    These are questions we ask ourselves, and you, sir, answered it: you should convert all your pictures into smart objects. Photoshop should open all pictures in smart objects. Thank you.😁

    Always use smart objects, though it has its quirks. It is a feature that I would love to see in Affinity as well, perhaps as Smart Layers

    Why Photoshop BETA 25.11 doesn't let me scale a layer without using the Shift key? :(

    • @dekeNow
      @dekeNow  20 дней назад

      Ps Beta reverts to defaults, and no-shift proportional scaling has been a default for a few years. Try Preferences > Use Legacy Free Transform.

    Smart Objects are great! It could do so much more. One source for multiple Smart Objects. Complex multi layer image inside. Illustrator file as a Smart Object. Place Embeded...

      Yes, yes, yes, and yes! It reads like my original list (that I obviously slimmed down). I do include much of that at my Patreon, if it’s any consolation. 😉

    You definitely don’t need to use smart objects all the time. And they increase your file size quite dramatically - especially if you have lots of layers.

      I use smart objects most of the time, except “painting layers”. After u finish, just go back and rasterize the smart object layers before you save it.

      This is generally true (good point!), however difficult to predict. The mere act of converting an image to a smart object *can* as much as double the file size. It’s largely a buffering issue, designed to streamline the editing experience. But file sizes likewise balloon when you add so much as a single layer. That 10MP filter effects kid in the video goes from 6MB flat JPEG to 25MB single-layer raster to 70MB single smart object. Personally, I lean into flexibility.

    does making a dumb face on your youtube video thumbnail get more views? can you do a tutorial about how to make engaging thumbnails for youtube videos please

    • @dekeNow
      @dekeNow  11 дней назад

      Definitely not convinced making a dumb face is the key. (In fact, regretting this one, though can’t change it now! It’s too thoroughly associated with this video. 😅) But, yes, once I feel like I have a better sense of what works, I will happily make a how-to thumbnail video.

    A bug is going to fly into your open mouth. Not every video is literally jaw dropping 😉

      Ha! (Fortunately, if you look very carefully, my jaw-dropping is purely figurative. 😂)

    Hi Deke, could you please consider doing some tutorials on software other than Adobe..
    This is a serious request.
    Your talent is going to be wasted otherwise...
    Thanks for your mentorship over the years.
    But if you don't, I'll be unable to watch your channel anymore.
    And I'll miss your incredible detailed and humorous teachings.
    Much Love...

      LOL. I have to admit, I totally spaced out this thumbnail until 4:30am the morning the video went live. If I were to have honestly reflected my mood at the moment, I would have been face down, mouth open, drooling.
