should get you what you want think.
Do you have to use fusible fleece
No. You cause any interfacing to give it structure or northing if you want.
I may be having a blank moment, but how did you fully open the zipper since the pull was in the middle with the zipper closed on both sides of the pull? ?
I used a continuous zipper so when you pull the zipper one way it will continue to close and when you pull it the other way it will open fully.
Why would you wait until the end to discusss the fleece choice???
I do thee without a script so I Robby just thought of it.
Does it matter what zipper you use? My zipper adds a lot of bulk on the ends when turning it.
no, the zipper should not matter.
Love the fabric where did you purchase it?
I purchased the fabric at joann's
Thank you, so pretty,…
Could I box the bottom of this bag
Absolutely
Measurements are not correct, it states 1 of each piece.
According to my version that is correct. See the blog post sewverycrafty.com/how-to-make-a-simple-zipper-pouch/
